Really fun game fighting wave of harder and more aggressive enemies keeps you on your does. Something you can lose hours in or do a qick run, and great for any one who enjoys game like it
Tedious and filled with amateurish and annoying design flaws. You start in a room which is made up of smaller pod rooms. You open them up, bump into the monster or hold your ranged button to attack that way. Pick up random scrolls and loot chests. Problem is, the depth of the gameplay here lasts for about 2 minutes, and then it's boring because it keeps going, with no variation of any kind. Just run around, bump into monsters, no skill, forever apparently. I never died and I really don't want to keep playing find out what happens when I do, so I uninstalled and refunded. I need skill-based games, not just infinite grinds with a little randomness. Its a competent enough job for an amateur developer. The attempts at humor in the tutorial were cringe-inducing and not funny. Not only that but they got in the way of understanding the mechanics. I don't need lame memes in a game's tutorial. Music was clearly ripped of from Raiden and PowerRangers, etc which bothered me a lot. Skip this.
Really loved the game. The narrator's voice fits very well. The gameplay altough it's fun and addictive, I had some trouble getting use to the lock 45 degree attack angle. Needless to say, it is a fun game. Can't wait to play it with someone else to experience the multiplayer.
It's a fast paced Gauntlet style game.
Had a great time so far playing Skein. Nice pixel art, nice sound and music, smooth fastish gameplay. Great to play for when I got half an hour time to do what I want to do between things I have to do.
What a bloody fantastic game. Absolutely love it. No doubt this is going to be a regular go to game for me. Perhaps, I would say that this is one of my favourite indie games this year (along with a great little hardcore platform game called Duck Souls). Things I love about it so far are: - Fun pixel art style (reminds me of the classic Gauntlet game). I really love the colorful style and the amount of enemy guts that ends up on the floor. LOL. - Simple old school game play but with lots of scope to experiment with special magic abilities (including combining different abilities). - The strategy of deciding whether to fully clear a level to get all the loot or to sometimes cut your losses and go to the next level and pray for some quick potions to restore wealth. - Strategy decision of how to approach clearing each room and in what order. - Four different characters with different combat styles. - The whole time your health is reducing so it is important to move quickly. So there is always a balancing act between playing defensively and just going nuts. - It is just fun, fun fun. - There is a local co-op option that I haven't tried yet - but I think should be fun. This is a highly recommended game for me. I can't rave about it enough. There is only one negative. In the tutorial there is a very long monologue that tries to be humorous but just didn't work for me. For this style of game, I think the tutorial should be quick and to the point. Sure I could have just skipped this, but I feared that I would miss out on something important. That said, I actually like the voice over in the game, which provides a friendly reminder when you run out of mana or when you are close to dying. I don't want to finish on this negative. My advice is to just buy this game. I would happily pay much more for the game. I will update this review after my 100th hour, which I suspect won't be too far into the future. The last time I had a feeling like this about a game was Binding of Isaac Rebirth (which I am up to about 400 hours on the PS4),
This is just pure pixel madness!! <3
If you are into Gauntlet, Heores of Loot, Heroes of Hammerwatch, Iron Fisticle... This game is for you!!!
I do love gauntlet games - the first roguelite! Its a positive review and first impressions were very gauntlet like, however I do hope that the developer might think about changing the player movement to not be stuck to tiles. It makes it feel a bit sluggish to respond and inaccurate.
Love it when a single developer creates a good game. I also enjoy Gamemaker and this game was made using it. Fun game to play. Haven't played it with another player, but will as it seems it would be a romping good time. Love procedural generated levels. If your wondering if you should get it, DO, you won't be disappointed.
