Dark Legends surround the old abandoned Blackwood house, secluded far away in the northern wastelands. For writer Michael Arthate, this cold, solitary atmosphere is fodder for his restless imagination. But Michael soon becomes distracted by the mysteries offered up, as he follows a trail exploring and delving into the secrets of the past.

Neighbours from Hell: On Vacation
I can fix it.

This was an interesting game that I'd recommend if you're into old games and want something relatively quiet and brooding but intriguing. I wouldn't suggest it if you're looking for anything modern at all, or looking for big frights or that sort of thing. This game came highly recommended to me, so I was eager to try it out (thankfully the developer shared a key of this delisted game through their discord). It's primarily a point-and-click walking simulator, but with a lot of items to collect and combine. It's old and you move from one scene to another like early "3D" adventure games (i.e. Myst, etc). It's also pretty slow, I'd say especially if you're not used to these sort of games. However, the music and overall sound was excellent. Really did a great job making it atmospheric and creepy in many places. The plot was fairly interesting though it felt a bit like a dud at the end. The epilogue also felt quite cheap. Interesting to see the same scenery years later with many changes, but overall didn't feel very fulfilling with what it added, and the included gameplay in this part felt out-of-place. I'm not sure I would've figured all the right things to click on and combine, etc if I didn't look up a walkthrough about several hours into the game and getting stuck and having no idea what to do to move the game forward. It turns out that there are some things to click on that don't really highlight correctly (with the change in cursor) on modern displays. There are a number of instances where clicking "forward" will take you someone non-obvious, and where the hand or magnifying glass does *not* pop up where it should, but somewhere a ways off (or sometimes even in the opposite direction). So that makes some of the gameplay mechanics less obvious, but still, not impossible. Ultimately, I do feel a bit mixed about it, but right up until the end I was really enjoying it quite a bit. As I said, the sound/music really make the game's ambiance pop out in a very satisfying way. So, if the ending were a bit more satisfying I'd probably give this a stronger approval, but even without that, I think anyone into old-school gaming could still really enjoy this. But if you're like me and not particularly good at figuring out everything to click on (and when to bring something out of your inventory), then definitely don't feel bad about consulting a walkthrough - it really helps!
This is a beautiful and classic point and click game. I get the itch to replay every few years, usually around Halloween, and I love it every time. Haunting sound design, amazing pre-rendered backgrounds, and engaging story. Super fun if you're a fan of old school point and click puzzle games.
Such an awesome game, I'm glad to finally be able to add it to my steam library, get it anyway you can folks
Scratches is the Victorian mansion version of Gone Home: explore an empty house, rummage through the previous owner's things, slowly unlock access to more rooms of the house, and eventually unravel a mystery that is only slightly more interesting than the one in Gone Home. I know this game was removed from Steam years ago, and I have heard that it is quite difficult to obtain a key for it now (I bought my copy years ago and only just now got around to playing it). I am posting this review to say that the game is not quite as good as its fans make it out to be, and it is probably not worth the trouble to track down a key for it unless my summary description ("Victorian mansion version of Gone Home") sounds really interesting to you. By the way, if you happen to like this game, see if you can find a copy of a 1981 horror movie called "Hell Night" starring Linda Blair. That movie tells basically the same story as this game, but the movie was better.
I'm uncomfortable.
Played this game maybe 15 years ago. I think it was the first steam game i played on my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ little laptop back in the day. The game is a point and click masterpiece. A shame it got popular after the game got desisted. Support the developer and buy Asylum if you were forced to pirate this.
one of the best lovecraftian adventure horror games
