Reviews
There are no endings, only new beginnings. UPDATE: the main branch no longer includes the game, you can download a previous depot to play the actual game still not finished though UPDATE2: I am extremely grateful for the experiences I have found in this game

I have borne akashic dripplings as rare gift from the Pale. For those that come after, remember ye:
rise and strike thy blade against the stone
;
every door bears a second face
;
return ye to the Lofborne anvil
. All who wander are not lost. The Pale offers much. Drink and drink deeply.

DEEPLY strange game. Based on everything, I'm assuming its part of a larger ARG, but I didn't look too far into it. Sadly, I didn't understand enough of the game to really get into it, since the directions were... unclear.
a very interesting, esoteric, experimental... thing. notable for being perhaps the most impenetrable thing i've played in a very long time, and maybe with the highest number of Confusions Per Minute. As a piece of art to look at and experience, it's definitely unique and has a certain aesthetic that draws in a certain kind of person - namely myself. although I do not know how to make heads or tails of it or carry away any real meaning. As a videogame, it's got some quirks too. You swing a sword using directional slashes and hold down right click to try to guard from a given direction as well. It's satisfying, but as of yet, the enemy variety is quite low. You are also given the world's weirdest jump and some wonky, but not entirely unpleasant physics-based hollow knight style pogo parkour mechanics, though I have no idea how you're supposed to figure those out on your own. The task, as far as I am able to discern, is to collect crates through a fragmented and labyrinthine world to smash open at an anvil. Collecting them is compelling enough to make me want to hunt down the dozen or so that I did. The real kicker here is that a lot of these can be viewed as obtuse puzzles, and that is either up your alley or it isn't, and I would expect there to be a lot of friction here, as the execution demanded can be quite high.
If you are into the abstract, deep strange lore and an experience that pushes you to keep being curious, then I highly encourage you to check Saccharine Pale out. I almost get a religious experience from this so far. I just wish I could send some money to a stranger that made this! Take my money!!!
this game makes me feel deeply excited about games in a way few others have
This game changed me I'm grateful that it exists
Yeah man. Yeah man yeah. Like. I don't know what I just played. But it has the energy of. Yeah man. Yeah. Highly recommend giving it a go, worst that happens is that you don't get it. I know I didn't get it. Excellent experience.
You have purpose. You matter. You make a difference. I am so happy to have lived during this game's existence, as well as beyond. This time we are in may feel that it is for nought but we must love where we can. I struggled to understand at first but now I do Maybe it took the imminent purging of the game. Maybe it was a result of my descent into the rabbit-hole this game has to offer. The comment-reading, the first time experience that's happened...I relate to this game in ways that I could yap forever about but also that I could never explain. Good luck to those who experience this in any form. You have purpose. You matter. You make a difference. May anyone who reads this at least think about the following... "Walk on, not for others but for yourself. Nobody else wears your legs so it is up to you" You have purpose. You matter. You make a difference.
