About

Letitia Reed is an unremarkable woman in many aspects. Meek and mild, she prefers to keep her head down, and fears drawing undue attention to herself. As a governess to the wealthy Mortimer family, Letitia devotes her humdrum days in London to the schooling of her pupil, Clara, to better mould her into the image of an ideal lady.
Lurking beneath Letitia’s placid mannerisms, however, lay desires so intense they begin to unnerve her. As Clara matures, Letitia finds her feelings towards her maturing too – until, in the end, she can no longer bear it.
Driven to distraction by Clara’s sensuous brown eyes and her sweet, seraphic laughter, Letitia soon begins to question her sanity. Fearful that, eventually, something within her might snap, and she will do something she regrets, Letitia is bidden to leave her former place of employment, and to seek out work elsewhere.
Fortunately, Letitia soon discovers, in the pages of The Morning Post, a job offer which will grant her a means to escape her predicament. The Langley family are searching for a governess for their daughter, the unruly Genevieve – and, best of all, the family resides in the isolated Yorkshire moors, which seems as far away from London as it is possible to get.
Upon reading this advertisement, Letitia soon decides to hand in her notice. She will travel to Yorkshire, become Genevieve’s governess, and then – God willing – she will be able to forget about Clara.
Such was Letitia’s plan – but this plan, alas, soon goes horribly awry. Genevieve is not quite so young as Letitia first believed, and is, instead, a grown woman: already eighteen years of age. Genevieve is wilful and impetuous, but impossibly charming, and Letitia soon falls for her.
As time passes, the two women get far closer than a governess and her pupil ought, and then…

I’ve never been so glad to listen to my intuition in my enter life about a game before; 80 minutes in and something told me I’d be wasting my time if I carried on playing this “visual novel,” and I use that term lightly. I refunded it, then went to the reviews to see I had made the right choice. This is not a visual novel. It’s a book with a few pictures because the dev doesn’t have enough of a budget to make it a visual novel, clearly. I don’t mean to be mean spirited but it’s quite a let down…though that can be said for most of this product which is much more mean spirited than a negative review like mine, for reasons I can’t go too deep into without spoiling the story. If I wanted a book with a picture to look at every 100 pages, I would’ve just picked up a book. The art is beautiful, no doubt about that, which makes me wish even more that this was a proper visual novel by its definition. I won’t include spoilers in my review but do listen to the reviews that contain spoilers, even if you don’t read the spoiler text. Save yourself the time and disappointment like I did.
Well... This was a shocking little twist of an ending. Good girl tricked by the bad girls to do a heinous crime and hang for it... How fun. Kinetic novel. Decent. Might want to get on discount.
The House in Fata Morgana.
This story is very sad but it is very well written. I was hooked the entire time. 10/10
No Responsibility Review,

Back when I was younger, I wasn’t particularly pretty, nor was very confident. I was plain and stiff. Relationships never crossed my mind and the little time I thought about it, it was only with defeatism. When this girl came to my life she made me think I could be loved, adored and enjoyed, I thought maybe that I weren’t so plain after all. It was my first relation, I was not really brazen, but I wanted to do things right, I ended being a laughingstock, misery skidded from my eyes forlorn and puffy. I think it’s around this time I grew myself farther from the others, this girl tensed every of my interaction and to this day I’m scared of trusting others. People laughed it off, calling it a kid's mistake, but is it ? I feel like I’m still the plain old spinster that I was back in the ages. And I think I would still surrender my heart that easily to a pretty girl who does everything to gain it, because why would they do themselves the trouble of seducing me ? I’m worth no penny, I’ve got heaps and heaps of flaws, I just can’t see why a girl would want to play me. So it hurt even more to think that I was played. I felt Letitia, it brought me bad memories up, but unlike me, she won’t get these hackneyed phrases of :« There are plenty o’fish in the sea» She’ll hang, hanged for being played by a mischievously sly fox. Every inches of my body suffer. I would've done every single one of her choices.
Warning this is not a game or VN, its a story with pictures. No choices. Its a gotic love story with a surprising twist at the end. And despite what other reviews say, the twist is properly forshadowed, as long as you know what the term "Salome" refers to. My only critic towards the ending is that it invalidates the entire story before. Why listen to 10 hours of inner monolouge of the main character if it becomes ponitless at the end? It just comes to late, ther should have been a bit more after the twist, instead of just a reveal and then over. You need a long breath for this story, but it is still a good one.
I don't usually go for dark stories, but the characters, writing, and art pulled me in quite quickly and kept my interest. I haven't gone through many of ebi-hime's VNs yet, but I did enjoy the few I have. Sometimes I think of myself a bit silly when I 'play' a kinetic (linear) visual novel without any choices; it's more akin to reading an actual novel or watching a show than playing a game, and I relatively rarely read books or watch shows. But I'm glad Salome's Kiss didn't have any choices. The story is powerful as it is, and it would've been weaker if you could make choices that resulted in a different outcome...
