Senna takes place across 3 worlds each with a different theme. The first has you deciphering family trees, the second the order the destructive infection spread and the third working out rune sequences. Usually you talk to a few trees and the like and every 3 correct deductions, or guesses, they get locked in. Colours represent different tree mutations to try and take on the infection each with rules about how they are passed down to later generations. The 3rd world also introduces a twist where some trees are liars. The retro graphics harken back to the early 3D era but are nice a and sharp. Audio is serviceable but limited. Probably the only weakness is at points during the game you will have to guess between 2-3 names/trees as there is not enough information. Some trees will provide information to pick who is who, others give background and some are completely silent. As mentioned above, every time you enter 3 correct answers they are locked in so guessing is limited but I feel like it is a missed opportunity. Senna is well presented deductive logic game with an interesting story about natural destruction and renewal marginally let down by a guessing mechanic.

A logical deduction game that REQUIRES guessing is not a good logical deduction game.

7/10 Logic puzzles assembled into a story. What is it: A puzzle game with an adventure-like presentation. The Story: In a post-apocalyptic world, where most of nature along with almost all humans have been destroyed, you are Senna, one of the few humans, trying to save what's left. You do this by recovering lost knowledge, putting together a "secret" following the clues/memories that the trees (and flowers) still remember. The mechanics: These are different logic puzzles, each tree provides a few statements that you must combine to figure out facts. There are four different chapters with different types of puzzles: The Forest requires that you build a family tree for trees, correctly identifying where each individual fits in the family tree from statements like "my brother is alone on the other side of our father" and "the blue mutation also affects grandchildren"; The Blight requires that you re-assemble a timeline, sorting trees based on statements like "I warned the trees after me, but only X reacted" and "I was warned but was too slow"; Temple of Lies requires figuring out a sequence of symbols based on statements that may be false, (Knights and Knaves puzzles) where blue trees only say the truth, red trees say one lie and some truths, and green trees either say only true or only false statements but you don't know which; and Gathering of Flowers requires that you map flowers to the deities they worship (Venn diagrams) based on statements like "all the flowers in this patch worship a single deity" and "there are only 3 flowers that worship Buhmi". Each chapter is split into stages, from simple to complex, and some of the chapters also have a different kind of puzzle at the end, e.g. ordering the lines in a prayer. I like these types of puzzles, so seeing them in a game with a kind of narrative to tie them together was a nice find. The execution could be better though. You have to be close to a tree to talk or assign it, so having to run from tree to tree wasn't pleasant. And since there is no pathfinding, the Temple of Lies was extra awkward since Senna would have to be carefully guided through the narrow paths. Some guessing was needed, so the game isn't 100% doable just with logic. How hard is it: Easy/Moderate. Pen and paper helps, and having some experience with logic riddles definitely makes the game rather easy. How long is it: 4 chapters, each doable in under an hour, so about 2-4 hours to completion. Level design: Good. Nice diversity of puzzles, but I would have liked if there was no guessing involved. Quality: Decent. Good enough level design, a unique concept, but the execution could have been better with less walking and smarter pathfinding, better tracking of progress (no continue button?), more achievements, and of course, more content. Worth the price: It's free, and a worthwhile experience, so Yes. Most positive aspect for me: The Temple of Lies Knights and Knaves puzzles. Most negative aspect for me: All the walking needed to go from tree to tree, by the time I got to the next tree I half-forgot what the other one said. It's hard to leave a negative review for a cute, free game such as this, but I feel that it ultimately misses the point of a deduction game when it repeatedly fails to provide information with which to distinguish multiple candidates, forcing the player to make baseless guesses and shuffle names around until it accepts the input. I found this a very frustrating experience, and can't recommend it.
Charming logic puzzle with a forest theme. I found the level of challenge pretty good. It might be too easy for someone with a strong logic background but for everyone else there should be several hours of gaming. One thing that could be improved is the interface. It gets tedious to have to walk back to tress to re-hear their comments, when it would be easier to be able to click on them. Overall really good game, and different from most others. The character development of the trees makes it interesting, and the story adds a feeling of reward.
Despite being marketed as a logic game, there are puzzles for which you have no option but to guess.
The only real downside of the game is that at times, you have to shuffle names around because not enough info is given. Otherwise, it has a good story, and the puzzles change, so it doesn't get stale. Also, going to the trees/flowers/so on to talk to them is understandable, but having to go to them to assign names/colors/so on feels unneeded.
