Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Aug 19 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
BUG
[/strike]
If you like having to hit the same block multiple times in order to remove it from the field then you're in luck, as that seems to be the only trick the blocks have. The blocks can be various shapes but, up to level 16 at least; there's no invisible, exploding, permanent or otherwise interesting gimmick blocks.

This game isn't good for my heart. I play all sorts of exciting modern shooters and platformers, but they don't keep me on the edge of my seat at all times. The music is of the lovely cheezy synthy sort that evokes happiness, and the sound effects manage to do the same. This helps a bit with my heart condition whilst playing. I'm very thankful that I stumbled upon this game. It's quite a bit more responsive than other pong-like games I've played on Steam. Very fun. I hope to beat every level.
Slab is a compact arcade experience built around one of gaming’s oldest and most recognizable formulas: keeping a ball in motion with a paddle while systematically destroying everything positioned above it. Developed and published by Smash The Code, it draws heavily from the traditions established by Breakout and Arkanoid, but presents that familiar concept with cleaner modern visuals, power-ups, achievements, and a structured collection of stages. There is no complicated narrative or progression system demanding attention. The entire experience revolves around reflexes, positioning, trajectory control, and the simple satisfaction of watching a crowded playfield gradually become empty. The basic controls are easy to understand, yet playing effectively requires considerably more precision. The paddle moves horizontally along the bottom of the screen, and positioning it correctly determines whether the ball remains in play and where it travels afterward. This makes seemingly minor movements important, especially when only a few awkwardly positioned bricks remain. Instead of simply reacting to the ball, experienced players can attempt to influence its rebound angle and send it toward particular areas. The emphasis on precise paddle movement gives the otherwise minimal gameplay a welcome element of skill. The main campaign contains 50 individually designed levels. Different arrangements prevent the stages from feeling completely interchangeable, while custom bricks introduce varying breaking stages that require multiple interactions before disappearing. As levels become more complicated, clearing the final few targets can become considerably more demanding than eliminating the initial clusters. This creates a pleasant escalation of tension because a nearly completed stage can sometimes prove more troublesome than a full board. The game consequently works well for short sessions while still offering enough stages to provide a sense of progression. Power-ups are the biggest source of mechanical variety. There are 15 different types, and their effects can significantly alter the rhythm of a stage. Players begin with three hearts and can obtain additional lives, providing some protection against mistakes. However, pickups are not universally beneficial. The Instant Death power-up actually removes a life, forcing players to identify what is falling toward them instead of automatically collecting everything. This combination of useful and harmful effects introduces an additional decision-making element into what could otherwise become an overly predictable loop. The difficulty is generally produced through increasingly demanding layouts and the speed at which players must respond rather than complicated rules. Losing the ball can be frustrating when considerable progress has already been made, but that risk is fundamental to the appeal of traditional brick breakers. Slab understands that tension and rarely distracts from it with unnecessary mechanics. At the same time, players who have little affection for this particular arcade genre may find the repetition difficult to ignore. Regardless of changing layouts and power-ups, the central activity remains essentially unchanged from beginning to end. Presentation is similarly uncomplicated. Bright colors and clearly distinguishable objects make the action easy to follow, which is particularly important when the ball begins moving rapidly through groups of bricks. The minimalist 2D aesthetic is functional rather than technically ambitious, but it complements the arcade design. The game also includes multiple music tracks, helping give longer sessions some auditory variety. Nothing about the presentation attempts to compete with visually elaborate modern games, yet its simplicity makes sense for an experience where readability and responsiveness matter considerably more than graphical spectacle. Achievement hunters receive another reason to continue beyond merely completing the stages, with 67 Steam achievements currently attached to the game. These complement its score-oriented arcade structure and encourage players to pursue additional objectives. The Steam page still lists leaderboard functionality among its features, although the developer previously announced that leaderboards were removed because of cheating. This discrepancy is worth recognizing because competitive ranking should not be treated as a guaranteed part of the present experience. Later updates also addressed performance, keyboard paddle controls, ball behavior, interface details, Linux issues, and several bugs, demonstrating continued refinement of the underlying game. Its greatest limitation is ultimately the same characteristic that makes it appealing: simplicity. Anyone expecting extensive customization, deep progression, narrative development, or dramatically evolving mechanics will probably exhaust what it has to offer fairly quickly. The advertised campaign provides more than two hours of gameplay, making this a deliberately modest arcade title rather than something intended to occupy dozens of hours. Replay value therefore depends heavily on enjoying score chasing, achievement hunting, improving accuracy, or simply returning to brick-breaking gameplay for occasional short sessions. Despite those limitations, the game accomplishes its primary objective competently. Its 50 levels, multiple brick behaviors, 15 power-ups, limited-life system, colorful presentation, precise paddle movement, and extensive achievement selection provide enough variation to prevent the classic formula from feeling entirely bare. It does not substantially reinvent the brick-breaking genre, but reinvention is clearly not the intention. Instead, Smash The Code delivers a straightforward tribute that preserves the immediacy and accessibility that made this style of arcade game popular in the first place. For players nostalgic for Breakout and Arkanoid or anyone wanting a lightweight arcade game that can be understood almost instantly, Slab is an enjoyable if relatively modest choice. Its mechanical foundation remains satisfying, and the increasing challenge gives the campaign enough momentum to carry it through its relatively short duration. Players seeking innovation or extensive depth may come away wanting more, but those interested specifically in precise, uncomplicated brick-breaking action should find a polished interpretation of a timeless concept. Rating: 7/10
cool game. i bought it right away while browsing bc it reminded me of a game i played almost 20 years ago called breakout or breakthrough. the ball is a lot faster in this version tho that much i'm sure of.
