About
The Ultimate How-to-Socialize video game for the Socially Curious!
Social Caterpillar follows an introvert navigating the exhausting task of socializing. Interactions are puzzles that need solved. The more you solve, the more energy you gain to explore... but only if you can ignore the wet whispers of the mysterious Yellow Voice...

Solve a myriad of puzzles, each with its own internal logic.
Exploration and experimentation reveals layers of secrets.
A story told through set pieces and implications.
Adjust CRT to preference, from NONE to EYES BLEED.
Maybe there's a hidden ARG in there. Maybe.
Sew. Shell. Eyes.
Your Social Battery determines how far you can wander from the safety of your home. Interacting with people will drain your energy, but, like with any exercise, that energy will return greater than before. Grow and strengthen your little introverted larva until it becomes a big, strong caterpillar. But be careful: the comfort of the cocoon can be hard to escape.
An excellent and innovative hidden gem you should not miss
Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆ (to credits) Difficulty: ★★★★★ (to 3rd ending) Playtime: 2-4 hrs (to credits), 7-10 hrs (to 2nd ending), 20+ hrs (to 3rd ending) Very cool and interesting concept, you play as an introvert forcing themselves to crawl out of their shell to socialize (relatable lol), gaining mental energy to push further. The puzzles are about pattern recognition in social interaction settings, which is mostly what you will need to reach the 1st ending. But then the focus shifts and you have to uncover secrets, hidden puzzles and minigames. If you have played Animal Well, this game has a similar postgame, layered meta secret hunt going for it. The 3rd ending is very difficult to reach. Very approachable, recommended for both causal play and hardcore puzzle fans due to its layered design. The price is absolutely a steal for the effort that went into this game. I really hope this game takes off and doesn't fly under the radar, because the puzzle design is stellar.
What started as a game I randomly found while browsing my steam discovery queue, quickly became one of my favorite games I've played in awhile. When I first stumbled upon this game, my immediate thoughts were that it looked very abstract and interesting and I thought "Oh well I'm DEFINITELY an introvert so maybe this could be a fun way to help me learn how to be more extroverted!" Well that wasn't entirely the case! Social Caterpillar is a very unique and meta puzzle game that teaches you early on to pay attention to your surroundings cause there could be secrets hidden everywhere! Early puzzles were simple enough to figure out solutions too and while walking around there were many instances where I could feel myself agreeing with the yellow voice, knowing it's words oh too well. Every interaction filled me with that looming anxiety I'd feel as if I were really involved in that interaction but I pressed on. And it was so worth it. The game has 3 different endings labeled A, B and C. For A, the journey was simple enough and while there were some puzzles I didn't fully understand why the solution was what it was, I was able to make my through without much hassle! It wasn't until I got to hunting for ending B that the game truly opened up to me and I started to really get invested in my search. Finding hints and secrets scattered around, arcade games tucked away, and maybe even part of a hidden ARG? There was so much to find and with each revelation I kept yelling at myself "WHY DIDN'T I LOOK AT THAT EARLIER?!" but it was so much fun! And what ending A and B both say are both incredibly well versed. Then I got to ending C and I found myself in a struggle. I won't spoil how to get it, it's easy enough to figure out how on your own, but the journey to getting the requirements was one that at times had me raging but it never took away from my joy when I finally had that eureka moment of figuring out...albeit with some help from the discord community. I should also note, after I got ending A I had encountered a bug that was patched immediately afterward but was still affecting my save file. Posting on the discussion forums, the dev invited me to their discord and got me fixed so quickly and the community was so helpful and amazing in leading me the right way with hints that never spoiled what I had to do. So I guess in a way the game did make me be a little more social huh? Overall, though my honest thoughts are this is an easy 10/10 game for me with the ONLY puzzle I really disliked was music lessons but I could see others who would enjoy that one. If you're reading this, stop it, go buy this game! The developer honestly deserves all the support and I even picked up the soundtrack for it, partially cause the music was great, but also because I want this dev to be supported to create more unique and amazing games! I don't write reviews almost ever but this was one game I felt needed to be seen by more people! Now if you'll excuse me I have to go and try to do this... so shell eyes thing I keep being told about!
Excelente jogo!
puzzles
i know that i have only scratched the surface but I am really excited to continue discovering things in this game! After getting the first ending i have realized how big the game really is.
this game rocks
The puzzles in this game are super well designed, some of them are genius. This game has so many layers to it and was way too engaging. You might find yourself playing it for hours and think that minutes passed :)
Phase 1: IQ tests, good fun Phase 2: ancient murals and modern logos interpretations, minigames, and hyerogliphs translations, very aha! moments Phase 3: not there yet. This is a very good puzzle game, very original, nothing is too easy, you will work your brain out and receive great satisfaction from it if you like this kind of games.
Take a deep breath, and sit down. On whatever you're playing on and understand that this game will not tell you anything. It is up to you to figure out how it means to navigate this world. It will not hold your hand, but It will show you everything, and all the clues are there for you. All you have to do is find them. You are an introvert, but maybe, that's not all you are.
Quite the hidden gem of a game! A great puzzle game with a great message that did truly resonate with me Puzzles in the base game are fun and simple while still offering a challenge as you progress Hidden puzzles in the form of "Little Expressionless Animals" (LEAs) are a wonderful addition to seasoned puzzle solvers And the "ARG" is a great extra secret that helps cap your save file to 105% Overall, a wonderful experience, and one that kept me thinkin' about it for a good while after I've finished it!
