Something To Write About: Unbroken: Book One

one of the best games i have played, the story captures your soul, the graphics are great. i put this game in the same category as Chasing Sunsets and Leap of faith. i highly recommend this game and any future installments

the issues with Unbroken first (which might get fixed after this review gets posted): 1. the audio situation, which the dev is very open about. if audio is a deal breaker for you, you might want to hold off on purchasing because of this. 2. the spicy content. specifically the animations. this is worth mentioning because some people do judge the whole game based on the first scene. in Unbroken the first few scenes rate "meh"/ "not very good" but as the game progresses they do get much much better. by the end of the game they reach A, maybe even A+ tier. now having said all that, the writing in this game is SO GOOD it effortlessly elevates the game to the top tier of Steam AVNs. the protagonist of Unbroken will go down as maybe the best male AVN protagonist (at least so far). the only one i can think of who comes close to being as well-written is the MC of Project Passion. the love interests are just as good. all of them are well designed with heart. the dialog with them is amazing and the relationships are a joy to explore. Unbroken is absolutely worth paying full price for. i cannot wait to enjoy this dev's next AVN.

Been in my database for quite a while, though never picked it up before to actually play it. In the end I decided to give it a try and I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised. It has been a while for a visual novel to be that good where the developer actually invest tons of his time by creating a story about many damaged characters (emotionally), yet in a different way and show the strength and weak points of them. The story is definitely the strong point and visuals aren't that bad either with some nice girls as Kana & Els being my favourites. The downside? Too many tomboys in my opinion as I prefer my girls to have long hair.

Very interesting storyline, totally worth the play.

The writing is really awesome. The characters are relatable and the overall story is okay so far too. The cast of LI´s is interesting and has enough differences in "personality" to keep them interesting. I played/read for nearly six hors now and i am not even halfway through the first run, so the amount of story is also very decent. I´m excited for the story and for more work from this dev.

It's too wordy. Not enough action. By the time Round 4 came along, I was so bored with the game. I kept thinking, "Can I Ever Finish This Game"? I began to just try to skip over the wordy text which seem to go no where. If a sequel comes out for this, not buying it. Boring!

This vn is like a real world-drama with a fairly serious tone. There really is a books worth of dialogue to go through and intimate interactions are short. Unfortunately I found it to be generally dull and uninteresting overall.

great story, interesting and beautiful characters

An above average game for an AVN. The pros and cons are pretty obvious once you start playing. The game has nice models, creative camera use, relies on show-not-tell expressions for the characters (which is really nice) and has an interesting plot. The downside is that the plot is underdeveloped and what should be serious trauma is represented more like moody Goth behaviour. I guess this is to avoid the game becoming too dark, but if this is the case, why choose this theme in the first place. The main character is just awesome at everything, and the female characters all fawn over him in embarrassing desperation. This tends to be well balanced by the fact that the female characters actually have interesting personal storylines (more examples of the odd pros and cons of the game). The biggest problem with the game is the lack of music and sound - something that would make the game far better! The developer explained there was a problem with the audio track just before release but this doesn't appear to have been rectified, so be warned if you buy this game. If I had to score the game out of 10, I'd give it 6 points (decent sound would have upped this to a 7+).

Solid story, the art gets better and better as the book progresses. Lots of great moments in the story, and I'm always a fan when the writer doesn't lock you out of options early on. This one keeps your options open through out the story.
