Slide!!: ~~~~~ As many of you know, I enjoy playing casual puzzle games every so often. Some are very easy and others might get your brain going at 100 miles per hour! Slide is one of those games that looks easy, but requires that each puzzle be completed in under a certain number of moves and under a certain amount of time in order to earn three golden stars. So, how does it work? Slide is a casual / puzzle game where you have to move colour blocks to their respective colour tile to successfully clear a level. First, Slide has over 100 levels to complete and three type of difficulty: easy, medium and hard. The first ten levels are part of a small but good tutorial. Then it will become progressively harder as you complete each of the 25 stages per difficulty. If you manage to do all of that, you’ll unlock another 10 bonus levels. At the start of each stage, you’ll have a certain number of colour blocks which you have to slide to a checkered tile of the some colour in order to win. Also, it might vary as to how many blocks you have, and how vast or compact the mazes are. Let me tell you it can be a bit tricky, especially if you’re competitive and want to collect three golden stars each time. You can only slide the boxes vertically or horizontally and they won’t stop sliding until they touch either the outer wall or another block. If two of the boxes hit each other head on, they’ll automatically bounce back and you’ll probably lose two moves out of it. Sliding a box is pretty simple to do; just move your cursor onto a box, click and move your mouse forward, and the box will slide upwards. If you want to slide your box downwards, select it with your cursor and move your mouse backward. Same thing for left and right. Bear in mind that every now and then, you’ll have to coordinate a few boxes to slide at roughly the same time; when they hit each other it will cause one box to stop moving which will allow you to create your next successful move. Graphically it is well presented and the soundtrack is gentle and smooth. I do think the controls could be better though, especially when trying to launch a box in one direction. Selecting boxes can be an issue every now and then. It can be a bit frustrating if you want to beat the time. Positives: ~~~~~~~ + Simple and nice graphics + 100 Levels to complete + The difficulty increases has you progress + Achievements Negatives: ~~~~~~~~ - No trading cards as yet Overall, a nice casual puzzle game. Slide all the boxes to the checkered tiles! 6/10 Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes. Any opinions expressed are entirely my own! slide!! is a game with things you'd expect from a sliding game like this, and some things you wouldn't, so it's definitely one of the more unique offerings in the genre, yet sadly still relatively unknown. your goal on each level is to make the colored blocks reach their respective destinations. this is achieved by sliding said blocks in one of the four directions. they won't stop until they hit a wall or another block, but one of the things you wouldn't expect in a game like this is if two blocks hit each other head-on, they bounce back and go their separate ways, so you have to slide them so that one hits the other from the side. this means, of course, that timing is a thing here. many levels can only be completed by coordinating the movement of the blocks, which in turn means you'll be often moving more than one of them at the same time. if I were reading this review, this is where I'd stop as I'm not a fan of such mechanics, but I'd be a fool because if your only goal is to complete each level, you won't have too many problems. there are 100 main levels, 10 tutorial, 25-25 easy, medium and hard, and 15 bonus, plus if you manage to 3-star all of them, a bunch of secret levels get unlocked as well. 1 star is awarded for completion, 1 for not exceeding the turn limit, and 1 for not exceeding the time limit. as I said, simply completing the levels shouldn't be an issue, if I could do it, everybody can. turn limits are a bit trickier, but they should be doable with some effort, though be aware that undo counts as a move! it's very handy to have while experimenting, but once you're doing a level for real, might as well restart instead of using one because you'll run out of the turn limit, though I did manage to complete a few levels with 1 move left to spare. the time limit is a whole different ball game though. or block game in this case. limits are really strict, even some tutorial levels need a few tries if you want to get all the stars and you really need to be on top of your multitasking game to succeed later. there's a 'turbo mode' that makes things a bit faster, including block movement, but it doesn't change the time limit, so you'd think it's cheating and makes the whole game trivial. well, think again. though I'm sure there are people who can get the timing right even in this mode, but I gave up on time trials during the tutorial, don't need the extra stress, but appreciated things moving a bit faster. I usually don't like it when there's only the very next level available to play, but since completing one without the extra challenges is easy enough even towards the end, it wasn't a huge issue, you can always go back to earlier levels, but of course to get 3 stars, you have to pull off beating both the time and turn limit in one go. from a technical standpoint, it's mostly good, resolution options and windowed mode via the unity launcher, separate volume settings, and even music speeds up while in turbo mode, which I found really cool, as it didn't turn into anything annoying. in fact, in the 2+ hours it took me to go through the levels (mostly 1 star, admittedly, 2 or 3 would take considerably longer), I didn't have to turn off the music at all, which is rare in puzzle games. it's not exactly memorable, but definitely suits the game and it's not distracting or disturbing at all. I mentioned undo above, always nice to have, there's also level reset, but at the time of writing there's no hotkey for either, nor for the pause menu, but they might get added sometime later. and currently the timer starts as soon as the 'go!' prompt disappears, potentially losing you valuable seconds, but they might change it to only trigger when you make your first move. and there are a few levels where the goal is a bit harder to spot because of the fixed angle and some walls in the way, but it's not a huge issue. despite myself I ended up enjoying the game, which became a lot less stressful for me once I ignored the timer, and a bit later the move limit as well for the most part, so no secret levels for me, but the game has a level editor and workshop support now, so there should be some extra content there, or you can always start making your own levels. the price is more than reasonable as well, even outside a sale, and years after release the developers are still around, adding to the game and interacting with players on the forum, so if you like casual sliding games and/or want to overcome a really tough, time-based challenge, definitely pick it up.
Doesn't make a great first impression, graphics/sound/menu are bit klunky, but there's some interesting mechanics here once you get into it. Level editor will keep things interesting too.

Trippy Games Group Curator
Description
Slide!! is a cute little puzzle game that reminds me of an older puzzle game you might play on your early iPhone or a flash game, and that isn't a bad thing. It's simple mechanics make it very easy to understand from the first glance, and its casual design makes it the perfect kind of game for booting up when you have time to kill, solving a few more puzzles before you need to go do something else. It's not the kind of game you would want to complete in one sitting, but instead over a long period of time with breaks taken between. The base gameplay is very simple, requiring you to maneuver multiple colored blocks to their respective goals, by clicking on them and flicking them in the intended direction. If you can accomplish this within the target number of moves and in the time limit, you will earn three stars on the level itself. The more stars you earn, the more bonus levels you unlock, which offer an additional challenge.
Positives
There are 100 levels in the base game, but thanks to the developer opening up the window for user generated levels, there is a potential for an infinite amount of content should the player base continue to produce puzzles for the player to solve. From the puzzles I’ve played, I’ve found that the difficulty does properly scale, with a the puzzles gradually growing more difficult the farther in you go. Sometimes a puzzle is incredibly easy to solve, but the obvious method requires you to make too many moves or it takes too long to hit the time limit, requiring you to study the level layout to discover the proper route. No level is so difficult that it requires you to get stuck for too long, and if you cannot solve it with the flawless, three-star execution, there is nothing stopping you from moving on and coming back with a fresh eye. The graphics are simple and easy to digest, and while some might call the art style bland, I tend to see it as a more “form over function” style of graphics, where the lack of any distracting visuals allows you to focus in on the simple base gameplay without risk of getting distracted or overwhelmed, which would result in you losing time.
Negatives
However, I would be remiss to say the game is perfect, because I do have a few minor issues with it. The controls, while simple, can be somewhat frustrating, as making rapid, precise movements is quite difficult with the expected control scheme. To further the frustration, the time limit can be surprisingly strict, as even if I managed to make a near flawless attempt of a level I’d still only pass the time limit by less than a second, and it can be frustrating to constantly retry a level that you already have the perfect solution for until you can get it just right. Finally, the game is rather slow, as the blocks themselves move at a very slow pace. Now I understand this slower pace is to allow for more precise movements and problem solving, as if the blocks moved too quickly it would be nearly impossible to pull off some of the more precise movements required for some of the puzzles. And, to the games credit, it does offer a “turbo” function in the settings, which does speed the game up. However, turbo mode comes with its own set of problems. Because the game’s time limit is so strict, the use of turbo mode guarantees that it is almost impossible to get the level within the time limit, because the margin of error is so small and the timer speeds up to match the gameplay. This means that, if you are attempting to three star every level, turbo mode is not an option, requiring you to play through the very slow movements.
Closing Thoughts
I found myself enjoying my time with Slide!!. It’s a cute experience that has a surprising amount of charm for its simple gameplay and art style, and while I do have a few minor issues with the game, none of them were so much of a detriment that I felt that my experience was poisoned to the point of leaving a bad taste in my mouth. If you are reading this, you already know whether this style of game is for you or not, but I can assure you that the game is very enjoyable if enjoyed in short bursts. I fully intend to take my time with this game, playing it on and off when I’m in that mood of “I don’t know what to play” that occurs from time to time. If you enjoy casual puzzle games like myself, Slide!! is worth the bit sized price point. Final Score 7.5/10
Головоломка как головоломка.
The idea behind the game is very simple but those rules combine to make some great puzzles. It's a long while since I've played a puzzle game so my brain is hurting a bit now but looking forward to completing it at some point! Each level awards up to 3 stars, one for completion, one for doing it within the target moves and one for beating the target time so even when you complete a level you'll want to come back to get the rest of the stars. Especially if like me you got a shameful 30 moves on a level that can be done in 7 or 8! There's also a level editor which allows you to make your own puzzles to torture people with! The game is a bargain and definitely worth giving it a look.
