Saturday Night Racing

A sad, pathetic attempt to cash in on the golden era NASCAR games (evidenced by the HUD being a straight up copy of the one in NASCAR Thunder 2004). Generic Unity physics and barebones AI pathfinding turn races into snoozefests where the other cars are more likely to spin you out than race you properly (and because of there being no cautions, you cannot recover). No content, broken menu controls, clearly store-bought assets (even disclosed in the credits), and horrible audio balancing are the cherries on top of this awful piece of asset flipped shovelware. As an aside, the game contains AI-generated spotter audio that is not disclosed on the Steam page, in clear violation of TOS. Even for the sale price of 76 cents, this is NOT worth your time or money. Go find an actual old NASCAR game that doesn't suck - you probably can find one quite easily for the same price as this piece of trash.

So, I grew up playing Need For Speed back in the early 00's and when I saw this I was SUPER excited cause it reminded me of it! I'll give a totally honest opinion: PROS: Not a big Dev (so, easy to tell them about any ways to make their game better and they'll actually execute) Graphics are pretty good Realistic cause/effects Kills time Cool creative take on the early 00's aesthetic CONS: It says this game does not support controllers BUT it actually does! It just doesn't support controllers in the MENUS... (maybe, they can fix it?) If you're not advanced at racing games it's very difficult to pass the AI cars without being ran over if you run into them on their noses; so fair warning! If you're not advanced at racing games then you should deff put it on Rookie & low sensitivity for steering cause... * I ACTUALLY LIKE THIS GAME TBH; not trying to be Negative Nancy *shrugs*

At first glance this game caught my eye and looked really cool. It reminded me of an old arcade machine that I remember playing as a kid. Sadly the game is filled with glitches and problems that clearly shows the ignorance and inexperience of this game developer. The first thing I did was adjust the settings and checked the controller options. It was nice to see a large list of driving settings that could be adjusted but this is where things started off with some problems. I wanted to drive with a manual transmission and as soon as I got into the race, it became impossible to drive because the developer apparently forgot that they configured the camera zoom and shift buttons to the same button on the controller. Every time I wanted to shift up or down the camera wanted to zoom in or out. The fact that this was not tested is confounding. I decided to switch back to automatic transmission and try another race. Things went alright this time but as soon as the race ended I paused the game and then suddenly the results screen was covered by the car gauges and the rest of the interface. I had to force close the game through the windows task manager because the interface covered the button to exit the race. The game is 10 bucks and these are basic things that any racing game should not have issues with. On top of that the spotter over the radio is impossible to hear during the race because the engine sound is so loud. Speaking of which, the engines sound like my landscapers trying to start the lawn mower in the backyard and dont even sound like race cars. The car spotter is pretty much unintelligible and inaudible. Lets talk about the games graphics. The cars look really good but the tracks are outdated and look like they came out of a mobile game. The shocking discrepancy in quality likely means that the developer purchased assets and mashed them together to put together an incomplete game.A quick search of the game engine's online marketplace confirms the bad news. The developer has apparently used cheap asset packs to design large portions of this racing game. That was the final dagger to eliminate any remaining nostalgia I felt when seeing this game on the store. The store page claims that this game will bring you back to the golden age of racing but instead it brings you back to the stone age of trying to overcome annoying glitches and bugs. I think the overall intention of this developer was good but the final product is something that you likely would find in an entry level programming class. Due to my experience with this game, I cannot in good faith recommend this game for ten bucks.

Wow, this is a blast from the past! My 8 year old son and I have so much fun taking turns on this game. The recent updates have made it easier, which wasnt really necessary, but my son loves winning. Overall, a very fun and unique retro game. It takes me back to the early 2000s which was really cool to re live with my son. The cars look amazing, the tracks are really fun, and the game is honestly just great to turn on and kill time playing. If you are a fan of stock car racing, racing in general, or any 2000s retro kind of game - I would recommend. Hopefully the updates don't keep making the game easier!

Fun arcade racing game for casual NASCAR style racing on ovals. The AI can be lethal but it has good enough realism as a fun arcade game. It's great to casually drive laps and try to improve your lap times. Whilst it's certainly entertaining, new content and modes would improve it as well as better AI. It does have potential and it's fun already. Recommended.

i felt the need to comment because the game had so few reviews. the game's visuals and retro vibe made me curious about the game. probably because there were so few reviews, i thought it was a game with bugs, where the buttons on the menu didn't work or would give an error after 5 minutes, and i bought it with the mindset of returning it. but the game isn't really boring and you want to finish the race. it's also not an easy game. you have to drive carefully. it penalizes crashing into other cars. i think if the game had a marketing budget it could have attracted attention. although i don't believe it will be improved in the current state, i would like to see some new features for the game. one of them is damage to cars (probably something that takes time to do) and more features added to the game. Like 30 years ago in racing games, at least change the features of the cars. right now the game has no additional features other than racing.

The "AI" tries to turn the player around at any corner when the player dares to use the inside line to mask how slow the AI is If I want to do wrecking racing then I'm going to play Destruction Derby, Flatout, or Wreckfest which do it a billion times better. Also the "races" are a glorified hotlap competition as soon as you overtaken the 11 opponents until you lap them because they are so slow.

although this title doesnt in any way come close to the greatness of the Nascar Racing series of old or the old EA Sports Nascar titles, and it is somewhat fictional in cars and tracks, it still can provide a bit of fun and challenge. I whilst it can take a few laps to properly overtake an opponent, i would thought just like to see the AI do a little more overtaking of their own,

First of all I'll say this game has potential to be a decent racing game. But the hardest part of the game is getting use to the controls since it is not controller compatible. I literally got all 14 achievements in 30 minutes.... That was uneventful.... The AI when packed together on the tighter tracks sound like a swarm of bees and when you figure out the oath they use you can easily move around them because the AI follows an exact path and does not move for you like normal racing games. The tracks are off brand Nascar tracks like Martinsville, Bristol, Slinger, and one that is like a mix of North Wilkesboro and Charlotte. Do not pay full price for this game. Graphics wise for what it is it isnt the worst. The leaderboard for this game is insane.
