it's free, looks good, only issue is the complete lack of any players

Scary Buddies is a free to play VR game that is sort of like Trouble in Terrorist Town. It worked on my HTC Vive, Meta Quest 3 via Steam Link and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. You can start a round by yourself to check out the map, find clues and practice the weapons. CONS: - Nobody is buying and playing this game, needs many players to play. Try this game, you might like it, if more people plays it.
other games do what this game does better, it crashed multiple times when trying to open, refused to close properly (had to task manager it) and messed up other VR games that worked perfectly before playing this game. This isn't meant to be a good review Just players be aware that this is not worth the trouble

The game does not show you othere players in the lobby which is sad cause it does look like a cool game hope it gets fixed
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There are no available servers and no player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
This was a multiplayer VR social deduction game (read: Werewolf/Mafia/Town of Salem etc) set within an asset flipped mansion. Players take on roles, with some secretly designated as killers. Gameplay involves searching for items or clues, attempting to identify the killers, or, as a killer, eliminating the other players before being caught. It died so hard, from the asset flipped backgrounds to the laughable quality junior high school tier character models, gamers avoided this AmongUs ripoff like the plague. So, Scary Buddies is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the . They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 8 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
