For a proof of concept. I feel this game as potential. For what it is its okay. AI art aside. The game as a rouge-lite is the part that grasped me the most. The characters are interesting but somewhat bare. Their gameplay gimmicks are cool but I feel they need a bit more to stand out. I love the secret character and feel stuff like that needs to be praised. They play wildly differently to the others and I loved that. For record I have beaten the game 100%. Its not bad. I just feel this needed more working out to be a full game. I have played worse and this is quite okay. I still love the concept. But as it is I cannot really recommend this game as it plays more of a proof of concept. If you ever feel about continuing this concept in a possible sequel to flesh out the gameplay I would be quite interested.
The Game Is Ok Though It Could Use More Added To It As Well As Some Improvements. I Like That You Can Choose Three Different Final Bosses To Battle. One Boss Being Laughably Easy, One Semi-Strong And The Other Being Tediously Obnoxious To Beat. 1: Add Leveling Up And Allow Us To Spend Stat Points On Attributes. Level Ups Will Reset When You Beat The Game Or When You Lose. You Can Use The Gold You Collected To Buy Permanent Upgrades And Level Ups. 2: Instead Of The Man Wishing To Be A Woman Make Him Wish To Have A Harem. Also When You Are Playing As The Man Make Him Gain Female Allies That He Beats And Have Sex With Even The Female Bosses. 3: Change The Boobat's Appearance. Instead Of Flying Tits With Bat Wings Make Boobats A Nude Bat Lady With Big Lactating Breasts. 4: I Want To Be Able To Play As Female Enemies You Encounter. 5: Add H Scenes And H Animations Especially Defeat H Scenes And Animations.
Simple yet addictive. Mostly recommending because I think Boobat should be a staple of the fantasy genre.
Summary:
This game is what I would call short, but mostly okay. There's a couple of caveats that may be a turn off. The regular price tag is reasonable. On sale, you could do worse. ( 5.5 out of 10 ) Grab it on sale if you are okay with the caveats.
Technology:
This game uses RPG Maker MV. This section is for information purposes only.
Visuals:
The visuals are your typical anime / hentai RPG Maker game. They are fine, but there are no animations. We are going to have to talk about the generative AI aspect. I'm going to admit two things of note, the first is that I missed that part in the description before buying this. The second thing is that I bought this in December 2024. The AI disclosure is there in the product description. The irony is that this budget adult game is more honest than some AAA publisher's max price microtransaction laden game. The response of the developer is that if generative AI wasn't used, the game would not have been released. At the very budget friendly price, especially on sale, this is a little more acceptable to me. If this is a deal breaker, I get it. Especially when you look at the damage AI is doing at the time of this writing.
Audio:
Audio is there. The game music and special effects I think are stock material that is part of the RPG Maker suite. The credits do mention voice acting, but I'm guessing it's part of the combat audio set. There is no spoken dialog in the starting chamber.
Game Loop:
The initial over arching loop is pretty grindy. The strategy that worked for me starting out was to focus on making money to fund runs in the future. This part was a bit of a slog, but after a few runs I was self sustaining. Once you have some money and don't have to dump gear for every run, things open up and get more fun. At that point, each run consists of the following goals: 1) Complete a run with each character. 2) Locate all of the pictures. 3) Try to make sure you have money set aside for future runs. The sub loop is in each room you will see these fireball looking things. These are the enemy monsters. You have to defeat some number of them in order to progress to the next room. Later in the game there are a couple of branching points. You can use these to partially guide what the final boss fight is. It's not deep and complex, but it is serviceable and the game play kept me entertained.
The Good Stuff:
There are a collection of uncensored stills and the character's look is modified as you play through a run. These still images are not censored. Some character card changes are subtle. Other changes / upgrades as you progress are very obvious. Expect no animations other than during combat and those are okay, but very limited. The fifth character may be a turn off for some players. If you are a completionist, get them to the end and just don't worry about it afterwards.
It's a guy who is slowly transformed into a female. They aren't all that excited about it either. I haven't tried it, but I want to try a run where I just skip the upgrade chests that transform him.

How To Improve This:
These are points where the game can be improved and maybe the development team will work to address these shortcomings. This list is in order of what I feel should be prioritized. - Some more equipment choices / combinations : Once thing I found a bit disappointing was there was a basic pool of gear and some of them were magical " +1 " variants and that's it. It could be interesting to have some build variance where you can tweak a number of stats based on gear you find or buy. - Some rooms have items that are unreachable : Occasionally an item would be stuck on an island with no way to reach it. If there's a unique item that lets you cross water/lava/fissures I missed it. It comes down to doing a check to verify that there's a connector to such islands or if no connector to the island exists, don't put anything there. This was just annoying to deal with. - Something you get to keep after a successful run : This is something that Halls of Torment handles very well (pun intended) and there might be a good way to riff on that approach by getting a special permanent item you can equip when you start a run. This might require an extra equipment slot to be programatically possible. Ideas for the item might be things like a small boost to one of your stats, regeneration, lots of luck but lowers everything else, your sx energy bar fills constantly and you take damage if you aren't in combat. This creates some replay options for different builds and more 'collect them all' value. - Create some achievements : This is a good "hook" component for any rougelite game. This idea would combine well with the previous point. There are basic feats that are fairly easy to get and then there are the more 'fancy' ones. Again, see " Halls of Torment " for some frame of reference. - Add some audio voice overs : I'd like to hear at least some of the dialogue. - Work out how to ditch the use of AI for future projects : I get that it's not easy or cheap to hire artistic talent. The flipside is, in my opinion, the growing disdain of AI making anything bearing its use an automatic skip in some circles.
