Overall an interesting short game with some cool mechanics. Although the game is in a mostly linear setting where you have a pretty clear idea of where you need to go, it offers some room of exploration and different paths to take. The graphics and atmosphere are also decent. One thing I noticed is that there is no option to discard an item in the inventory, which could be inconvenient when the inventory is full and you need to gather resources to craft a new item. The ending is fairly open and leaves lots of room for a sequel. EDIT: There is actually a "recycle bin" at the bottom of the inventory so that you can discard items from the inventory. Didn't see that at first.

Ein sehr kurzes Spiel. Bei all dem, was es sagt anzubieten (Erkunden, Crafting, Geheimnisse, etc.), wirkt es wie eine Demo. Kostenlos dazu. Ach, also was meckern?

Alright, so I just beat the game and I was actually somewhat invested, I could tell that the game wouldn't have that much to offer but I eventually got curious as to what happened to this Amelia. Unfortunately the ending isn't very satisfying and the game cuts off quite abruptly. The setting is quite nice, I will always appreciate fantasy landscapes and with the help of the pretty decent soundtrack and effects I found the atmosphere pretty immersive, though it very much shows that the islands are arranged so that you travel through them in a mostly linear path. There weren't any graphics settings so my FPS wasn't the highest but on a good computer it should be fine. The gameplay mechanic was interesting but also awkward and buggy so in some parts I kept falling off over and over. The monster attacks are also a bit buggy, for example I got hit when it was standing quite far away from me, facing the opposite direction. Overall, the game isn't great but I still had a somewhat decent time and would recommend it to anyone who's just looking to kill about 30 minutes of time and expand their repertoir either from a videogame or artistic perspective Update: I beat it in 4:17 lol https://youtu.be/rkA6qn4UTRk
Short, cute, and thrilling! There are moments where my heart raced as I tried to navigate around the creatures. There were also times where I caught myself just gazing at the afar floating land masses. Def would buy this if ever made into a full game.
Sheesh! I like using the rope, it gives me many death-defying moments that feel good especially when I jump off a ledge mid throw and it hooks on. I do feel like a rugged adventurer!
"Skylost" must be a student project or something. This is a simple platforming adventure game with a minor crafting element as you progress through a linear slog of floating islands, doing a little bit of 3D platforming. Mario Galaxy, this is not, however, the whole thing can be finished easily in less than 10 minutes. What do you do in the game? 3D platforming, pick up a couple of things to make a grappling hook, etc... I'm sure this must be a student project. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 7 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
I hate to leave negative reviews on student projects, but I can’t in all good conscience recommend this game. Traversal, the game’s fundamental mechanic, is super buggy, and it feels like you’re actively punished for mistakes you had no control over. The crafting mechanics don’t mesh well with the rest of the game and it’s easy enough to beat just using the rope, so there’s not really any incentive to seek out other recipes.
