It's simply one among many, but the game checks all the boxes for a decent platformer. This is the story of a knight who lives alone and peacefully in the forest. It's all good until the monsters arrive and get too comfortable. He tries to persuade them, yells at them, but nothing works. He puts up with them until one of the monsters knocks over his garbage. The knight then loses it, gets a sword, and promises to kill every single monster. The gameplay is conventional action platforming, but it's fluid and somewhat fun. It's all extremely simple because the knight merely has a sword, a jump, and a fireball that must be purchased first. The sword is the game's distinguishing feature. It can be used for normal attack or thrown at stuff. The damage dealt by both attacks is the same. Because the sword is magical, it returns to the knight each time it hits. Even if you miss and it becomes stuck in the environment, you can simply call it back by pressing a button. But, because the sword is bouncy, you want it to get stuck most of the time. This allows you to access higher ledges. The game is linear so you don’t get to travel anywhere you want. You go through five different worlds. Each is made out of several screens or stages, and you can’t move freely between them. They don’t offer anything new. There are moving platforms, holes to jump over, and spikes protruding from the ground. Some hidden walls exist, but they are difficult to spot because they resemble the rest of the environment. The only reason to search is a gem that awards you with an achievement. There’s one hidden in some of the world, but searching for them is a major chore. They're simple to overlook because you can't go back and have no idea in which screen they’re hidden. Enemies include classics such as slimes, bats, witches and others. They’re annoying but don’t represent a major threat. The biggest challenge comes from platforming, which is dangerously close to being very precise-based. They’re not exactly difficult or broken, except for platforms that move up and down, but you need to go through several challenges them before reaching the next save point. The dash and double-jump you learn later makes things a lot easier. When you pass by a fountain, the game is immediately saved. While enemies respawning isn't a major issue, puzzles that reset after death might be aggravating. This usually consists of switches that open a door, but you must press them each time you die. Killing enemies and shattering wooden barrels will get you one of three rewards. Because it is random, each of the three has an equal probability of dropping. There's health, magic potion to refill magic attack, and cash to spend at the cyclops blacksmith. He appears regularly on your quest. Aside from the standard sword damage and health, you can also buy a magnet that captures coins for you or a deflect to bounce projectiles back at enemies. Rare bugs are aggravating. Dash behaves strangely when you enter a tight spot, but it's manageable. One especially grave problem occurs during the second boss fight. When defeated, bosses drop an item that must be collected in order to complete a stage. But this one launches it out of the playing screen. This forces you to retry the boss fight until you get lucky and the item gets thrown at the right angle.
This is an all around solid platformer. :) Developer is responsive. :)
Dont even dare to buy that game... +Good Retromusic +Nice drawn -There is only 1 musictrack playing like forever and that is very very annoying -predictable enemies -sometimes hard jumplevels to compensate the weak enemies -overall very monotone -Too expensive for what u get I dont understand the 4 good reviews, maybe friends of the developers....
Such a Rad Platformer. Epic sword bouncing fun!
It’s like Mario with a Mega man spice. Fair level of difficulty which require perseverance. Awesome mechanics with the sword. Found some hidden rooms as well. Solid platformer.
Love it, love it, love it. This game is the physical manifestation of the word FUN. What you doing still reading reviews? go and get it! XD
