About
We're still waiting for Valve to officially verify Scarlet Deer Inn, but we designed the game to work well on it.
ABOUT
Scarlet Deer Inn is an embroidered dark medieval folk tale. While life in a seemingly ordinary village is all about simple chores and idle gossip, sinister secrets hide below.

Beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and traditional animations crafted from physically embroidered frames.
A world filled with colourful characters.
Hidden shortcuts in the dark that make each playthrough easier.
Folk music inspired by the Middle Ages and performed on traditional instruments.
THE STORY
Elise is a mother of two. She is not exactly extraordinary, and there are no heroic epics written about her.
Her circumstances will force her to explore unusual places and face dark, terrifying situations.
THE TEAM
Attu Games is a husband-and-wife team from the Czech Republic. During the development of Scarlet Deer Inn, their duo expanded into a trio with the birth of their baby, bringing a whole new level of chaos to the process.

Reviews
it's like listening to a folk tale. big fan of the handcrafted animations, which is mainly the reason i think you should also support this. we need to support cool, creative, artstyles.
The art is charming. It is clear that this game is a labor of love. It is unfortunate that the game just isn't good. The story is fine. It's simple but there's nothing wrong with that. The problem is the execution. Jumping around in dark caves lighting torches has nothing to do with the story. The environment is so ridiculously big and also fragile that it couldn't possibly exist, and there's no kind of environmental storytelling present in the nondescript, nearly identical caves. The closest thing (the drawn geese) doesn't make any sense either - how did she have time to draw those? Why wasn't she tied up? Why did they take the exact same path Elise ends up taking? In addition to the main story there's a side story involving the castle's new bride and her mother. I suspect this is based off a fairy tale. This was a fine diversion, and I wish there were more such inclusions instead of a lot of the cave diving. It's annoying there's only one because it was an interesting addition (or maybe two if the bear-cave thing counts, but I doubt that's any kind of folklore). There are weird creatures living in the cave, but no explanation or name is ever given for them. Most of the gameplay is running around in a cave carrying a torch that quickly runs out of fuel until you "recharge" it at a sconce. Progress is made by lighting new sconces. Maybe there's a way to make this interesting, but this isn't it. It gets very annoying because you have to frequently pause at lit sconces. This could just be automatic - if you have a lit torch and pass a burning sconce, it immediately recharges. There goes a ton of tedium. It's unrealistic but it's not like that's how torches work in the first place.

One sentence review: Scarlet Deer Inn should be viewed as more of an interactive short horror film than a game, and as long as you know that’s what you’re in for, it’s good. I wish I could give a fully positive review of this game, because it has so much to love. The art overall is great, from the unique embroidered visuals to the music. The story is creepy but fun and pulls you in very quickly. Unfortunately, the gameplay itself is really lacking. There’s a lot of fairly tedious running back and forth between the few places to explore, and the game doesn’t challenge you much. Also, the game is quite short. I’m pretty on the fence, but ultimately I recommend it for the artistry and story, despite the fairly significant shortcomings.
Velmi zajímavý originální formát, vyšívaná hra mě opravdu bavila. Cením zápletku. Chytrá, složitá, zábavná, s českou kulturní stopou. , A co si budem - soundtrack od Sukuby? On my Spotify this week ❤️ Moc doporučuji a tajně doufám ve Scarlet Deer Inn 2!
Nice aesthetic. The music is nice and the mistery hooks you up. A little short, but fun experience

I really enjoyed this game! It gives me the same vibe as Pentiment, but with a focus on platforming rather than dialogue options. The visuals and music are beautiful. The only part I'm a -little- disappointed about is that the ending feels a little abrupt, but I know it takes a lot of time (and money, or time not making money) to create a game. It's by no means a deal breaker; I recommend this one for sure! (Also, Elise, the protagonist, is the coolest.)
Definitely a labor of love, but the narrative is mid and ends abruptly. Thumbs up for the art, music, and chase sequences
Příjemná hra na klidný večer.
