First Review! As a VJ ( video projetion artists ) who now has a VR system, I seem to be one of the intended users. ( The others could be programmers and educators. Young children would not get it, due to text. ) After trying for a little while, I can see I will be able to interstingly use it for these purposes. Not a game, it's a "creativity app". Easier to watch some demos on youtube than have me explain it. It has elements of a "sandbox game", a basic 3D modeling and animation app, and could be used for music. After you design your experience, you can export it as a contained app! That's impressive. Don't expect instant gratification here, you will want to work through the ( kinda slow ) built in tutorials, and see tutorials on YT. As it is early access, you will see a lot of potential for where you hope things will go. The $20 is an investment in that future at this point, more creativity apps are needed rather than VR gun games. You can use the app with VR or without, which is a good thing. It runs fullscreen, I'd like the option to use it windowed. ( This will be especially important to VJ's running multiple apps at once. You can Syphon it! ) In general, I'd prefer a bit more standard UI for all of it, more like the 3D modelers we've used. You can import objects from those, which you'd want to do for complicated shapes. I'm slightly reminded of Bryce, an old school 3D app designed for artists. That didn't allow for "live art" usage, but Simmetri does, things are going to get interesting! more thoughts TBA...

I'm a professor in the creative writing program of a large public university. I've long been on the hunt for a tool that would allow me and my students--almost none of us STEM types or coders--to make narrative art in VR (and in 2D). Simmetri is that tool. It neatly and intuitively bridges the gap between the desire of a non-technical person to tell a story in VR and the fulfillment of that desire. I've tried Unity and Unreal Engine, as well as a host of other "game-making" tools (my Steam library is full of them), and all of them buffaloed me almost as soon as I got started. I'm fifteen or so hours in to my use of Simmetri, and already I've produced at least one "VR story" that I'm pleased with and that I can show off to my colleagues and students as a proof-of-concept, to help sell them on the idea of VR as a serious narrative medium. Now that I've got my legs under me, I see no end to the creations that Simmetri will make possible. The devs are attentive and responsive. The tool is growing more fully-featured and user-friendly with every iteration. The Early Access price is a steal. If you're a non-programmer who's interested in telling stories or exploring the new medium of VR, Simmetri is the tool you've been looking for.
What can i say. At first it seemed like a powerful tool to create. Then you realize that what is currently avalible is hard to understand at best. I got frustrated with it right away. If you want to create somthing amazing just use Unity because this feels like the wrong direction. I remember when I bought my first synth and i bought it for all the wrong reasons. Only because I did not yet know what the reasons were. Well I think this is one of those situations. Think about what you need this for before you buy it. I speak from experience because now I own 20 bucks worth of wasted hard drive space. I would prefer a refund but since they denied me this is my only recourse. Even though I have very little time in the game they told me that I owned it for to long. So my friends think before you buy. Possibly this is not the creative tool to reach the goals you have. Good luck
Simmetri interactive tutorials are probably the best i've ever walked through! Fun, nicely constructed and well-rounded for quick intro. Hundreds of time i've heard word ''gamification", first time i see somebody have properly implemented it in software learning curve. Just wanted to say big thanks to developers!
Simmetri is a cool application for making sandbox type interactives. The in-app tutorials are funny and easy to follow. I've had good luck bridging this through spout for projection mapping through HeavyM Live as well as messing around with Windows Mixed Reality. Certainly a less steep learning curve than many game engines but also a great tool to learn about basic programming ideas. Strongly recommended, it's a great application for the price.
Simmetri is like Photoshop for VR. See my youtube reviews here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99e7OvA9V9s&t=7s I can quickly come up with ideas, model them in the 3d space, and then jump into VR and experience them. I am a visual artist and a VJ. I'm am using Simmetri for my live shows. I love being able to set up virtual cameras and then export that feed to my VJ software, Resolume, for projecting at events. The software is very well thought out and makes it easy to quickly create anything I can imagine. The ability to not only build objects but change the physics of the VR universe makes this software virtually endless in what can be created. This software is not only great for creating in the virtual space but also for mocking up ideas that are meant for the real world. I can see this software being used in so many different ways from filmmaking and storytelling to physics and math. It's amazingly flexible. Like any piece of software with this amount of capability, it will take some time to master it. Although it does have a lot of easy drag and drop type capabilities, to really get the most out of it will take some time to learn it well. I really enjoy using this software with my multimedia productions.
This is a superb app for anyone who wants to do work using VR or 3D environments without getting distracted by all the intermediate steps of learning something like Unity or C#. It's not meant as a replacement, but I think that for me as an Academic philosopher working on issues related to VR, it's absolutely perfect. It's difficult to list all the virtues of this app, but here are my top three: 1- Intuitive user interface with common sense labels 2- An incredible tutorial system that's quick, funny, and effective. 3- An incredibly large number of options without so much as looking at code. I think this app will be great for academics, but also people who want to start using something more complex like Unity with C#. By isolating the organization fo 3D scenes and events from the code and unintuitive UI, Simmetri allows you to grasp one core component of designing 3D worlds, before jumping into other components. I'm surprised I didn't hear about this before, I think many VR users will want this. Thank you for this super software Simmetri team!
As the lead creative designer at the Public VR Lab, I'm in a constant search for the next VR creation tool. Playing with Simmetri for the first time was a dream come true. The endless possibilities Simmetri offercs, handed to me in such a simple, accessible way, astonished me and sparked my imagination. The ease of handling complicated concepts and ideas is unparalleled in the field. The tutorials were clear and strightforward and enabled me to dive into the app with a smile, having understood the functions and concepts of the app. If you wonder whether you should puchase this or not - stop wondering. This is the real deal. I can't wait to keep experimenting with this app and learn the possibilities and options it offers, which at this moment feel endless. I'm sure this tool will be a major player in the VR industry. It's just too good not to be.
WOW. Simmetri is probably the best money I've ever spent on an app. It's ridiculously affordable for what it does. On top of that, it's VERY well-coded, the interface is very snappy, engine is REALLY fast. It's early access, but it's easily way more intuitive and polished than just about any other 3D or Game-type engine tool I've used. It feels like release-quality already: It's super easy to use, but still really powerful. You can tell the developers really know what they're doing. On top of that, the company is AMAZING at support, they have a Discord channel where they will answer your questions in an enthusiastic way. I'm just really blown away by this tool and the company. It's an amazingly creative app, you can get up to speed VERY quickly and immediately start making super cool, pretty mind-blowing stuff. It is ridiculously fast to start making insanely cool stuff after just a short time learning. The focus here is really on creativity. This is the future, and I'm really, really impressed with the professionalism here. BUY IT, it's amazing.
