Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/u7e1-gcn7dA This is one of the best endless runners I have played in VR. It also has several big negatives. So let's talk about that first. The biggest negative is obviously that the game does want you to sign up for a 3rd party website for a Playalley account. The good news, however, is that you don't have to. You can still play the full game and get the resources available for this game, without ever signing up with an account. The account is only for being able to use resources for other games as well, which you can totally ignore and it will not effect this game. The game also has other big negatives though. The controls are pretty bad by default and I didn't see a way to change them (I did not see the settings, maybe I missed it). You use your grips to go up or down. You use your left joystick to rotate on an axis. You use your right joystick to strafe left or right. You can also fire missiles, shoot unlimited ammo, or use resources to manipulate time. Lastly, the UI is freaking awful in this game. You have to walk away from the main board, which is not obvious, to go to the nodes to be able to play the game. I was too big by default and walking around felt awkward. You can re-center by pressing both grips once in the spaceship. The actual gameplay loop is very fun. You have six different nodes with different challenges. The visuals are trippy. The game is challenging. The obstacle course can be difficult to see, but they are very creative. The game can feel slow at times but then the speed ramps up and all hell breaks loose and you're just on the edge of your seat trying to skim by a pixel's width. If you enjoy endless runners, this one is among the best once you look past all the issues. absolutely horrendously bad and you are forced to sign up to a website before you can play , this is a prime example of everything that is wrong with vr games. insta uninstalled and awaiting refund.
Sector One is a paid VR space fighter game. It worked on my Index with RTX 2070 super system, looked ok, played bad, sounded ok. Has 22 steam achievements. I just noticed my system is way underpowered to play this game, needing RTX 3050. This game set off my motion sickness pretty quickly when i got going good flying through the beginning trench. Maybe buy, if you have the recommended system specs. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. DO NOT BUY it seems like all the review are fake this game has the worst controls i have ever seen on a vr game. the vehicale is pratically uncontrollable DO NOT BUY
Works on Reverb G2. Sector One is a VR arcade endless runner/arcade space sim with nonsensical control scheme. Any good built-for-VR flight cockpit game uses motion controllers to simulate HOTAS, but this one uses them as just an XBox controller. Which is not the end of the world bu itself, many modded for VR flatscreen games do that, but SO somehow manages to use the worst button layout even for such a basic control scheme and make it almost unplayable. Relatively small nitpick: main menu is horrible. It uses smooth locomotion to reach levels for no reason and tries to convince user to create a 3rd-party account. Also on my system the menu completely glitches out and loops images of itself on the flatscreen, dropping FPS into slideshow territory.
