Start Game. Wake up in a formless void. Wander around here for 25 minutes of the demo before finding the second little spirit thing I need, Finally escape. Land in new world. 30 minutes of DEMO remain. Cool. Wander around for rest of demo picking up roses, sunflowers, and wheat! "This should sell, right?" DEMO ENDS. Buy Game! Continue. Wander a bit more. Find some kind of glowing pillars. They glow louder. They glow faster? Flying crystal monster comes out, destroys forest, kills me, and F*cks off back where it came from. "Huh. That was not ideal." Lost everything. Go back to find stuff. Gravestone. "Fair. " "F*ck this." Go back where I started. Find a town. "This was here all along?" Find a board hammering contest. Do well. Win house. Clean up farm and plant wheat seeds. No Idea how to water it. Wander town looking for shops to buy watering can or something. Nobody wants to buy my Flowers. "Figures". Find someone who will buy my wheat! "Cool". Place wheat in box to sell. See its worth ~580 coins! "Neat"! Cant pick up coins or complete transaction. "Not cool". Close window in hopes it completes transaction. "It certainly did". Didn't get coins or wheat back, and it looks like it stole an extra stack of wheat from my inventory. 2/10. Would not get robbed by vendor again. It's Stardew Valley with Orcs. What do you expect. Let them cook, and maybe it gets better.
So far so good, but please add something like a dash and mounts, also more kinds of ores
The developer i met in thier discord. They mostly speak german there. They are all amazing people and chat with me in english as i do not know german. This creator cares very much about making the game enjoyable for players more than anything else. This will be a thing to rival stardew one day if they stay on track.,
This game has come really far after the many years its been out. I still remember when this game first released in Early Access it was like an Alpha that was severely unfinished, the kind that would be used only as a Demo to show off an idea. Now the game has progressed enough that it is a fully playable really awesome Beta and it has a main story, opening cutscenes, NPCs, towns, bosses, and a detailed huge crafting system. Can say I can finally recommend this game, it is a good game and worth playing, especially if players like a sandbox RPG with a storyline that heavily encourages exploration, invention, and creative thinking.
i want to like but with the latest update its still early early access. riddle with bugs and cheap mechanics. selling things has n sell option so you have to place your item leave the menu then reissue a convo to sell again and you repeat that cuz if you place an item on top of the other item itll delete that item from existence, you have a flying cat that follows you everywhere and will hover over npcs to prevent you from talking to them cuz it has free movement, the devs claim there is a story but nothing shows that, you have no quests or quest log. but there is a quest and you have to remember what your suppose to do and the devs claim there is a quest line with a lumberjack but doesnt do anything but sell you wood like there are billions of trees you dont need to buy wood. there is no feature for having a chest next to your workbench so you can craft things woth resources in the box so you have to constantly deal with a full inventory. the repair station is a joke you need 50 things inorder to repair a basic tool. you can just craft a new one and use less resources. this game has way too many flaws thatll urk real players most of the people who originally started playing this game back around release have abandon this game its been 3 years since release and barely anything has changed but adding a town with barely anything to do save your money or hope this goes on sale for a dollar
Zum Zeitpunkt der Review befindet sich das Spiel im Early Access. Das Spiel mach sehr viel Spaß und ich Liebe die Grafische Optik, sie erinnert mich an: A Link to the Past.
Runika: A World of Little Legends, developed by Pascal Dittrich and published by padSoft, is an early-access sandbox adventure that tries to merge the calm, open-ended nature of farming and crafting games with a light layer of exploration and narrative mystery. It presents a world that is inviting rather than demanding, giving players room to experiment and define their own pace, but that same freedom can also make the experience feel unfocused depending on how you approach it. The premise begins with a simple, almost whimsical setup: the player is drawn into a miniature world through a magical object, arriving in a land that feels peaceful at first glance but is gradually being affected by a mysterious force known as the Rift. From that point on, the game largely steps aside and lets the player decide what to do next. There is no rigid structure dictating progression, and while there are hints of a broader narrative, they unfold slowly and often take a back seat to the sandbox elements. This design encourages exploration and curiosity, but it can also leave players uncertain about their direction, especially in the early stages. Gameplay revolves around a familiar loop of gathering resources, crafting tools, and expanding your capabilities. Farming, building, and crafting systems are all present, and they are designed to be approachable rather than complex. There is a steady sense of progression as you unlock new materials and improve your equipment, gradually transforming your starting area into a more developed base. At the same time, the game introduces exploration and combat, allowing players to venture beyond their immediate surroundings to discover new areas, encounter enemies, and uncover pieces of the world’s underlying mystery. One of the more appealing aspects of Runika is its atmosphere. The game uses a colorful, modern pixel-art style that gives the world a warm and inviting feel. Environments are designed to be pleasant rather than overwhelming, with a visual tone that supports the game’s relaxed pacing. This sense of calm extends to the audio design, where soft background music and subtle sound effects create a consistent mood that encourages slow, deliberate play rather than urgency. The procedurally generated world adds a layer of replayability, as each playthrough offers a slightly different layout and distribution of resources. This reinforces the game’s emphasis on exploration, encouraging players to move beyond their starting area and discover what lies further out. There are hints of a deeper history embedded in the environment, with remnants of past civilizations and unexplained phenomena tied to the Rift, though these elements are not always fully developed in the current state of the game. Where the game begins to show its limitations is in its structure and depth. The open-ended design, while appealing in concept, can lead to a lack of clear direction. Players who enjoy setting their own goals may find this freedom engaging, but others may feel aimless without stronger guidance or defined objectives. Additionally, some systems feel underdeveloped, with mechanics that work well enough but lack the complexity needed to remain engaging over long periods. As an early-access title, Runika also exhibits a degree of roughness. Interactions can feel slightly inconsistent, and the interface does not always communicate information as clearly as it could. These issues do not necessarily break the experience, but they can interrupt the flow and highlight the game’s unfinished state. There is a clear sense that the foundation is in place, but it still requires refinement and expansion to reach its full potential. Despite these shortcomings, the game succeeds in creating a space that is easy to spend time in. Its combination of relaxed pacing, light progression systems, and open-ended exploration makes it well-suited for players looking for a low-pressure experience. It may not offer the depth or direction of more fully developed titles in the genre, but it provides a framework that can be enjoyable in shorter sessions, particularly for those who appreciate sandbox gameplay. Ultimately, Runika: A World of Little Legends feels like a promising project that has yet to fully realize its ambitions. It offers a charming world and a flexible gameplay loop, but it currently lacks the cohesion and depth needed to stand out more strongly. For players willing to engage with it as a work in progress, there is enjoyment to be found, especially in its atmosphere and freedom of play. Rating: 7/10
This game is an absolute gem with beautiful pixel graphics. I have been really enjoying playing this game and can tell it's a real labour of love ❤️. I love the terraforming and the crafting is amazing it even has a potting workbench for making various trees. Really love the way things are different compared to other games. No watering can so you can either dig a small trench from a water source to your farm plot or dig some small holes and fill with water. You can walk over higher terrain instead of having to go round. I am now building a little workshop for all the amazing workbenches I have unlocked. Also most important to me is the way you can craft seating and use it😍 unlike most games where you craft chairs just to stare at! Yes the game is in early access and thankfully has a very active and dedicated Developer. So well done and keep up the awesome work as you are creating a stunning little masterpiece with the potential to be one of the greats❤️🫶🏻👍🏻😁. Also forgot to mention i am playing on my steam deck and it's beautiful it has controller icons and all text is readable. Only 1 small problem i have found is occasionally the B/interaction button stops working. Just close the game down and it works again. Also a work around is i have set the trackpad to mouse with a right click function and that has been fine so no need to close the game down. I have reported this in the bug detection section of the comments so hopefully be fixed. Also when closing the game back down to main menu it auto saves and boots back up really really quick👍🏻. I hope this makes sense to my fellow Steam Deckers🫣
