Sephonie does not support square resolutions (Less wide than 16:10). Sephonie will run fine with these resolutions but some UI may be cut off, which you can fix by using the in-game UI Scaling option or by running the game in a 16:9/16:10 windowed resolution. The same goes for UWHD resolutions in fullscreen.
Sephonie only officially and natively supports certain controllers (PS4/5, XB1/XB360). Other controllers may work with Steam Input, but functionality not guaranteed. In particular the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is NOT supported although players have gotten it working. See forum for details.
Sephonie has been tested to work on Linux with Proton, although there may be some lighting errors depending on your OS so we have chosen to not have an officially supported Linux version.

Sephonie is a game that started with an initial reaction of "This seems neat" and ended with a reaction of "I love how much love and care went into this" Got this game on a recommendation from a friend without knowing too much about the story and overall I enjoyed it, albeit a bit confused by the end. There are elements that feel up to interpretation but overall I thought the story had a lot to say about learning about the places and people around you in order to help support the future. But while that was my takeaway I think other people will have their own interpretation of the story. The core gameplay consists of exploring a cave system on the island of Sephonie, your move-set is generally basic, primarily consisting of a sprint, a wall run and a mid-air dash. But the game does enough with this to keep it interesting, even introducing some new mechanics right at the end. There are also some puzzle sections where you have to place blocks to match 3 or more of the same colour in a line which I found fun. The core concept or the puzzles is simple but it introduces some fun curveballs throughout that really make you consider every move. I really enjoyed the collectibles in this game, though I think its unrealistic for a player to find them all until they've beaten the game (Which proves area-specific counters for collectibles so you can find what you've missed) as some of them very specifically expect you to explore places that you might not think are accessible without some clever platforming, which almost feel like a nod to players that thought they got somewhere they weren't expected to be. The collectibles are completely optional but provide nice insights about the playable characters. Notably basically every element of this game has accessibility options to make the gameplay easier if you want it, which I really liked, especially if you just want to explore. For me, what cemented my enjoyment of this game was the post-game, where you unlock an option called "Bubble Adventure" which adds bubbles to the levels which you can touch to gain height and if you land on the ground after it counts as collected. This doubles as a fun way to add shortcuts when searching for the final few collectibles but also as a fun collectible in and of itself. The personally loved the rewards for collecting the bubbles, which unlocked
dev environments from the development process that you can explore
. And with 400 bubbles in the game, only 250 is required for the final reward so there's a lot of leeway to avoid particularly tricky ones. There's an element of this game which I can only describe as raw which I adore, the devs put so much heart and soul into this game and it shows. As a piece of art the music and visuals are phenomenal. The story was gripping and even the elements that I didn't quite understand had me hooked. If you like exploration based platformers, or just like a good story with a lot for interpretation, check this game out.
fun as heck
team tasty fish forever
Emotionally dense and artistic. It's also pretty fun when it works. Could do with some tweaks... but I'm not really here for the most well crafted platforming experience so much as I am the narrative, atmosphere, and presentation... though there's also a nice little puzzle game that you come across throughout the experience. Excellent music too. I won't forget you, Sephonie.
Sephonie has solid platforming and a very well crafted world. It's environments make full use of it's platforming mechanics. The controls will likely seem clunky to a lot of people, but I personally had a lot of fun with it. The Puzzles are okay. I enjoyed them, even though they weren't very difficult at all. It offered a welcome break from the platforming I suppose? The game does a great job at building up your skills and tests you adequately in the final area. The games areas look and sound fantastic. The narrative while interesting, feels overwhelming, especially early into the game. While the way it's framed is certainly unorthodox, once I came to better understand it I was hooked and left feeling very connected to the games protagonists. Although I'm still unsure how to feel about the post-game epilogue. Despite this uncertainty, the game will definitely stick with me for how it immerses you into its world with both its gameplay and narrative.
Another banger by Analgesic Productions. A holistically crafted game of ludonarrative harmony. Very pleasant art and sound design. Great for playing over a few weeks in several short sessions of platforming exploration broken up with breezy but engaging puzzle segments and meditative storytelling.

Unique gameplay that kind of feels like a blend of cinematic platformer with something more traditional. The world and story are exceptional standouts and just being in the world of Sephonie is a delight. Vibes are off the charts, must play for platformer or surreal game fans
Really quite fun, and a good length! I liked the minigame more than the parkour platforming, but both are very solid. The final stretch of platforming is quite tough, but doable with enough patience! Music, visuals, and vibe is perfect. I'd say possibly the most writing in any platformer, so if you are looking for a complex story to unpack alongside running and jumping, grab this one!
