About
Chess–No noise–Just the board.
Sharp Chess is a clean and focused chess experience built for players who want
to sit down and play. Added, without menus getting in the way, without distractions, and
without compromise. Whether you're a seasoned player looking for a serious
opponent or picking up chess for the first time. Sharp Chess gets out of your
way and lets you think.
A worthy opponent–always ready.
Sharp Chess is powered by Stockfish AI one of the strongest chess engines
in the world. Play solo against the AI or pull up a chair for a local two-player
game. Dial the difficulty up or down to find the level that challenges you —
whether that means a forgiving game for beginners or a brutal and unrelenting
opponent for experienced players. It never gets tiring. It never goes easy on you
unless you request it to.
Play your way!
Sharp Chess comes with two distinct visual identities so the game feels right
wherever you're playing.
Dark mode — the default experience. A near-black navy board with cool blue squares and deep purple accents. Minimal, moody, and easy on the eyes during long sessions.
Light mode — a classic chess aesthetic with a traditional green and brown board paired with a selection of nature-inspired backgrounds. For example, sunlit forests, open skies, and the timeless look of chess the way it has always been played.
Switch between modes any time from the settings menu.
Sharp Chess runs natively on Steam Deck. Take your game to the couch, the commute,
or anywhere else. The interface is clean and readable on the decks screen. The trackpad gives you precise control over every move.

It’s just chess, which is what I wanted. Nice clean board and nothing getting in the way. Not much else to say. Good if you want a clean chess game on Steam.
simple chess without ads or bloatware great for a long flight with a steam deck and saving your battery life. a bygone era of games that are simply what the title implies instead of slapping roguelite game mechanics and dlc on everything
I think Sharp Chess is excellent. I like the graphics and the backgrounds. I recommend purchasing the game because it’s affordable and fun to play! The only downside is that I am not an expert in playing chess so I prefer slower graphics when a player makes a move ! I also wouldn’t mind having a little bit of sound. But overall, this is an excellent game of chess !
