This game almost feels like a devotional. As someone who is devout, I loved all of the Catholic parts of the game. This game is a love letter to Catholicism and provides a good representation of the religion. However, even if you're not religious, the strategy elements are robust and deeper than they initially appear. Highly, highly recommend.
To be honest, I would've given it a negative review if I didn't appreciate the effort and intent of the creator as much as I do. However, I still want to share my critique so it may be improved or help others understand better what the game is about. I played it for not even half an hour and lost interest, but I see the small price I paid as a donation, which is why I don't want to refund it. My main issue is that this game is built like an arcade game with only one mode, where every step can lead to a better or worse outcome. This design makes the game feel uncozy to me as a perfectionist who wants to enjoy the experience without worrying about the end result. I would really appreciate an open game mode that allows players to progress through the game without a day limit, enabling us to see how the community evolves when it's perfect. Even with such a mode, the challenge could still be to reach the perfect goal quickly instead of having the pressure.
God is good.
Dear Jesus, in the Sacrament of the Altar, be forever thanked and praised. Love, worthy of all celestial and terrestrial love! Who, out of infinite love for me, ungrateful sinner, didst assume our human nature, didst shed Thy most Precious Blood in the cruel scourging, and didst expire on a shameful Cross for our eternal welfare! Now illumined with lively faith, with the outpouring of my whole soul and the fervor of my heart, I humbly beseech Thee, through the infinite merits of Thy painful sufferings, give me strength and courage to destroy every evil passion which sways my heart, to bless Thee by the exact fulfillment of my duties, supremely to hate all sin, and thus to become a Saint. Amen.
You all are awesome. This is such a loving and inspiring game. It actually made me tear up how beautiful it is. Thank you so much and God Bless you
I originally bought this game for my Xbox One X. It couldn't of entered my life at a more perfect time. I left the faith in my teens as most teens do and was about as atheist as they come for much of my adult life. Long story short, God came knocking and I came home in 2024. I found this game over the Christmas season and it touched my heart so much that I knew I had to buy it for PC as well to support the dev. Christian media has a deserved reputation for being low budget, for cutting corners and being corny. This game does not. Addicting gameplay as well as touching story makes Sainthood truly something special.
Loved this game! There aren't enough Catholic games out there! My favorite part was honestly learning about new saints. I also liked the memento mori vibes I got from the "bad" ending when I failed to get enough charity points -- when we look back on our lives, what will we see we have achieved? Please make more games! I will buy them!
This is a beautiful project and great representation of Catholicism in the game world. To be honest, the game-play gets a bit repetitive and it isn't without bugs - but the charm for anyone serious about faith certainly outweighs these shortfalls. I'm happy to support this wonderful project, and hope its success inspires others.
It's difficult to find Catholic video games, let alone great ones like this!
I'm conflicted on this game. The end seems to imply that your faith and prayers mean nothing. In order to make great strides in charity, you must neglect prayer. I did vice versa and got a very negative ending. Faith without works is dead, yes, but works without faith is rowing on an endless sea. I must have missed some mechanic or something as the lack of energy (3-4) that you have just is not enough to reach your daily charity goal since each action requires 1-3 energy and require doing them three to five times before getting charity points. Racking up faith points is easy since it costs no energy but this game just seems to lack a realistic outlook on a world like this. Really, you need to be able to delegate and assign people to different strengths and, as your character seems to be assisting in a convent, it seemed like a missed opportunity to present the beautiful ecosystem of conventual Religious Life. Again, maybe I missed a mechanic to increase max energy. I don't know. Maybe the game is meant to end in failure to make a point about how Christian life ought to be difficult. I'm not sure. As the game is now, I just can't recommend it.
