This game is fire. I never normally leave reviews on steam but the game play was shockingly innovative so I felt like the developers deserved it. For the price points its easily worth playing, only thing I would love is a full screen mode.
It's fun, I completed it in around 10 hours. I needed to check a guide online to enjoy it. In particular, don't forget to use loans early, keep only customers with 4-5 wealth and unlock weapons tiers.
please add an are you sure prompt to the end day button
I really love the balancing and the little (good) ideas in each branch of this game. To find the right built in every run is challenging and a lot of fun, you have a lot of options how to make money in this game and you have to play what RNG gives you. So you have to react and adapt and can't have an universal tactic, which makes every run unique.
Uglier Potionomics without walrus romance route
This was a super fun little game with lots of potential for growth. As I played it in early access form and can only assume it will be improved and added to from here, it's very much worth the low price tag. Took me around 31 hours to 100% complete, I found it a bit more challenging later on and you can be somewhat at the mercy of RNG, but still everything can be exploited or mitigated with a bit of forethought. I didn't get sick of the gameplay at all, as the different win conditions and unlockable perks change how you attack things further down the line. Had a lot of fun, looking forward to whatever the dev decides to add (if anything, I think it's great as is and perfect for the price).
My only complaint is that it's too easy. I've beaten 7 of the towns and still haven't been challenged much by the game. So add some really difficult towns for those looking to push themselves. Also a choice of the abilities at the game beginning would be nice to give yourself some control over opening ability, but that's a nitpick. Great game so far, I just want to see more added to it, so please do developer.
Have been looking for a game like this for ages, just running the shop, no dungeon crawling, no crafting, just buy, sell, assassinate customers who are too good at haggling or too poor, become addicted to gambling, evade taxes, and pay off your loans. Also contains the single most realistic contract in video game history.
This game was pretty solid. I definitely did not play the game properly though. I realized after winning about two or three cities that if you get the wolf of shop-like then the stock market becomes broken and will never go down. Eventually you can take out a large enough loan to buy out the entire stock market and from there your wealth rapidly increases winning you the game in a a few days time. If it were not for this the game would be incredibly fun, and challenging.
This is a tentative recommendation. For those raised in the era of flash games, I would rate this similarly to a very high quality flash game in terms "game feel". The systems function well enough to make the game enjoyable for a couple of hours and the different cities allow for a roguelite "ascension system". With all this said, the moment to moment gameplay feels somewhat samey and there are certain strategies that feel somewhat degenerate with the amount of money they can generate. Not a bad pick if you really enjoy shopkeep games or are just looking to kill a few hours.
