About
In Solar Expanse, you take the lead of one of the early XXI century space exploration companies. Your goal will be to reach the planets, moons and asteroids of the system in order to mine and colonize them.
Optimize the costs and schedule of the flights. Mind that each object is in constant motion, so exact planning is crucial. Utilize the gravity effects and slingshot your rockets further beyond.
There is a multitude of objects in the asteroid belt alone. Some are made of water, others might contain precious metals. Deploy various telescopes, arrays and probes to know the system better and plan your next flights. Scan for the most profitable and useful materials. Research new technologies
Send your rockets and deliver the asteroids to Earth or colonies. Gain the profits to expand your corporation and start the projects on much larger scale.
In time, you will get contracts to establish permanent bases on various objects. Build fuel stations, launch sites, space catapults, elevators and entire colonies!
Your ultimate goal will be to make the moons and planets of different systems habitable. This task will take centuries, enormous resources, technologies and thousands of rocket flights. Drop the water asteroids from the asteroid belt on Mars. Mine Io and Titan for necessary resources.
Once you are done with the Solar System, build an interstellar ship. Once the game is fully released, you'll be able to venture into real and generated systems, such as Alpha & Proxima, Centauri, Trappist, Gliese & Kepler… you name them!

It is very early access, however there is very much a game here for people who love logistics. This is less of a 4x game and more space railroad simulator. The minutiae of moving materials and setting up regular resupply flights has lots to do with a successful playthrough. There is lots to like if it is your jam, with some caveats, the view port is rudimentary at best and doesn't zoom out to view all of Sol system this is just one example of a bunch of QoL features that are missing from the game but that is very much to be expected with a game in BETA.
TLDR: its a good complete game for early access, and management game with orbital physics is a nice touch. 10/10 would mine all oxygen from Earth to terraform Mars again. It has some very realistic elements, that I love. The terraforming is cool, the planets look change if you do it. Even the Luna can get green if you put effort in it. Cant wait for the Interstellar travel. Its a whole game compared to an early access, although could use more content, more events, and a lots of quality of life improvements, like micromanagement, mission planning, automatism etc. Good sign that I see the devs commenting on those issues under the reviews. Some elements are a bit silly, the AI player is super dumb, it supposed to be some sort of competition, but its not doing anything almost, plus you cant loose the contracts. The moons are so fixed, that I crushed Ceres into Deimos, and it did not increase the weight, altough Ceres is much bigger in reality. if you can push Ceres with 33 engines, you shall be able to move deimos as well, it would be great to just bring it down to mars. Ballance is a bit off, basically its not worth to use anything but fusion ships, they are faster and more effective than anything. its around 10-15 years of research to get them, Some faster time forward would be nice sometimes. If devs are reading, I encountered the following bugs (or features):
1. If you plan misson with non reusable rockets that are currently being constructed, the will not be used up. 2. Originaly the Earth market has a finite resourece, except when you want to build something that you dont have enough. Than you can build for money, even if Earth community dont have the resourses. Now you can buld a space elevator for 200M and cancel, send the materials to orbit and repeat, and you have a lots of money by the end to just buy everything. 3 When using Atlas to move an asteroid, it is using up all the fuel on constant acceleration, the UI is broken and basically you can move any asteroid in 5 days regardless of the amount of fuel you brought with. 4 some trajectories are going in the middle of the sun. 5. Interstellar mission has also infinite fuel if you click fastest, it completes in 3 month. that's waay faster than lightspeed :)
The game is very fun and easy to learn but is lacking more competition and more things to discover but I recommend to buy on discount since it is still early access
Very addictive!
game is quite easy to understand and is nice to play but please let us manage automated transport with usage of like when mars supplies are lower then X then transport like from luna supplies to mars if luna has like Y ammount so there wont be a planet that will keep sucking others from resources and leave other planets litteraly dry
its dry, its not exciting, but its a great game.
Very fun, excited to see how it gets further developed
