As much as I like what this game is doing, even factoring it's price it's pretty disappointing. Game booted up in not my native language and the menus themselves are weird and difficult to move through. Controller support seems to be half-way implemented at best. The Bridge level only loaded a specific part of the bridge/road itself and then my car began to fall into water over and over again as the game attempted to put me back on a road that wasn't there. I won't refund it because it's so cheap but I've played a lot of better games even at this price. If you want to pay money to listen to some rad music while dodging other cars I won't stop you, but I can't recommend it in good conscious either.

Retrozen, developed and published by VitaminsizDev, is a compact yet stylish indie driving experience that channels the vibrant aesthetics and carefree spirit of the 1980s arcade era. From the first moment you launch it, the game makes its intentions clear—it is not about realism or competition but about capturing a mood. Neon-lit highways stretch into the horizon, angular supercars hum beneath glowing skies, and synthwave melodies pulse through every frame. It’s a game built for players who want to relax and soak in the nostalgic energy of an era defined by speed, color, and music rather than precision and complexity. Despite its modest scope and budget, Retrozen succeeds in crafting a cohesive and charming world that celebrates the joy of motion and the power of aesthetic immersion. At its core, Retrozen offers a simple yet satisfying gameplay loop. You select from a roster of retro-inspired cars, customize their colors and designs, and hit the road across various stylized maps. The focus is less on mastering intricate handling systems and more on enjoying the flow of driving—accelerating down endless stretches of glowing pavement, weaving between faint traces of traffic, and letting the synth beats drive your rhythm. The cars respond smoothly, offering a balance between arcade looseness and a faint touch of realism that gives the player a sense of weight and speed. Each track feels like a new dreamscape: sometimes you’re cruising through vaporwave cities bathed in pink and purple hues, other times through surreal deserts and cosmic roads that look as though they were drawn straight from an ‘80s music video. The absence of strict rules or timers adds to the sense of freedom, inviting you to drift through space and time at your own pace. The presentation is where Retrozen truly shines. The game’s visual design is a love letter to the aesthetics of synthwave culture—clean lines, electric blues, chromatic reflections, and a constant glow of artificial light. Every detail feels intentionally exaggerated to evoke nostalgia without slipping into parody. The retro-futuristic cityscapes, complete with glowing skylines and geometric mountains, create a hypnotic atmosphere that pairs perfectly with the soundtrack. The music, composed of synth-heavy tracks and pulsing electronic rhythms, is central to the game’s identity. Each beat complements the movement of the car, turning a simple drive into an audiovisual dance. The sound effects are understated yet effective, with engine roars and tire screeches blending harmoniously into the electronic backdrop. Together, the visuals and audio form a cohesive whole that makes the experience feel like a playable music video—a world designed for relaxation and escapism rather than adrenaline. As an indie project, Retrozen operates within clear technical and structural limitations, but its developer uses those constraints to maintain focus. The game doesn’t aim for sprawling open worlds or complex simulation systems. Instead, it delivers a tight and consistent experience where everything—from the handling to the lighting—is crafted to reinforce its retro atmosphere. Players will find progression through unlocking new vehicles, tweaking visual options, and earning achievements, but the overall structure remains casual and minimalist. There are no grand narratives, rival drivers, or competitive leaderboards to distract from the pure act of driving. For some players, this simplicity may feel refreshing, a reminder of a time when games could thrive on vibe alone. For others, particularly those looking for deep mechanics or long-term replayability, the lightweight content may feel limiting after a few hours. Retrozen’s biggest strength lies in its authenticity of vision. It knows exactly what it wants to be—a relaxed, nostalgic driving experience—and it delivers that with confidence. The physics engine, while basic, is stable and smooth, and the visual effects are consistently engaging. The color palette evokes emotion, and the pacing allows players to lose themselves in the rhythm of motion. The lack of heavy competition or mechanical challenge might deter some, but for players who want to unwind and enjoy the sensation of speed without stress, it’s a near-perfect match. It stands out in an industry crowded with hyper-realistic racers by embracing minimalism and atmosphere instead of technological spectacle. Ultimately, Retrozen succeeds not because it overwhelms the player with features, but because it offers a distilled experience—simple, stylish, and unpretentious. It is a digital postcard from a bygone era of arcade racing, where the joy of driving was as much about attitude as it was about performance. The game’s short play sessions, rhythmic presentation, and nostalgic flair make it ideal for players who appreciate games that evoke a feeling rather than chase realism. It’s a love letter to retro aesthetics and a testament to how mood and music can transform even the simplest mechanics into something memorable. For fans of synthwave, minimalist design, and pure visual escapism, Retrozen is a sleek and satisfying drive through nostalgia’s neon-lit highways. Rating: 8/10
I bought it and I like the concept. Especially the artstyle. Though, no controller support is a bummer. Would love to see it being added.
This ♥♥♥♥ is real nice
Игра очень похожа на retrowave но она не становится от этого плохой
