There's a lot to like here. Fast aerial combat, decent variety (drones/weapons) for an early access game, and awesome controls. The leveling system and skill trees all seem reachable too, which is a plus when a lot of games these days feel like you need to put in hours to complete upgrades. Yet, it was extremely fun to play match after match. The core gameplay is super easy to pick up, but working as a team and finding the right fighting style for your drone will take time to master. The only thing that's somewhat of a negative was that I kept on encountering 120+ pings in some of the matches that had more players (I think it was 8v8). Any of the other matches were totally fine in the 30-50 range. I'm no expert on networks, so I can't say anything more than it was a bit of an annoyance. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this game ends up. If it's at all interesting to you, make sure you pick it up! A few things I would like to suggest: + The ability to choose match size/gamemode + Defend/attack a payload mode (maybe a drone deployment ship or supply ship of some sort) + A water themed map (aircraft carrier or an oil rig)
Really wish there was a Neutral Button instead of thumbs up and down. Looks great, drones fly smooth, aiming is easy, controls are simple and your hands are not scrambling and reaching for keys. Gameplay is simple and reminds me of a mini version of Unreal Tournament 2004, You capture a Node/Control Point, defend it or attack it and you collect points for your team for controlling it until you get to max points then win. Now the current problems - The player base is really low. Took a while to find a match only to be paired as a "rare" 2v2. Most players get 1v1. But even at 2v2, its just missing everything that could make this fun. The actions is bare bones without other drone players. Pretty much its lets hover strafe eachother and see who dies first. Obviously you have skills to use and multiple directions to move included ascending and descending, which are all good and unique to the gameplay, but almost a whats the point. I am pretty sure, but not 100% positive, that in my first match there was already an aimbotter. I will give it a benefit of a doubt that it was a better skilled player with ridiculous tracking, because there is no killcam in this right now to really confirm, Just a spawn camera. I will try to come back to this in a week and give this a positive thumbs up if it changes. The one thing killing this that would make it dead in the water is the small player base.

Still early days for DSF however I feel that it is a great game so far with a very solid foundation to build upon. I find the best games to be domination matches, but there are also TDM and KOTH modes included. The developers seem very open to suggestions from their playerbase on discord too which can only be a good thing for the game moving forwards.
Drone Strike Force is pretty sweet so far! I have a pros and cons list, but I'm pretty sure the cons will be resolved soon. Pros: - Vertical combat - Easy to start - Quick Matches (so you're not stuck in a long drawn out match you don't want to be in) - Not Pay to Win Cons: - Hardly any players late night/early morning (I work nights so can't be on during the day) - Not being able to select a game mode - Getting placed in a 1v1 or 2v2 match Overall, great potential if more people join. I would love to see a game like this be successful, I'd even be ok with cosmetic microtransactions! I would definitely recommend this game and I hope to see more people joining soon!

Follow The Cpt Froggy Club Curator Page for plenty more!
Upon loading the game you’ll find yourself in the Garage, where you will be able to choose one of three different drones to play with. The three drone types are the Raptor 1000 (Hunter), the Sky Reaper (Combat)and the Megadon M9X (Sentinel). The Raptor 1000 is the smallest and most evasive of the three drones with its High Acceleration and Top Speed. However, its Health Points and Energy are very low. That said, this isn’t the type of drone you want to go toe-to-toe with the bigger boys on the playground. Where the Raptor 1000 excels is using its Stealth Skills and High-Speed maneuverability. The Sky Reaper is in the middle ground of the three drones; its Top Speed is about seventy-five percentage less than the Raptors. Its Acceleration is closer to the Raptor’s, but still a little bit slower. However, it has more Health Points and Energy, making the Sky Reaper a good choice for an all-round performance. The Megadon M9X is the big bully of the playground; its Top Speed and Acceleration are much slower than the other two drones – it's built like a tank! High Health Points and Energy means that it can take a spanking much longer than the other two. There are various other drones which you can buy from the market when you’ve earned enough credits. You can select the drone you’d like to play with from the bottom of the screen. Here it will display any drone you currently own, positioned in the centre of the garage. Each drone, when selected, will display its Weapons, Skill, Items and Perks. In the bottom left corner is where you can edit your loadout, change weapons, skills and perks that you currently own. All drones have two weapons at their disposal along with one skill, two items and perks once the second of each has been unlocked. You can also customise the look of your drone with Skins, and these can be unlocked by either completing objectives or buying them with credits. Beside Garage at the top of the screen is the Market here you can buy new and more devastating weaponry and drones. Next to the Market is the Tech Center; here there are the three drone types (Hunter, Combat and Sentinel) Research Tree. Each of the trees consist of Perks, Items and Skills and are indicated by corresponding shapes in the research trees (Circle for Perks, Square for Items and Hexagon for Skills). Each of the research requires various amounts of credits to research them. In the top right-hand corner, you’ll find your Name, Rank and any Credits you currently own. Once you’ve chosen your drone it’s time to hit the Battle Button in the bottom left of the screen. This will then start searching for a game for you to join. Sadly, I haven’t been able to find an online game running currently. However, after a minute or two I am being directed to a Skirmish match with bots while it still searches for an online match. I do like this as there’s nothing worse than watching a clock display the amount of time you’ve been sitting around waiting for a game. The downside of this though, is that you don’t gain any experience, or credits to help you rank up and unlock new drones and equipment while in this mode. Looking at an older screenshot I took, I notice that on the Garage screen, it said Server Status and Server Online in both bottom corners. This isn’t being displayed currently, so it could be the reason why I’m not finding an online game. The game is in Early Access so things like this are to be expected. In the options you’ll find settings for Graphics (Display Resolution, Window Mode, 3D Resolution, FPS Limit, Anti-Aliasing, Post Process, Shadow, Texture, Effects, V-Sync and Motion Blur). In Audio there are Master, Music and Sound Effect sliders. Finally, you’ll find options for Controls - Mouse (Sensitivity and Focus Sensitivity Sliders and Invert Look), Movement, Weapon, Item and Skill key binds which you can customise to your own preference. You can play using a game pad or keyboard and mouse; I personally preferred using keyboard and mouse over the game pad. Even though I haven’t been able to play online I have enjoyed playing against the bots as it searches for a game. The game runs very well, it’s smooth and I like the graphics. I’ve only played one map and there isn’t any way to change to another map or to change the difficulty of the bots currently; a bit too easy at least for me (MODESTY GOES HERE). Hopefully this will change in the future as again it is Early Access but so far, it’s looking very good. One other thing I’ve had trouble with was when trying to use my Item on the Sky Reaper, its Sentry Turret. I’m able to select it but unable to place it down anywhere, hopefully this will also be sorted in the future. I would say certainly keep an eye on the game; it’s fun to play and runs very well! The only let-down currently is that there are no online games to find, and you’re unable to rank up for the better equipment. Positives + Very enjoyable to play + Easy to learn + Good graphics + Runs well + Play against bots while waiting for an online game Negatives - Struggles to find online games (but it is Early Access) - No achievements - No cards currently Choose your drone, equip its weaponry, learn new skills as you battle against other drones for supremacy of the skies. 6/10
Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes via THE CPT FROGGY CLUB!
Awesome game. The movement feels fluid and intuitive. The diffrent classes/droes and weapons make you play very diffrent, its a blast! Can highly recommend. The game is still in development and gets further improved so it can only get better. I can highly recommend this game. The playerbase is low but dont let that keep you away from this blast of a game. I organize matches for Drone Strike Force so just add me and help the game grow slowly over time!
