About
In Sol Cesto, your goal is to descend through the levels of a randomly generated underground world, diving ever deeper in search of the sun, lost for countless years. On the combat grid, choose one of four rows to move into. You'll then land randomly on one of the four tiles in that row: will it be a monster that harms you? A chest full of gold? Or perhaps a deadly poison trap? Anything can happen…
It’s up to you to weigh the risks of each tile as you clear the screen. Of course, your character will grow stronger, and magical items, special powers, and sinister curses will help you bend the odds in your favor and keep fate on your side.
5 biomes to explore, each hiding monsters and traps with unique behaviors
7 characters with distinct powers, stats, and abilities
Stone teeth that change the game’s rules and probabilities to tip the scales in your favor
Metal teeth that trigger devastating curses and combos
A wide range of items to eliminate enemies or escape dangerous situations
The strange underground inhabitants, some of whom may share their secrets with you
And many more surprises…

This is a beautiful game with neat ideas, but ultimately the reason I give it a thumbs down is that the game actually gets less fun the more you understand about it. Getting a strong run essentially allows you to click the screen randomly for 30 minutes with minimal thought involved, and there is not much variation between runs after a while.
I just bought this yesterday and I have been having a blast. I find the 4x4 grid layout to be refreshing compared to the old formula used in Rogue lights. It is pretty challenging. You have to balance your strength and your magic, you have to plan not just what move you're going to do now, but what moves you're going to do and three turns. You have to be careful about what items you use and how much gold you send back up to the surface to keep. I really like the whole power Dynamic with teeth that give you special Buffs and debuffs. All in all I think it's a really fun game. It's pretty busted when you play as the night starting out, but definitely finds it's challenges with other characters. I bought it because the art reminded me of double.king by Felix colgrave
When I downloaded this game, I played it for about six hours straight, because the initial game has lots of options for metaprogression which is one of my favorite part of any roguelite. However, as I went to bed, I started to feel that the game was too heavily based on randomness to really be worth sinking any more time into. I can't say what happened, but when I woke up the next morning, I saw through the matrix. I began to understand how to progress, how to avoid taking unnecessary risks, what types of decisions I could make to increase my chances of survival, etc. I ended up maxxing out all of the unlocks at about 14 hours. I set myself the final goal of getting a winning run with each of the characters, which I knocked out in another 7 hours or so. I will not play Sol Cesto anymore, but the 20 hours I had with this game were absolutely delightful. Yes, there are some valid complaints about the game: there is not much lore, some abilities are too much stronger than others, etc. But who cares? For a game you will play for hundreds of hours, those complaints matter because they means that runs can get repetitive and stale. For a game you intend to play for twenty hours, learning and finding the best strategy for each character is part of the fun! And by the time the game starts to get repetitive you have probably completed everything anyway and are ready to move onto other games. The gambling style nature of the gameplay is exciting, the luck mitigation elements are satisfying, the art is delightful, the metaprogression is pleasing and some hidden moments are hilarious. I highly recommend this game.
This is an amazing game with amazing illustrations and animation

Muy buen juego lo recomiendo
My eyes must be decieving me. But they are not the only ones telling me the sun has disappeared, When you hear about Sol Cesto for the first time, whether your friend finally ungatekept this jewel of a game or your YouTube algorithm sent you a godly recommendation, it is likely that you'll fall in love with the artstyle. Without playing even a single minute of Sol Cesto, you already know, by the stunning 2d fantasy atmosphere and the original use of paintbrushed characters, that you're in for the true dugeon crawler experience. Moreover, I've only played for about 6 hours and I know that the eye-pleasing visuals are backed by an amazing game design. Sol Cesto is full of intelligent mechanincs that give each run a unique feel, ranging from luck-based combat that isn't really random to knocking out a merchant to steal his items, The sun is gone. How deep will you go to get it back?
There are only 2 ways to really cement a win, and that with either health economy with teeth, or gold economy with teeth. Everything else is pointless and will not truly help as much as economy and health. Very boring in that regard, not even going to touch on probabilities not truly reflecting the chances the player has to get that result that's desired. You'll have more fun going to a gas station and getting a scratch off, AND feel properly rewarded.
