A proper sequel to what I considered to be a game with a very solid base game mechanic. Coming off as a mix between Snake and Break Out, it captures their respective arcade addictive nature in (usually) short bursts of gameplay. After each round you're inclined to play it again to either go for achievements, unlock the different modes or just try to place better on the leaderboards than your peers. At no point did I feel any semblance of frustration rather a sense of accomplishment after improving. On the presentation side, there's a wider variety of skin customization now. Not only blocks and palettes are customizable like in the first game but the snake itself is as well (which you might wanna take into account for some of the achievements). The main track also changed to a more jazz-like tune and I personally prefer it over the old one. Menus now have their respective tracks as well and they are not half bad either. Back to the gameplay, one of the added features was the inclusion of different modes. They include a more chaotic chaos mode, an endless mode where the board just keeps expanding and a combination of the two. They were actually really fun to play for a while and they have their own leaderboards as well so you could prove your skill in them as well as in the classic mode. In short, having the option to play different modes makes the gameplay loop more engaging. Side note regarding the endless mode, its achievement took me a very long session to earn and that wouldn’t be much of a problem if the game didn’t start chugging and slowing down after a while. In fact, the run was 2 hours long according to the game but in reality it lasted for 443 minutes. Maybe not many people will see this as a problem unless they really get into it and it might have to do with my setup but I’ll mention it regardless as one of the only gripes I had with the game.. Lastly, whileI don't have much to say about the multiplayer mode since I couldn't play it much, the one time I did I had some connection issues during some rounds. It was a while ago so by now it must have probably been fixed. Apart from that, I can see the mode being attractive if you're able to find someone else to play with. Too bad the game itself already has a very reduced audience no matter how many times I’ve tried sharing it. To sum up, even if you didn’t like the first game this one will most probably grab you for a while so you should give it a shot as it’s pretty cheap. I find it a good option to play it during work breaks or in the background to pass up the time so it’s accessible time wise. With all the added content mentioned above I have to give my huge props to the dev and I haven't even mentioned the flavor text that comes up depending on your score.
