This isn't great, movement is extremely janky. You'll recognise the movement animation from games like Only Up. So while the climbing and walking feels okay, the moment you start sprinting, you're gonna bump into everything. Shooting is not bad but you're gonna encounter a lot of zombies that just flat out ignore your bullets. Zombies laying down cannot take damage, they are designed to spring up and hurt you if you walk near them. Cut-scenes are okay, not terrible I guess, and the voice acting isn't great. I can't tell if its amateur voice acting or AI, no offence if it's the former. My biggest question is, why is this characters panties on show? Every time you die you're gonna be greeted by Sofie's flange spread eagle for the boys. These reviews are also questionable, there are 7 first time reviewers and every negative review is being disregarded by Steam, I don't get it?
I am so sad to not be able to recommend this game at this time. It has a good idea in mind and I think it needs some love from the Developer to truly shine. I received the game for free on Keymailer and even so I could not play the game longer than an hour before I had to change games. Honestly I was done with it at the 20 minute mark, but I wanted to give it a solid go. I rarely rate games poorly, but it was BAD. Upon entering the game, the only direction is to "run"... with no indicator of keybinds, which direction, or even a purpose as to WHY we are running. I died dozens of times to try to figure out the very first "puzzle" which feels like it should be a little bit more of a gentler intro to the game. I played for an hour and the puzzles were more like finding a way to block the enemies so you could shoot them or get away before something else happened. The story started to come together through tiny bits and pieces around the map, but would easily be missed if you did not go and pick up every scrap of paper. Movement controls are not fluid and feels janky to play. Shooting is not bad though. I am also unimpressed by the fact that every death scene was met with seeing the characters underwear. If you are appealing to 12 year old boys perhaps this is good, but in a game saying it is about a serious storyline, perhaps not. I was hoping for a Resident Evil style game with puzzles, fighting, and strong storylines. I was sadly disappointed in pretty much all areas, and I am hoping many of these things get adjusted. If you like laughing at bugs/glitches, bad rag dolling, and underwear shots, this game is for you, otherwise, it needs work. I am also suspicious about the number of positive reviews on Steam... almost all positive ones are by people with this game as their ONLY review EVER. Feels like review farming.
Gris, Journey, Oxenfree, Night in the Woods, Celeste, The Last Guardian, What Remains of Edith Finch, Alan Wake, A Plague Tale, The Last of Us. What Remains of Edith Finch и подобными проектами?! 4/10 https://youtu.be/LS27Cy7ChQA
I can't recommend the game at the full price. I don't even want to continue the game in the state its in and I got the gme for free. I had more fun laughing at the bugs/glitches and problems of the game with my Twitch chat than enjoying the game itself. No clear objectives that I ended up stopping because I literally did not understand where I needed to go and was stuck in a room on constant spawning zombie and not enough ammo to defend. So many hilariously bad rag dolling, like going down a zipline and hitting the end which is the back of a truck and ragdoll onto the floor. All the sounds seem to be loud apart from the gunshots itself. Even sofie's clunking heels are louder than a gunshot. Ignore a lot of the positive reviews as they're posted by accounts that are so new that even their profile hasn't been set up so assuming it's bots trying to boost the game rating. (ones that do have account set up, one game review and even commented on each others profile)
After playing this game for over three hours, I’m still clueless about anything beyond what’s written in the Steam description. If you’re looking for a hilariously broken experience, this might be the game for you. Here’s a quick rundown of what you can expect: Footsteps that sound like clanging metal on concrete Random, ear-splitting explosions Gunshots that don’t register A character that drifts off the map or into obstacles No storyline or clear objectives Getting stuck in random objects without any “unstuck” option Bizarre sound effects, like phantom chairs scraping across the floor As a streamer, I shared a lot of laughs with my community while struggling through the glitches and questionable design. "Sofie" often looked like a ragdoll, and every interaction with the game’s world was as confusing as it was amusing. I genuinely can’t tell if parts of this game were made by humans or generated by AI—it’s that chaotic. If it’s really being sold for $15, I’d have a hard time recommending it to anyone, even as a joke. I received it as a gift, and if you’re curious, you can check out the VOD on my channel (Twitch: traz3rtv, 11/09/2024) for a good laugh. I had high hopes from the trailer, but the experience was nothing like what I expected. In my opinion, the majority of positive reviews seem... questionable at best.
"Sofie: The Echoes" invites players into a third-person action-adventure story, following Sofie as she embarks on a haunting journey to find her missing husband and son. Despite its strong premise and some atmospheric settings, the experience was dampened by various issues. Pros: - Compelling Story Concept: The premise from the cut scenes seemed like that start of a potentially interesting game. - Atmospheric Level Design: The environments are well thought out aesthetically in a way that could work good for games in the horror genre. - Immersive Sound Design: The game’s sound tech seemed to really pull through in what they did. Cons: - Frequent Glitches and Soft Locks: In my brief playtime, the game glitched and soft-locked on three occasions, forcing restarts and breaking immersion. - Inappropriate Death Animation: The death sequence includes a forced view of the protagonist’s red undergarments, which feels unnecessary and detracts from the serious tone. - Overall Lack of Polish: A range of technical issues, such as frame rate drops, unresponsive controls, and inconsistent animations, indicate a lack of refinement. In conclusion, it holds potential with its atmospheric settings and intriguing story concept, its technical flaws and some questionable design choices make it difficult to enjoy fully. With more polish, it could have been a compelling experience. Score: 3 out of 10 echoes—A promising journey hindered by too many technical missteps and a lack of finishing touches.
did people really rate it positive just for virtual panties? the game is a broken mess... im beginning to understand Kim Belair now, maybe shes not so bad for the industry

Note: Review Is written based on the state of game at launch. Sofie: The Echoes is the first title both developed and published by Working Game Studio. It is a self-proclaimed story-driven, third-person action-adventure title boasting horror and compelling narrative elements as you play the part of Sofie, a determined wife and mother. Through combat, exploration, and puzzles in a “dark world”, you will be tasked with unraveling secrets to ultimately save your family. However, despite this enthralling narrative, the only thing I found unraveling was my patience and sanity, ultimately leaving me to wonder: What on Earth WAS going on here? From the get go, things were difficult for Sofie. On the heels of a somewhat delayed launch, I was eager to sink my teeth into something new and fresh. What I found, however, was anything but. Character dialogue reads at the cadence of an awkward baby giraffe, lending me to potentially believe there is some use of AI as far as voice work is concerned. Immediately this makes what should be a highly compelling story very hard to latch on to. Odd pacing and awkward sentence structure will leave most players scratching their heads, so distracted my the sheer fragmentation and lack of care the story will fall on deaf ears. Unfortunately, on a graphical standpoint, many of the same issues echo. Lacking in any great detail, levels feels very angular and static. Parlor lighting tricks and the occasional overturned asset really do little to cover the fact that the game is really quite threadbare. Items look stark with occasional blood-splatter for flare- while you might notices mismatches or odd sizing that is just scaled incorrectly enough that it makes you tilt your head at the feeling of Uncanny Valley you are constantly caught in. Enemies all look very similar, and while there is some variance, you can’t overlook each of the troops being carbon copies, nor the mass majority of “zombies” being the exact same model. What they lack in brawn, the certainly do not make up for in brains- constantly getting lost, hung up, or suffering from nothing short of a full-scale break down entirely, making no attempt to move or attack. Controls feel floaty, and work at a very primitive level. While I appreciate there is even an option to take cover, it doesn't serve any real practical purpose. As delicate as your health is, you entirely lack the ability to lean out from said “cover” to open fire. Instead, you woefully glitch about a foot in the air, shimmying along the wall. Death will be swift, I promise. Even should you forego taking cover, gun play is sloppy at best, feeling weightless with no real kick. While some enemies drop magically with one poorly placed head-shot (the hitboxes are “generous” to say the least), other will never succumb to their wounds, and endless bullet sponge for you to empty your entire store of ammunition on. Ultimately, in it’s present state, Sofie: The Echo is bordering unplayable. Coated in a thick layer of spaghetti-code crawling with bugs, there’s just not enough substance here to drive players past the initial frustrations that are so glaringly obvious. Lacking core functionality, no guidance or tutorial, ghastly voice acting and an unbelievably disjointed and ill-paced story, it is obvious this title needed more time in the oven. While the trailer shows promise of a wildly thrilling journey of a determined mother and spouse, it becomes rapidly apparent that it comes in Dead on Arrival. Hopefully the developers will be able to make some much needed adjustments, leaving it’s present state as nothing more than an Echo of the Past.
Unfortunately unplayable and not ready. Softlock after about 2,5 hours (of bad gameplay, with many bugs, errors, weirdness, and wild hitboxes), in the train section, the key to the floor compartment stopped spawning after each death/reload. Meaning - softlock. And what's even funnier - there is no way to manually restart some sections or anything. It's just "continue", meaning - I needed to restart the whole game from zero, just to get to the same point 2,5 hours later, and STILL have 0% certainty if the same thing with the key will happen again. Besides that - horribly unoptimized on m RTX 3060, drops to 15-20 fps on one/two levels (1440p DLSS Performance), bad animations, bad visuals that definitely don't justify the optimization. Audio/voice overs are kind of meh, but then again - it's a pro, instead of a con, I guess. 2/10 is what I rated it, after having to ragequit because there was no way in hell I'd replay it from the beginning just to get stuck in the same place. Nopey nope. Unfit for a commercial release, unplayable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnJW4yOuTBs&t=2895s - my longplay, or "longplay" as I wasn't able to finish the game, recording of my woes with the game, all visible for everyone to see.
