Basic Info
Genre: 2D Combat Platformer Difficulty: Medium-Hard I streamed the game at twitch. In Skykeepers you first play as Pelagi, the son of the Sky Keeper tribe's chieftain Tangi. Pelagi is ready to be come a man and receive is Tatua and become the new chieftain. In order to receive his Tatua, Pelagi must get a special log and a special leaf to make the ink for his tatua. Pelagi picks a corrupted leaf and gets hit by an illness. In the second part of the game, you play as Tangi, Pelagi's father. You have to rebuild the Sky Keeper tribe after your son's illness. And of course honor your tribe's ancient task of defending against the Wa'Kine, evil spirits, In order to rebuild you must save villagers that have been kidnapped and do quests for the villagers that remain. In doing so you are rewarded with a stronger tribe, which in turn means you can rebuild and upgrade. Rebuilding and upgrading lets you more easily traverse the increasingly difficult levels. You have the ability to spirit walk, which is teleporting. You can teleport to Sky Keeper stones and damaged enemies. The game has dodging, parrying, basic attacks and special attacks. You start with 4 different special attacks, but as you go on through the game, you can unlock new special attacks. You can do mid-air attacks and combo it with teleporting to the damaged enemy and then do special attacks. You can also wall-jump. The game runs fairly smoothly even on older machines, but the controls are slightly unresponsive and very floaty. Wall-jumping is iffy, as half of the time it did not connect and the other half it did not wall-jump as I wanted it to. The game has a 2D art-style and a Hawaiian theme. The soundtrack fits the theme very well and the sound effects are top quality and help you being immersed. I also encountered a pretty game-breaking bug involving bugs, quite literally. When ever you encounter flies, if you do not manage to kill them fast enough and they perform their 'dive bomb' attack, you get locked out of your dodge, parry, attack and special attack. All enemy animation halts as well, which means that you can not complete the room you are currently in and will be forced to re-start that section. This is ANYTIME you encounter flies. This is evident in the last hour of my stream. If it were not for the floaty controls, iffy wall-jumping and the game-breaking bug, I would recommend this game. I want this game to be good, I really do. I want the game to be good, but floaty controls is a no-go in any platformer and a game-breaking bug like that is just not okay.
A 2D Action Platformer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7PBFrnC1YU + Fun fast-paced combat system. + Visually the game looks quite nice. + A grapple mechanic which allows you to fling off various obstacles, and fly towards hurt enemies which lets you continue your combo. + Enjoyable challenging bosses - Movement / platforming can be a bit stiff, and doesn't flow as well as I'd hoped - The range of your weapon is quite small - I found it a bit annoying that you can't break an enemies attack. When an enemy starts to attack you can only roll or parry to avoid it so when you are in the middle of a combo, you either have to stop attacking or take the hit.
Great Game! The mechanics are really unique and work out very well. Super addicting!
Very fun game with an extremely enjoyable combat system. Game becomes quite challenging at times but this only adds to the overall experience.
If I were to describe this game in one word it would be "smooth." The story line is smooth with no loose ends. Animation is smooth, along with no delay attacks and almost seemless platforming. Overall it is a great singleplayer game and I would recomend it to anyone.
Seems like a pretty fun and great game, but the controls are unbearable (on my 3rd party controller) at least. The game thinks the A button is where the X is, the B instead of the A and a bunch of other crazy stuff. Please make it so we can modify that, otherwise solid game
Super fun, challenging combat! Controls are fairly intuitive and everything feels super smooth.
This game is awesome! I really enjoyed playing it. It looks really good and the dialogue is actually pretty funny (at least at the beginning). It reminds me of playing Mario, but better action. A fun game and easy to learn, and gets more challening as you progress through the game. Worth buying for sure.
Super fun, the combat's challenging at first, but the combos feel great once you get the hang of them
Love the game, great story and characters.Buttons feel natural. Very addicting.
