Fun and definitely a friends game
It's the same as the first game with like one QoL change that I like, which is it actually tells you the jungle camp you're supposed to start at as a side laner. Other than that, it's the same awful game on a new engine. Leavers in every match, teammates/opponents who are clueless and play like it's Call of Duty, and overall very poor champion balance. Some skins look pretty nice but the character animations are all jerky and just look rushed and awful. And worst of all, it has no high highs. Most MOBAs are fun when you're winning and tolerable to agonizing when you're losing - except when you launch a sweet comeback, which is always very satisfying - but when I win in SMITE I'm just kinda like uhh... okay... It doesn't even have fun ragdoll physics like HOTS so I don't even get a cathartic kill that sends the enemy that's been pissing me off into orbit while my team is getting pulverized. 2/10 just play Deadlock, that game is actually worth learning and has a great community in comparison.

Solid game, I played the first one but not much compared to others. I don't see what the issue is with people complaining its almost the exact same as the last game. I feel most complaints come from skill issues or just nostalgia for the previous title.
DEVS BROKE THE GAME CATERING TO A CERTAIN GROUP OF BABIES. THIS GAME HAD A UNIQUE CHARECTOR BUILD AND PLAY STYLE SELECTION THAT WAS DESTROYED BY A SERIESE OF UPDATES BASICALLY TURNING SMITE 2 BACK INTO SMITE 1. IF YOU DONT PLAY THE META BUILDS YOU CANT EVEN ENJOY THE GAME. TIP TO DEVS, DONT MAKE A NEW GAME IF YOUR NOT GOING TO KEEP IT NEW, JUST RE SKIN THE OLD ONE AND GIVE IT A FLASHY NEW NAME. WHILE TWEAKS, NERFS AND BUFFS DO EQUAL OUT THE GAME PLAY, THE NEW UPDATES DESTROYED THE FLOW OF THE GAME. THIS WILL LOSE NEW PLAYER BASE ONLY CATERING TO OLD PLAYER BASE. WAS 9/10 - NOW UPDATED TO 2/10, ONLY SAVING GRACE THAT ERANED 2 POINTS IS HOW WELL THE GAME RUNS. FOR YOU WHINERS WANTING IT TO PLAY LIKE SMITE 1 - GO PLAY SMITE 1
I loved Smite 1. I played Smite 1 an unhealthy amount of time, and spent a ludicrous amount of money on it knowing full well the skins I was buying would be temporary. Hi-Rez sold some skins at the end of Smite 1 that would be unlocked in Smite 2 when those gods came out in the second game. Hearing this I got each of them and said: "I want to support this game so I can play more with my friends. I want them to continue to work on this content. Keep up the good work, Hi-Rez. Rough start with Smite 2, but I bet you guys got this." Some of those skins are in Smite 2 and free if you bought them in Smite 1. Some of those skins say they are free if you bought them in Smite 1, but you still have to buy them. I dealt with a lot of BS over the years with Hi-Rez. I kept at it because I loved the first game, I loved the focus on mythology, and I loved the friends I made while playing (some were sweats, but most were chill and I still talk with daily). This practice of selling a product, promising a product in both Smite 1 and Smite 2, and then not delivering the product - I'm done. Hi-Rez, you lied. You took my money and you didn't deliver. Did you send a refund for your failure to deliver? No. You lied and you stole from me. I will play this with my friends because I like spending time with them. Hi-Rez will never get another cent from me. I will never recommend this game to anyone. In fact, I will recommend people avoid this game and Hi-Rez as a whole.
No es pay to win.
