Doors is a short, atmospheric first person logic game created by a one-man-team. Taking inspiration from Limbo and The Stanley Parable, Doors attempts to bring something new to the puzzle genre.

This game would normally be one I would recommend. It's an amusing logic puzzle game with some interesting secondary challenges. Simple interface, consistent aesthetic, a rewarding core gameplay loop. But this game features a development concept that should be discouraged on Steam by the community, if not outright banned by Valve. "Underachiever" is an achievement that is generally unachievable. A random number generator buried in the game's code fires off to determine whether or not you get the achievement and without the use of exploitative software such as Steam Achievements Manager it is not normally achievable as the odds are astronomical and the exact trigger to fire the RNG is not clear. The developer has not directly commented that the achievement is unachievable other than in the achievement description, but neither have they ever on record said that it was achievable. This tactic is a deliberate troll to achievement hunters, and makes this game effectively impossible to completely clear.
This game is very, very short. And after you play once, there's no reason to replay, since you know all the puzzles. (Unless you go for the achievements. But there is a troll achievement that is not possible to be obtained).
Years passed since I've got Doors and played it, only thing that I can say for sure is that this game is indeed forgettable except part where it has achievement that you can't get. It's short game with some logic puzzles that weren't hard and whole game was made to look like The Stanley Parable (which is admitted in description on Store page as well), but even years after being introduced to Stanley I still remember that THEB ROOM CLOSET ENDING WAS MY FAVRITE!1 XD To make matters worse, this game isn't free.
Entirely forgettable and it's impossible to get all the achievements either.
Not worth it, bought in a bundle for less that the $5 asking price even. It was no more interesting than a website quiz would have been. There's also an un-obtainable achievement, and no communication from the developer, other than a slight hint that it's actually impossible to get. Update: The developer posted a thread with thoughts saying the game didn't turn out like they wanted, and can understand why many people didn't like it. They had other ideas for the game, but never added them, etc. They must be aware of the achievement that is impossible to get as most of the reviews mention this, but there was no mention of it, or a solution to the problem. It's either a nearly impossible achievement that is beyond your control based on crazy RNG that no one knows how to trigger, some kind of time-based thing that no one knows about (many wondered if it was a Stanley Parable type thing), or a deliberate troll by the developer and it's actually impossible to get. If it's actually impossible, it's a complete slap in the face to any achievement hunter, especially ones that like to keep their numbers high or close to 100%, meaning they can never get to 100% if they've gotten a single achievement in this game, and and also because you can never delete counted games from your achievement history. While this shouldn't be a problem for many people, I know lots of people that would avoid this game entirely because of this fact. ------------------------------ Control Scheme: Keyboard and Mouse default, probably cant change bindings. ------------------------------ Worth the current price (CDN$ 5.49)? No, I wouldn't play this for free. What I actually paid: $0.49 Write More Here ------------------------------ Completionist Review: DLC Achievements: No DLC Rating: CANNOT BE COMPLETED Can be completed in one run: CANNOT BE COMPLETED Chapter Select: I think so, but it doesn't matter. Did I need/use a guide? Yes only to find many other people have the same issues and have even contacted developers with no conclusions. What more can be said? the game cannot be completed, one of the acheivements is a troll (so most people say)
Doors is a low poly minimalist logic puzzle game where you wander around some fairly stock-asset looking environments until you come to a set of doors which are adorned with statements. You must deduce which door is the logically "true" door and pass through it to get to the next puzzle question, that's all there is to this. Unclear why this wasn't just a set of questions on a website, instead of having a lazy low poly minimalist Unity level wrapped around it, but then I guess a web page can't be a cash grab unless you dump some Unity assets on it and put it on Steam. What bugs me most about this is that it's a game with only one job, to provide logic puzzles, but the developers goofed and the logic puzzles don't actually work. Putting aside the faulty premise that bacon always gives happiness (this is not true), some of the logic puzzles are also simply wrong. One example, you're presented with one choice between two doors. The "correct" door says "Both doors lead to death", which is of course UNTRUE as that door does not lead to death, thus both doors do not lead to death. The developers had ONE JOB here and they goofed it up completely. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy minimalist/untextured low-polygon "retro" assets and visuals, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the early 1990s. The lack of textures is a method that lazy devs often use to disguise their lack of talent/interest in doing the graphics properly and trying to disguise it under the name of "art", or "We made it look bad on purpose", which really isn't something gamers should have to put up with. It's unclear why the developers weren't willing to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets and high resolution textures for the game. It looks bad as a result of their decisions, and that's just another reason to avoid it. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. This game features a number of suspicious, glowing with praise day 0 reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game. However, after that 0 day spike in player counts and reviews, next to nobody bothered to play the game. This is incredibly inconsistent and just doesn't happen naturally. The "Positive" review score on this game should be taken with a grain of salt. Doors has the gamer gouging price of $5 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend.
interesting game, fun and with great puzzles but i'm a little disappointed on the impossible achievement, pretty sure that isn't allowed for ANY game with trophies/achievements
I enjoy bacon, logic problems and existential dread... but designers who create unobtainable achievements should be boiled :p Great little game, highly recommend ^^; ***EDIT***For those who want to actually complete games - one to avoid, 'inspired' by Gran PC's trolling in The Stanley Parable, the broken cheevo can't be fixed but can apparently be 'managed' ... Although I enjoyed the game it is frustrating to earn no steam XP for it and actually just upsetting to conclude it's a deliberate and mean spirited wind up by a developer. I want to support Indie devs but if this is the attitude then lesson learned, won't buy in to your future 'jokes'.
