About

A Note From The Developer:
SAELIG is a solo-developed hobby project that's been worked on since 2017. It doesn't have a fixed endpoint, as it keeps evolving, with updates bringing fixes, tweaks, and new features. So the Early Access tag isn't really about missing content, it's more that I think of SAELIG as a living project. It's always changing, and Early Access is a good way to signal just how much things can shift from one update to the next.
The Game:
SAELIG is a strategy game that blends simulation, RPG elements, trading, and business management, where your goal is to ensure the survival, wealth, and legacy of your family. Set in the Dark Ages of England, you’ll step into the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex during a time of turmoil. Engage in commerce, manage your enterprises, and make crucial decisions to carve your own path and leave a lasting mark on the world for generations to come.
You have the freedom to shape your destiny and play your way—become a trader, a business owner, a hardworking labourer, a landlord, a cunning criminal, a vigilant watchman, an influential abbot, a skilled hunter, or explore other roles. The choice is yours.
SAELIG features a dynamic, living world where every action counts, and each character leads a life of their own. You’re not here to save the world or play the hero—you’re here to live your life, make your choices, and do your best to thrive in a world full of possibilities.

SAELIG offers many possibilities for how you approach the game, giving you the freedom to shape your story in countless ways:
Begin your journey however you choose—from beggar to business owner and everything in between.
Forge your own path, regardless of your starting point.
Find love, start a family, and build a lasting dynasty.
Rise to power as an Abbot running the church, or take charge as a Town-Reeve, placing yourself above the law.
Take on a humble job and earn your keep with honest work.
Become a gravedigger, earning silver by tending to the dead, or care for the village children at the Learning Hall.
Forage for resources and sell your findings at the market.
Hunt wild animals and profit from processing their hides and meat.
Trade goods between markets and seize opportunities for wealth.
Establish towns and build them up alongside the other civilians.
Adopt orphans and send them to work in the mines.
Invest in properties and rent out homes for steady income.
Run a variety of businesses to supply towns with vital goods.
Buy land and develop it, helping the community grow.
Manipulate the economy, start fires, hoard resources, and create chaos if you wish.
Turn to a life of crime, stealing your way to riches.
Fight for survival against brutal Viking raids.
Win the favour of the King and rise to the rank of Thegn.
And so much more—your story is yours to create.
SAELIG has a living world that deepens your experience:
A living, breathing world where every character is striving to survive and thrive.
Every character has a full life, from birth to death, and the ability to influence the world just like you.
Experience multiple generations—when your character dies, continue the story as one of your children.
Dynamic seasons and weather that impact the environment and gameplay.
A variety of buildings to construct, purchase, and upgrade to suit your needs.
Fires and diseases that can devastate not only your home but entire towns and villages.
A living economy where every item is produced and consumed by the population—nothing exists without purpose.
A knowledge system that rewards practice and mastery, allowing you to improve skills through repeated actions.

This is 100% a simulation game just so it's clear what you're getting into. If that's not your thing then you won't enjoy this. Essentially a better, modern, version of The Guild. Very fun, very chill. Good music. Solid gameplay loop.
Amazing game for what it is, made by just one person. Cannot recommend it enough for anyone who played the Guild and liked that.
Sims adjacent for autistic people.

I enjoy this quite a bit and suspect I will play into the future. This game is a bit like the guild but less "janky" in every possible way.
Love the game, new update is some quality of life improvements that make this so much more enjoyable (although it might just be I have a better pc now to). Great job Atorcoppe keep it up.
Fun game, spiritual successor to the Guild 2 and doesn't fail at that. I'll describe two playthroughs of the game I've done so far. I'm a humble worker at a workshop, making bows and such. Sleeping at the local homeless shelter didn't suit me and for a mere 100 Silver a day I don't see much upward mobility; especially with having to buy food. So I start frequenting the fisher docks at night and "Borrowing" some fish there. I eat what I need and sell the rest. Afterwards I visit the mines and wood cutters and sell whatever I "borrow" there. Soon I buy a house, and rent it out. Then another. And another. I quit my job and "borrow" full time! I get enough money to buy the fisher dock, and a corral. I become the Village Reeve and have a kid, a kid who doesn't have to "borrow" anything to get ahead. Next I start off a beggar with no money and no job. I pull out a lute and begin entertaining passerby's of the main gate into town. I'm not making much money but my skill is going up. The next day I'm getting 50 silver on certain citizens. A few days later and I have a lot of money! I buy several houses and collect rent, and eventually turn one house into a butcher. I buy carcasses and butcher them and sell them back, after a while I buy a corral and don't have to buy caracasses anymore it's pure profit! I marry the daughter of an alehouse owner, and when he dies I get his house and alehouse, I turn his house into a leatherworks and start making money on the skins of old carcasses. I buy a tradehouse to sell all my goods for higher profits, instead of selling directly to the market. Then I make tens of thousands in days with foreign trade missions. It's a very fun game that balances life sim and business sim very well. The only thing I wish is that there were more professions. Money Lender would be fun, and I think it would make the economy more available to the peasant classes. Bath House/Barber/Leecher, Cart Wright/Wheeler, A dediated Clothier, Painter/Sculptor, Adult Education, and also an Executioner for High Crimes instead of just sending them to the pit. I think also that separating Craft professions into their own workshops instead of just one workshop for all would be great.
I like this game more than the GUILD series. This is more chilled-out compared to the frenetic pace of THE GUILD and it gives you options to found towns and villages which is very satisfying. The sole dev is very active and will hopefully implement some QOL improvements and expand the game's scope in the future. Already it has come a long way in recent years and I don't think he will fall into the trap of implementing some of the more frustrating features seen in THE GUILD games.
This game needs a faster way to unload and load inventories. For example, if I have a mix of wood and meat, and I go to my butcher shop, I should have a button to auto-unload ONLY the items that the shop uses for their processes! The other issue is the camera map boundary - it doesn't work well in some areas and some does. Honestly, you should just give up a bigger and more generous map boundary for the camera so we can zoom around outside. If the Vikings comes, it's whatever, it's not gonna make much of a difference if our camera can move 12 feet outside of the shore's border. Other aspects are moreso just the limited animation budget. For example, characters in my game doesn't actually pull their cart, their character is static while the cart moved, which is highly unimmersive. This game is pretty close to get that Rimworld flavor, but the market is getting tighter with similar budgeted titles like Norland and Clanfolk, and now with games like Medieval Dynasty and Bellwright releasing as well as some recent Kenshi-esque games, and a few upcoming ones just this year alone, I feel like this project need to step up its presentation a bit more. This is not to mention the upcoming Guild game 1410, which while the demo is limited in, still adds another competitor to the pool. It's teethering between Rimworld and the other latest graphically superior games with better animations, but isn't hitting neither. I do like the worldbuilding instead of a blank slate start and the politics and subterfuge, and it is a big selling point, but I have to get pass the other aspects in 2026.
There are no other games like this one. If you are looking for unique, medieval'ish economy survival this game is that and much more. 10/10 my liege.
Somewhere between a survival game, a market sim, and a town builder - absolutely FANTASTIC!
