TL:DR The game is charming and it's gameplay easy to understand. It shares insightful Catholic and Congolese stories that sometimes need deeper thinking of their meaning. Despite its hiccups the game is solid, and it shows the love and care that the Developer put into it. I recommend accompanying younger players, as it can get challenging at times (both gameplay and philosophically wise) As a Catholic: -I really liked the inclusion of a wide variety of saints, there were several that I didn't recognize and it was interesting to read about them. -The inclusion of traditional fables and stories about the faith is really good (albeit sometimes confusing) but it gives me food for thought when I do my Bible and cathecism studies. -The Prioress interactions were my favourite, doing my prayers and reflecting on the saints lives was inspiring. As a gamer: -The story is pretty straightforward and I liked how each person had their own tale to tell. -I am not a fan of 'rouge like' games, but Sainthood gameplay was easy to understand. -The artwork is charming, and the music is adequate, I only wish the night-time music had more than 1 track, or that it stopped when going inside buildings so we also had relaxing nights. -There are 3 (imo) major bugs, ones is that the church does not change visually on the 1st upgrade, other one is that the 'completed task' SFX sometimes gets too loud, and that the Charity Points "+1" text gets cut by the screen when they're awarded. Notes: -The nun saying "hi" when clicking her is a great detail, props to the VA! -Maybe it's because I played "Frostpunk" recently, but everytime night falls, I hear the 'siren' SFX. -A pet peeve: I wish the transition from night>day din't use a white screen, it feels like a flash and it can strain the eyes. -Moving the camera when zooming out, to better identify each building/admire the scenery would also be nice.
The Saint cards are pretty neat and a very nice touch
I have played this game for 86 minutes and it has been a cozy 86 minutes. You might think that this game is an easy nice little game but no, however hard I tried Sr. (Insert Name Here) was not happy with herself. Easier to beat Elden Ring than to perfectly beat this game and to be fair I haven't beaten Elden Ring so I wouldn't know. Have a good day.
A cozy gem of a game with a relaxing, but still challenging, time and resource management system; lovely music and visuals; and lots of interesting history about African culture, Catholic tradition, and saints.
It's not too deep, not too difficult but beautifull nonetheless. What I love most is the vibrant Catholic essence and all the lovely information and hints about its cCaholic but also African heritage. Looking forward to the next releases of the publisher. God Bless.
Beautiful and charming little game. Lots of heart and faith put into it and you can feel it's a labor of love. God bless you.
Great little game. It's a time management game at the core, but its themes, writing, and subject matter are all faithfully drawn from Christian/Catholic domain. The mechanics are simple, straightforward, and make you feel like you have impactful choices. I also appreciated the bits of African history and culture, this made you feel like a character that actually could exist somewhere, instead of just an artistic projection. Also, getting the "bad" ending on my first playthrough tore me a new one, so I'm thinking about how to fix it for next time.
Very chill game, some of the upgrades are somewhat expensive for getting it, you'll have to choose the best provisions to figure out how to maximize benefits. You'll probably have a better second run vs the 1st
Fun little relaxing game. Love the inclusion of facts about the Kongo
Just finished the game for the first time, its fun, the music and graphics are soothing. The writing is amazing. I love the bits of history of the African cultures, I love the descriptions of the saints, and all the summaries of different stories from the bible. Seriously the writing is absolutely amazing. It's also a fun exercise on efficiency and time management
