Not fun at all. As others have stated, there is a hard lock on certain stages that require precise placement and upgrades to pass. It's a "Here's the only solution, anything else and you lose" type game that doesn't promote a fun or challenging experience. When you lose, it doesn't offer any kind of roguelite level up of abilities or trade out of tower types or cards. It just makes you try again and again until you puzzle out the correct solution. Garbage game design.
we need chinese.
I was not quite sure what to expect with Siegebreaker, but the game I played certainly was not was I expecting -- and in a very good way. It's really quite amazing to see what Indie games can do with developers who are smart going in, and Siegebreaker most certainly had a great deal of foresight and detail woven into its creation. The game is a standard tower defense on one hand, but on the other it's a sort of free-form puzzle game with a great level of care and thought put into each and every level. While most tower defense games have grids with regions of predefintion, Siegebreaker opts for hand-picked, finite tower placements with only 5 base tower archetypes; at first glance it seems simple, and yet there is actually quite a lot of intelligence and strategy required to put all your tools to use. Some maps I nailed first try, others took quite a few attempts with a certain few "oh come on!" grumbles as I scratched my head figuring out how best to approach the map's peculiarities. At right around 8 hours from start to finish, the hours-per-dollar spent are not too terribly great, but what gameplay you do get is extremely high quality and well worth an on-sale purchase. While I can't say I feel like the replayability of the game is terribly high, the game is a simple campaign with a core progression mechanic that gives you about 75% of all available tools in your toolkit sprinkled out over the full run, so the strategy you employed one run is certainly not guaranteed to show up in the next for each particular challenge. All-in-all, Siegebreaker is an extremely well polished, well-balanced tower defense / puzzle hybrid that has a development scope perfectly matched to the content presented. There is no fluff or pomp, and the mechanics provided have enough depth to be enjoyable while understanding this game is not aiming to be a "play me for 500 hours" sort of title. Siegebreaker is to tower defense what Druidstone is to tactical strategy titles -- a somewhat oddball labor of love with solid aesthetics, a challenging difficulty loop, and a scope of content that presents its unique tweaks on the genre in such a way to maximize enjoyment without dragging on too long. A highly recommended title for tower defense aficionados and beginners alike that's easily completed in a few sittings. Well done!
A very solid tower defense game. Nothing revolutionary here but it has all the advanced features and QoL that has been developed over the years. There is a bit of rng to the progression that some may not like. You can basically get whatever you want by the end but along the way you'll have to rely on the choices given. Be warned that you may feel you need some upgrades by the end, but it can be too late to get them. As far as I'm aware you may have to start completely over to get them. I quite enjoyed it. It didn't hook me in and I couldn't stop playing, but I kept popping back in to clear a few levels. I'm current trying to clear each level on Legendary with perfect scores. Not a ton of hours here. Like most games in the genre, one you beat it at it's hardest level, you are done with it. I highly recommend it if you like these games.
Need some polishing. Progression in this game can lead to dead end if you attempt legendary difficulty.
