Old school feel. It's dope!
Found about this from a reddit post and decided to give it a try. My thoughts after about 20 minutes of play: Really hard to figure out where to go for quests when there's no map, mini map or quest markers. It's Early Access so I assume stuff like that will be added later. Jumping also feels a bit clunky. I like the battle system so far. It's also going to be a bit hard getting used to using the number keys as a "talk to npc" and "pick up quest item" functions. Not worth it right now but will see how it develops.
I wish Steam would allow neutrals as I would probably give one at this time but because I'm being forced I will recommend it for certain people, If you live on the East Coast either Eastern or Atlantic time this is a very lonely game, hardly anyone ever on during the day. Maybe a few more during the weekend but it has a very small player base I really hope the game catches thought it has tons of potential. I'm not gonna resay most of what the other reviews tell you, you can go read them for yourselves. One thing I will say and there is zone chat in the game and you can get groups together in game through that, but if you 1)don't like jumping puzzles 2)don't like or want to be on discord this is probably not the game for you. I've been playing the game for about a week and a half, I think there's probably 50 people at least on Discord I've never heard a peep from. I think there's more than a share of people have either bought the game and refunded it or have just put it on the shelf and given up, maybe I'm wrong. Now that the doom and gloom is out of the way, the game won't hold your hand at all, but the people in the game will help you out as much as they can, if you absolutely can't figure something out they will if needed take you right to it, I don't recommend relying on this as it's way more rewarding finding that npc in the mist after crawling around for 20 minutes all by yourself ect ect. Even though the current player base is small they are also tight and very helpful. There are measures put into the game to deter and kill bots so even if down the line this game blows up and has tons of players bots won't be an issue, and there's no P2W from the shop, it just cometic and the only thing you get right now with the current(optional) subscription is item storage. There is no way to transfer stuff between your characters but most players will help with that as needed and they can be trusted. The current level cap is 20 and after level 15 you pretty much have to group up to either get xp or to progress your gear past vendor gear, even if you can solo fights for xp it'll be so mcuh downtime you have to at least duo. With the amount of times people are not on the game it might be tough. Levels are almost meaningless stat wise except traits you get at level 5-10-15, everything is about gear levels mean almost nothing. The dev is really solid and will even help out in game if something game breaking happens he might even hop in and fix it on the spot till he can patch it, he's quite active on discord, and you can tell this is a project of love and passion and will absolutely not be abandoned. Anyway I do recommend the game for the right person, honestly if you get bored with other mmos at times, then this will probably not keep your attention for a huge amount of time but grab it and jump in if you want to be a part of something that will for grow over time. Also the reviews of people that got the product for free are the beta testers, great people and they just beat the final boss of current content
Unity asset flip, don't buy.
Don't judge a book by its cover. This game has been absolutely fantastic to play with friends or solo. The developer is an absolute beast and does a great job and is beyond transparent with the community. Very active in discord. You can tell this is a passion project that comes from a place of wanting to be the change he wants to see in the gaming industry. If you are thinking about trying this game. DO IT. join the disc and see how close this community is. Play this game.
The game has a solid foundation, a very passionate player base, and even more passionate dev! Right now the game does lack overall content but you will get your moneys worth just from whats in the game right now with even more to come such as the UNDERGOUND! 4 Professions 4 Classes Tons to Explore Dungeons End game Bosses Amazing Community!
I have played about 3.5 hours so far and got to around level 7 as a warrior . I have so far enjoyed my time playing the game. I think the main idea behind the game such as the platforming and turn based combat provide a refreshing take on the genre as a whole that works quite well. I think there are a few things worth noting for new players: 1) This game does not hold your hand - there is no minimap, questlog or markers to point you in the right direction 2) The discord is a must, this is a small community at the moment, however I have found everyone is willing to help and you can find a group relatively easily. Sojo is HARD , and that's OK! I know for many people the first point will turn a lot of people off, however I would say that it brings back something long lost in the genre. The chance to explore a game. So often today in the modern mmo scene before I even start there are countless guides about how to play my character and where to level and do etc that there is no real sense of exploration or experimenting with what works. Anything other than the defined 'meta' puts me at a noticeable disadvantage. I think people should also realise that this game isn't being developed by a big studio and so should manage their expectations. Sojo's [strike] missing [/strike] features encourages you to engage with the community and explore the world to slow down and chill rather than rush to complete things as fast as possible. This is something I've been looking for a long time, and something I've missed on the bigger mmos. Overall, currently I would give 7/10 I will update the review once I get further along the game and have played a bit more but for now this is a promising small mmo that I look forward to sinking more time into, and recommending to friends.
Enjoying the gameplay so far. Tried out Rogue and Mage. Both are very unique. Rogue is fun learning how to sneak, I think a few aspects of that ability need to be tweaked but I'll be checking this game out quite a bit more going forward. Worth the initial investment!
The game is so awesome, it's the most respected role-playing game to me, I very much like the battle system that was shown and I played, and the quests I saw in the video are much a creative and similar to Asheron's Call 1, the best dungeon was to me the Jahannan Vault, because I like to jump in the game, as it puzzles me, that the game has its battle system up close and alike to Final Fantasy games, it's a first type version of battle system it seems to me, that the character models are alike to Lego's that I had so much fun playing as a boy and role playing a Lego toy, equipping armors and stuff, and interacting with a past cousin in a house in the bay area, the games trust worthy, I bought it, it plays, and I have seen a player in the game, I recommenced playing the game, as it progresses, it seems it's being perfected, a starter maximum level of 100 would be very good, 20 is at its start though, so it's kindly created, try to find me in game, known as "Amad", the music is alike to Asheron's Call 2, it's a great domain feeling and emotion, of an ambient sound track.
Looked at a few negative reviews, given there is no map and it would be nice to at least have a map and minimap. However, who needs a quest log? It's not really necessary unless you want your hand held, it gives more reward when you do things. It's unpolished, has some good ideas and is a cool little game. It has potential, and i'll keep an eye on this. Also, it would be nice to have NPC name tags.. just a few simple adds to this would make it much better. However, the main functions and mechanics are there including swimming (which believe it or not many games do not have) please keep working on this, listen to the community and it'll grow.
