5.5/10 A free Klondike solitaire in medieval setting.
Good:
- medieval-themed music
- card backs and the card front texture are nice
- I love the politically incorrect store description of this game where the dev makes fun of office workers. We need more of that!
So-so:
- animations are fluid but are exaggerated to the point where they make the game uncomfortable to play. E.g. camera zooms in slowly when the stacks get shorter and zooms out when stacks get longer. These moves can lead to misclicks. When you pick up a card, it becomes twice bigger, so it even gets hard to see over which tableau it is exactly as you're moving it
- J, Q, K cards have medieval characters on them - which are okay-ish. They are done in low-poly 3D style that simply doesn't fit with the fantasy high-detailed 2D card textures. It's a stylistic mismatch that causes dissonance and confusion that may be hard to register. It's like "something is off but you don't know what"
Bad:
- you can't land a card over an empty tableau or foundation! The only way to move the card is just to click, and it's an auto-move. In fact, most of the game can be played like this - which is probably fine for mobile but takes out the actual gameplay. Though I admit, Klondike is too simple and mechical anyway...
- apart from chosing between "draw 1 card" and "draw 3" there isn't anything else. No options, no progress. So it gets boring fast.
Overall, it's an okay implementation of the basic Klondike game that's free and has some above average graphics. The controls are somewhat uncomfortable, and there is nothing that will hold you here for long. At least it doesn't have ads, so it's probably still better than Microsoft Solitaire (but it's only Klondike). Upvote since there is no "neutral" vote.
