Game needs a lot, and I mean a LOT of work. It's a cool concept and I like the fingerboard level aswell as the ditch level, but its just not possible to consistently land tricks and grinds. I understand that theyre going for a real physics sim but you have to give the people a way to actually enjoy the game and do tricks. I'm so tired of developers releasing unfinished games and calling it "early access" Also the kickflips make no sense. In real life you kick the board at the same time you ollie. In this game you have to do it by ollieing first and then really quickly flicking left like a late flip. Thats the only way to do a kickflip without the board spinning all over the place finish the damn game and then release it, it just leads to frustrating experiences.
harder than actually skating

The Most underrated Skating game there is.....The Van Has poured his heart and soul into this game...more than the Session DEVS. This is my go to as a skater knowing what a skater wants instead of DLC after DLC after DLC. The Van has given us what we wanted within a WEEK OF ASKING FOR Fingertips and we got them !!! I will be putting more hours into this game than Session due to the lack of their unreal progress and lack of grabs. I dont know how The Van did it....but he did it better than session (NO CAP) with no Payment for DLC/MODS. Honestly if you Sk8 IRL and you have a understanding of what physics are...This is the skating game for you....This game has more worth than True Skate with mods and Session Combined. THE REAL DARK SOULS OF SKATEBOARDING GAMES !!!!!!!!!! Get good or not at all !!!!!
fun game but not worth full price get it on sale if you wanna try a skate game thats different but if you played many skate games like i have youll notice somethings in this game feel off like they cant be done or something idk how to explain it get it and youll know what i mean but there is still some fun to be had here
This game has the potential to be the best skate sim hands down. Judging by the pace of development I think you'll hearing allot more about this game soon
It's pretty nice, but I think it's way too expensive for an early access.
Very meh. probably gonna ask for a refund
TLDR: Its a digital Tech Deck, if you miss/want that feeling. Buy it now, otherwise, wait for sale. SkateLab isn't really game, moreso its a "digital toy." The board handles like a fingerboard and the scale of a lot of the locations lend to that feeling. The physics are less like Skater XL and Session and more like TouchGrind or TruSkate. You can get a decent amount of fun simply flicking and wailing the board around like a monkey, but there is a lot of joy to be had really learning the way a board actually works. Seeing how scoops and flicks actually affect the board is a treat, as you don't have animations to rely on to help you flip the board. Any and all inputs you apply to the board affects it. Place your foot on the rail of the deck by accident? Board starts going crazy. Flick really cleanly but too slow? The board will probably land upside down. Stuff like that really gives you an appreciation for the art of finger-boarding, and skating as a whole. All in all. I recomend.
I wanted to have a little more playtime before making a review but I was extremely impressed right off the bat with this game. Maps are beautiful the game really brings an appeal to the fingerboard community. I was already aware the controls were gonna be really hard to learn and im still trying to get comfortable but with that in mind I'm having a blast playing this. The simplest tricks and lines bring hella satisfaction. I would say this is the perfect mix between an extremely precise and harder to control (in a good way) version of Skater XL and fingerboarding combined.
Good simulator, but the board spins around the wrong axis making any flip/shuv (treflip for example) combination impossible
