Disclaimer: A copy of this game was provided by the developer. Simple Machines starts as a casual physics puzzle game, quickly becoming challenging, that relies on quick thinking, fast reactions, proper timing and tracking multiple balls at the same time in the later levels. The level progression is good with new mechanics and interesting level designs being introduced. Don't hope to complete every level on your first try because some of the levels start already in motion and several levels can be completed in different ways. The graphics are minimalistic and they give great visual clarity making it clear how the events will roll out and how you have to react to them, but you can use the trial and error method as well. There is relaxing music to help with the frustrating nature of the game. The only negative point I could see about the game would be the big difficulty spike in the last 10 levels which will give you a challenge compared to the previous levels. But that can also be a positive point if you chase challenges. Gadget update: Additional 30 challenging levels were added to the game in this free update. The new gadgets add variety and require precise timing. It took me longer to solve the new 30 levels compared to the previous 80. Dark mode has been added as well. For achievement hunters: Simply complete all 110 levels which I made a video walkthrough for. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2101773686

[th]Follow my curator for more great game recommendations![/th]

Simple Machines is a part puzzle, part quick reaction game where your job is to guide one or more balls through increasingly more complex 2D mazes. Levels start pretty easy, rotate a platform up or down by clicking on it to allow the ball to fall but new ways to change the trajectory of the ball are introduced often. Jump the balls, carry them on moving platforms, open and shut platforms, switches, speed boosts, rotating elements that can catch the ball and more. Later levels also include grey objects and balls that instantly kill your balls should they come into contact with them. Like a lot of the $1 minimalist puzzle games, it’s 4/5ths tutorial and 1/5th of the best challenging levels. I do wish some games would include more of these challenging levels as they are really quite good and a few of them demand very precise timing and when you get it right there is a definite feeling of accomplishment. The sound and visuals are great across all 80 levels and for the price asked the 2 hours or so are well spent, it just needs some more complex levels as that’s where the game really shines.
Divertido e frustrante
A neat, minimalistic physics puzzle game offers both brain-teasers and (mostly) fair timing puzzles
Disclaimer: Pre-release copy received free from the developer through Curator Connect. In the wake of minimalistic puzzle games such as Hook and Zenge comes Simple Machines, a physics variant within the genre. Base idea in Simple Machines is to get the colored balls (1-3 per level) into their respectable goals by operating the namesakes of the game. All control is through mouse clicks on hotspots.
Gameplay: The machines
The machines have very specific functions: some just tilt one way, others move or split, yet some can bounce or speed the balls up. Some levels have intermediate goals of picking keys to open ways, or you can operate the locks yourself. At its simplest, you just use each machine once and physics handles the rest, with virtually no chance of failure. Neato! At its most complex, there's a puzzle to solve and you have to time it right too. Between moving platforms, operating keys and managing the kill zones or the black balls of death, the timing puzzles become almost unfair. Through sweat, practice, and patience, you will prevail. Though, the timing puzzles fresh in mind, I still would have preferred a keyboard shortcut for operating the locks. Speedy mouse precision should not be a requisite in a physics puzzle, in my opinion.
Minimalistic to the core
The only options are the ability to restart a level or go to level selection, and the music mute button. Music is pleasant and chill. Frankly, I think that's enough. Only additional feature I can think that someone might like is a night mode. My playthrough was essentially bug-free.
Puzzle candy
I completed the 80 levels and thus the game (including 8 achievements for level completions) in just below 2 hours. I think it was just the right length. There is also sequel-potential in adding more machines.
Recommended for fans of casual puzzle games.
~Twistorian Curator~
A little puzzle games with marble contraption's 68/100
kox gierka ;D
Handsome developer!!!
simples, porém divertido
