Something Ate My Alien

This is a like a less fun version of Steamworld Dig. I didn't finish as apparently the boss fights are really annoying/difficult.

Very fun game. I have not gotten past my first planet and was not sure at first how much I was going to enjoy it but now that I have played for awhile I am hooked. This game does not have the negative of constantly having to consult a wiki or forum to figure out how to play. It is pretty straightforward.

Your air is running out and Something is lurking in the shadows. Hand painted 2D side scrolling puzzle solving, mining and collecting goodness are awaiting you in SAMA! You are tasked with collecting materials and scouting for objects as you are forced to do the bidding of another for their own benefit. This involves running around, jet packing, shooting, and lots and lots of mining of materials. Each planet has a unique look and is dispersed with an assortment of teleport spots, puzzles, and lots of materials to collect. As you progress you are also offered upgrades to your gear which help you to do more and progress in the game. Ultimately, you will be mining and wandering looking for puzzles to solve. while killing baddies and avoiding death. The puzzles usually involve a set of blocks with colors on them and a location they need to be moved. It's a bit like Tetris and a sliding puzzle with a bit of gravity. You enter a puzzle room and figure it out, resetting the room as needed, when completed you are rewarded of course, then move onto the next room's puzzle wherever it may be. Graphically it's beautiful, and looks amazing in 4K. The hand painted art feels like it was designed with a lot of love and care. Each tile and character has its look and feel, and you will stop playing at times just to watch everything on screen looking and feeling very alive. The GUI can be adjusted to suit your needs including the mini map which can be zoomed in and out to help you find your way. Overall it looks great. Gameplay is pretty standard, you move your character around and mine, shoot, jet pack, and repeat. Using mouse or gamepad makes the game easy to use and you should find yourself right at home once you get the feel of the controls. If using a gamepad, make good use of that "lock" button that stops you in place to aim/shoot. It will save your bacon many times as you hover and shoot those pesky baddies. Overall, its a well polished and solid gaming experience that I have enjoyed fully. It does have some quirks but overall it's a solid platformer that will bring you a good amount of fun and gameplay. If this sounds good to you, please try it, it is super fun!

Love this game! Playin at normal setting it's a nice mix of exploration with the right edge of danger and challenging but not too hard puzzle solving. Once you get the trick of the bosses, they're not too bad. But I haven't fought the last one yet.... I got stuck in Levantos (that place is confusing) and Ron was very helpful. I'm looking forward to the sequel!

Your goal is to dig for resources, put things together, dig some more, and enjoying the ongoing exploration. The highlight to me is that SAMA's gun is always satisfying to use. Oh, and the jetpack works great too in case you make the mistake of digging straight down. Puzzles are simple enough if you're paying attention but you'll easily mess up if you dig first and think second. The controls are responsive, but you'll absolutely want to remap them. Graphics are nice, being hunted is fun, and the music is relaxing but perhaps too understated. Either the digging genre of games is for you or it's not. If it is, SAMA is a worthy addition to the genre. If you've never played one before, its charm might win you over.

Tolles Spiel! Die Welten sind stimmungsvoll, die Steuerung sehr präzise und dass nach dem Update die Schwierigkeit im Spiel geändert werden kann ist super! Warum? Mir waren die Bossgegner sonst zu schwer, dazu fehlt mir der Nerv, nach 50 Versuchen verliere ich die Lust. Also spiele ich das eigentliche Spiel auf der mir passenden Stufe und schalte vor dem Levelboss auf easy, perfekt. Das ganze Spiel ist übrigens eher ruhig, für mich perfekt um am Abend etwas zu entspannen...

Граф Диего Мачете. [/i] Отринув в сторону пижонские умствования и словесные узоры, замечу, что игра в некотором роде уникальна. Единственный аналог, который мне известен, это Tiny Miner для Android. А суть здесь заключается в том, что игроку нужно исследовать 4 планеты в поисках полезных ископаемых, а также археологических и палеонтологических находок. Для этого, вооруживший передовым шахтёрским инструментом и бесхитростным бластером (для начала), вверенные в Ваши руки пришельцы, рискуя своими хрупкими жизнями, будут сменять один другого в случае гибели, прокладывать лабиринты тоннелей, и заполнять карманы полезными минералами, драгоценными камнями, газами, фрагментами скелета вымерших животных или предметами быта канувших в вечности цивилизаций. Проложенные пришельцами ходы будут напоминать огромный муравейник, добытые ископаемые позволят улучшить снаряжение, а интересные головоломки разнообразят игровой процесс, который хоть и однообразен, но меня пленил, приковал к монитору. К недостаткам можно отнести разве что слабый сюжет и отсутствие русского языка (хотя, разработчики не исключают возможность его появления).

Something ate my alien is a brilliant game for all ages with amazing graphics and intuitive controls. The game is "riddled" (pun intended) with challenging puzzles and a variety of enemies from the docile "Strank" to the more aggressive "Draker". The "something" (the boss for each level) has a good variety of different movements and attack patterns making it tricky to kill and an enjoyable way to say goodbye to each planet. I've been playing the game mostly on "normal" mode but I challenge anyone who dares to try to finish the game on "insane" mode. I've had great fun playing this game and I'm certain you will too! :)

Got recommended this in a random thread somewhere, and it's ended up being one of my favourite games of the year (actual release date irrelevant). There are a few different difficulty modes, including one called explorer which I am playing on, where you can happily whoosh about the map to your hearts content just finding stuff, or if you want things a bit spicier you can add a LOT more challenge. You lose your stuff on death but it stays where you died and you can go back and get it easily enough. The music is ambient chill personified, the puzzles aren't too hard but there are guides right here if you can't figure them out. I'm planning to go for all achievements and I hardly ever bother doing that, the game is just very fun and it's easy to get in the zone and lose a lot of time to it. Playing on deck and no issues at all so far.
