Seclusa

Was skeptical at first, but found myself enjoying it much more than I thought. I love admiring the animals in their different habitats. Also didn't know that it was a casual idle game aswell, but found myself very calm and relaxed while playing. Really needed that.

I honestly don't think I would recommend this game. It was fun. But there is quite a lot of waiting and I found it a bit boring. I think if you are really into photography, this game will be more suited. For me it was a little too much of the same. I could not find the telescope anywhere and just quit bc of it. I don't think I will play this game anymore.

Maybe the most obvious appeal for Seclusa is if you are into photography. Which I am! It's particularly interesting to me as I am not usually a sandbox game player. I like having objectives or a narrative to follow for when I play games. But in this case, where the focus is one of my real life hobbies, it works! (As well as card collecting haha!) The game itself is gorgeous to look at, even when you aren't taking pictures! So if you're looking for a way to relax or pratice your photography composition, I would highly recommend it! Also, I found the puzzle minigame really satisfying and relaxing to do!

I’m really enjoying this game. It runs beautifully on the Steam Deck, and the peaceful nature setting is exactly my vibe. A perfect cozy escape. Great work by the devs.

This is a beautiful, incredibly engaging and relaxing game, which I highly recommend.

"Seclusa" est un excellent bac à sable photographique qui, dans un environnement chill de l'Afrique de l'Est, permet d'effectuer des photos de bonne facture des différents animaux qui se baladent dans les sept ou huit panoramas qui sont proposés. L'appareil que le jeu nous met entre les mains a le bon goût de ne pas être trop technique (seules trois fonctions peuvent être paramétrées), ce qui le rend intuitif dans son utilisation. Après quelques minutes à prendre ses marques, on est parti pour mitrailler tout ce qui bouge, et même ne bouge pas, tel un touriste japonais faisant escale à Paris (en voilà un un beau cliché - HIN HIN HIN !). Plus on prend des photos, plus on acquiert des points d'expérience et plus on a de points, plus sont débloqués des éléments de tout ordre liés à l'environnement et au gameplay, notamment des effets visuels variés que l'on peut appliquer sur nos animaux capturés. Du coup, "Seclusa" stimule vraiment la créativité. Et si l'on s'applique un minimum - au cas où vous fantasmeriez sur les croûtes floues et lointaines des paparazzi, passez votre chemin -, on peut réaliser des choses vraiment belles, vraiment artistiques. Ou étranges et décalées si, comme moi, vous disposez d'une imagination atypique, autrement dit complètement tordue. Je me suis notamment employé à réaliser une série de clichés nocturnes où, à l'aide des différents outils de modification, j'ai fait ressembler certains animaux à des créatures lovecraftiennes parfaitement flippantes. Le résultat n'est pas mal. Après dix heures de jeu, je ne vois que deux défauts à "Seclusa" : L'impossibilité de redéfinir les touches du clavier (je n'y suis pas arrivé) et, surtout, l'absence flagrante de beaucoup d'animaux de la faune africaine. Mais où sont passés les primates, bon sang ? Et les serpents ? Et les hyènes ? Les vautours ? Les araignées aux grosses pattes velues ? On peut supposer que ces nobles habitants seront ajoutés dans un futur DLC.

As a hobby photographer (wildlife & pets) myself, having this game to turn to when I can't get out or just to relax after my day job is awesome. If you're looking for something low-pressure to relax with, this is the game. The game is chill, cozy, the music is calming as are the ambient sounds. For once I found I'm not playing YouTube or a podcast in the background while gaming. Much care was put into designing the camera settings, the animal models, and the landscapes - even the water looks incredible. Not only that, but the devs are also responsive & helpful to boot, which adds a whole other layer of time and care being put into the game and its community. I'm excited to see what other animals are added in the future, and would be interested if - say - even other regions were added as DLC or something.
