I went into this expecting a puzzle horror game. What I got was tedious, slow movement at every turn, and if you didn't go slow enough, you get jumpscared. Not what I'm looking for.
One of my new favorite games. If you wanted a Halloween version of 'I expect you to die', this is it. Great fun, and fast enough that you can play with friends who come over. Only issue is the controls. If they could add the ability to change what controls what, it would be a much better game. I use the Valve index knuckles, and the hand grip as well as the trigger grips things. To use something you need to press the A/B buttons. So your thumb is in an odd position. Would love to have grip be grip, and trigger be Use. Even with adjust the layout in Steam, it still reverts back to their control layout. again, great game
Cool "bomb defusal" type game but you slay sleeping vampires. Takes around 4 hours to complete.
I was really excited for this game but, I ended up requesting a refund because I kept getting a fatal processing error. The only thing I have patched or troubleshot myself is getting a new VR headset (which I am not about to do). This is the only game that I cannot play in my VR library right now. It is frustrating as there hasn't been any announcements regarding this. It is the demo game at Pax that got me into VR. If their is an update or something that allows non-Meta VR sets to play it then maybe I will give it another chance.
Very good. A self-proclaimed Vampire Hunter approves!
For a $10 game I think it's pretty good, I wouldn't pay more though in its current state. Requires a lot of precision, and it needs more support I feel to make it enjoyable. Otherwise you just keep losing and starting all over again. :( I like the little puzzle before each coffin. Simple but still fun. So far I'd say with some of the recommendations I made below I think this could be more then a $10 game. My recommendations. __Rail on the right side for pulling you forward and back. I think it would be nice if it also it had a rail going up and down (I know that might seem odd but for a VR game...). I could see this a different way though. IE I'm right handed, so having the bar on my left to adjust I think would be a great feature, but then there is the coffin door that opens this way. Maybe once you get to a point with the coffin door it disappears? Not sure. __Commentary after dying. I believe can be lowered, I'm still playing/testing. But when you make a mistake because as far as I've seen can only be from you being loud. I don't need someone to tell me you died because you were too loud. (again my two cents). __More graphics. Settings options would be nice. Brightness, graphics options to make it better or worse depending on PC specs. __Death episodes. Seems odd how he has himself/herself all trapped in there and then you make a noise and he jumps out. without any hesitation. Maybe a different type of death occurs. Also if he does kill you maybe doesn't need to be 6" from my face. I get it's scary, but every time...
Silent Slayer was my introduction to VR Horror Games and is now my go to recommendation for anyone looking to start somewhere. The game is a puzzle experience all about slaying vampires. With tons of traps both outside and inside the coffins you’ll have to disarm with the tools available. Before finding the vampire's heart, binding it with magic, and then staking it before it has a chance to bite your neck off. Along for the ride is a talking book who acts as your guide. With lore and explanations within his pages, as well as a lot of things to say about mistakes and how you died. So as long as you don't ignore his words or get impatient you should be able to survive. The game isn’t too difficult as long as you take your time with each step, pay attention to what the book says between coffins, and do not dilly dally. If done well, the game can be beaten in about 2 hours if you don’t fumble too much, 4 or more if aiming for 100% The only thing I feel is currently missing from the game is Voice Immersion. Having to be silent, both in-game and real life would be extremely funny. Though it doesn’t seem like that’s in the cards currently. The puzzles are simple once you get the hang of them, the environments have an air of creepiness and unease throughout them, and the game allows you to replay any chapter and specific segments almost instantly. Plus, you can turn off the spider in the settings.
I am somewhere in the middle of the game, so the tougher part still ahead, but really neat idea and great execution: - nice and diverse tasks to unlock the coffin, - some extra story behind each person - satisfing to... ahem... execute - some spookiness and sometimes more (you won't miss it) - fair gameplay - will last you few hours, depends on how good you are Will update upon completion, but already; Recommend!
It's a very good game, with plenty of effort put into making it good. There were a few minor things that were bugging me but I think they were either issues with my headset or issues with me(if you have shaky hands, this game *will* be more difficult). I completed the game in 3.3 hours, which isn't a lot but I don't have issues with jump scares, so if you do it would probably take you a little bit longer. I honestly think it would've taken me less time if it weren't for my controllers really liking to randomly drift off into space while I'm doing precise things. I do recommend it, but with the short play time I would probably recommend to try to get it while it's on sale(like I did).
