About
You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess.
You're here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world.
She will do everything in her power to stop you. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. You can't let that happen. Don't forget, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.
You're not going to listen to him, are you? We're supposed to save princesses, not slay them...
Features
Fully voice-acted by the impeccable Jonathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight.
Hand-penciled art - every background and sprite is drawn traditionally with pencil and paper by Ignatz-winning graphic novelist Abby Howard.
A princess. She's very bad and you have to get rid of her for all our sakes.
No, the Princess isn't a “cosmic horror,” whatever that is supposed to mean. She's just an ordinary human Princess, and you can definitely slay her as long as you put your mind to it.
Don't even think about trying to romance her. It won't end well for you.
Hopefully you won't die. But if you do, you'll die a lot. Be careful and stay focused on the task at hand!
A branching narrative where what you say and what you believe determines both who you are and how the story unfolds. Though I wouldn’t recommend taking any paths outside of the one I lay before you.
A new roleplaying experience from the creators of Scarlet Hollow.
Slay the Princess is a choice-driven psychological horror visual novel/dating sim with dramatic branching, light RPG elements, and hand-penciled art.

Reviews
This game honestly changed me. This is the first time that I've ever written a review for a game, so I wanted to write it after I fully completed the memories and it is absolutely my favorite game as of now. The different endings and choices were unbelievably fun to go through, and I know even now that I haven't went through all of them. Playing this game made me feel like it's actually possible for me to make the visual novel game I've wanted to make for ages, and the beautiful art felt like a reminder that I need to draw more often, even though things like AI have been making it feel hopeless. This probably sounds really dramatic and my review won't make much of a difference, but this game seriously made such a huge impact on me in the small amount of time I've spend playing it. I don't really buy games that often, but if I could play it for the first time all over again, I would do so in a heartbeat.
Beautiful Game. One of the only I ever really rated on steam. would 100% recommend along with DDLC plus if your a fan of horror eccentric visual novel games.
Interesting story and narrative, definitely worth it. The Pricess will live rent-free in my head for some time.
Not a type of game I've ever played before, but really good. I want to keep trying new things to see what happens
It's poetic, very artistic in all aspects. I enjoy it every time I play.
idk, its just, so peak
Thoroughly Enjoyable!
I'm not usually into playable novel games like this, but wow. I don't think there's been a "choose-your-own-adventure" game quite like this for a very long time. I can guarantee that you'll love this game.

Writing & Storytelling
10/10. The writing of this game is superb and is something that every game developer from indie to AAA needs to study. It was not written "for an audience" or "to a market". It was written, clearly, from the bottom of someone's heart as a creative act. These are the games that will stand the test of time as classics, and this game is among those. It's very clever, very nuanced, and well-delivered. It starts off very unassuming and very standard, but it quickly becomes the most unhinged, off-the-rails experience that I've had in a very long time. I won't really talk about the content itself much to avoid spoilers, as the twists and turns are so important to the experience of the game. Just know that you're in for one hell of a rollercoaster ride!

Art Style
The art style is charming and imaginative. It guides you just enough to visualize the narrative, but leaves enough unillustrated to allow room for the best graphics engine in the universe, your imagination, to fill in the gaps. This is why so many of the games of the 90s and 00s were so classic - they relied on you to fill it in just like reading a book. The horror is visceral and surreal, so if you're in to that - great! If you're not, well, why are you playing a horror game?

Music & Sound Design
The music is great - just enough to provide some undercurrent and direction and mood, not so much that it takes over. If I have a complaint I would say that it is a little repetitive at times and could use more triggered track layering on certain events or development. Some of the music tracks could have been mastered a bit better but I understand that this was an indie game on a tight budget. That's a very nitpicky criticism as I'm a composer/musician. They do save the big music for the big moments and the score can quickly crescendo to something giant and sweeping at the right times. The sound design is superb - a big part of horror is audio and boy do they get this right. You will definitely be scared and unnerved by some of the really surrealist sound effects that they have created for this game. Best played in the middle of the night for maximum spooks!

Final Thoughts
I've had this game on my wishlist for a long time and I finally picked it up and I am so impressed by what I stumbled upon. I didn't really know what my expectations were, but I wasn't expecting such a rich story and grappling with a surrealist existential treatise on the nature of being. I strongly recommend that this game should be in the library of every Steam account holder! Bravo to all involved!
good
My favorite game of all time. The story is top notch, the art is breathtakingly beautiful, there's so many choices and possible outcomes, it's impossible to get bored with it. If I could play it for the first time I would absolutely would a million times over, this game had for real changed my life.
One of the best games I've ever played.
