Its a cute game, with some nice added mechanics, but overall it has alot more downsides compared to its predecessor[Rogue Tower] It's roguelite mode only extends into 3 acts with 4 fights each so a total of 12 fights then everything resets the Its "mastery mode" is the better mode with extending waves, and an endlessmode. BUT the mastery mode meta board is small and lackluster in the unlocks There's also a blacksmith option to permanently upgrade tower, however The biggest downside of the game would be the scaling; its all over the place The metaboard almost adds nothing The difficulty spikes between each is manageable, but blindsides The smith meta-damage scaling goes up by 1% each upgrade increase the cost by 1 each time. this is fine, but there's a cap on material earning at 50 if you're lucky. The endless mode is the biggest dissapointment where it stops expapanding the board at 50[mostly] with an expansion at every 5 so 10 expansions on the map. the enemies get tankier and healthier, but drop the same amount of gold under almost every circumstance. there's almost no reason to try the endless Even if you think the endless upgrades balance endless, eventually you ony upgrade a stat only once for 1% after each 30 minute game. this eventually scales where you have to play 2 into 3 and so on just for a 1% increase. Please find a way to scale gold better to balance endless
Okay.
Might need some love but honestly its a great concept, between this and Emberward I am feasting on roguelike tower defense games, this seems to have much more depth and long term strategy to it, though it isn't as pretty to look at/play admittedly but still just as fun imo.
Very competent Tower Defense title that will stretch your grey matter. No two runs will be the same and a feast of upgrades that can be difficult to get your head around in the early stages. Two game-play modes and most importantly that "one more try" aspect.
It s a solid Tower Defense with some rogue-lite elements. It scratched the itch for me: 4 tiers of towers, 8 tower types, and then towers can exp. So a lot of flexibility in how you can build your defenses. It s over 3 acts too, so the progression feels really consistent. A few towers seems way worse than others, but nothing that can kill a run. A bit of a grind to unlock the full content. Wish the two modes where sharing the unlocks they share. And the mastery mode is a bit of a "power craze" mode, where you need to min/max a lot and it is rewarding to do so. It s fun at first. But kind of repetitive as you play mostly the same build everytime. I got enough for my money. I recommend at full price.
Game Rocks. Lots of fun. Would recommend
Awesome TD game with a lot of depth, customization, and randomization. Love the music and gamepad is well supported.
This is a really enjoyable game. The roguelike aspect makes sure you keep playing. It's a lot to learn because there's additional things compared to your basic tower defense, but I'm enjoying it.
A fantastic TD game with a fun rouge twist. RuneRoots fills a nice niche by having a system that feel like there is always something new to learn but also a casual game pace. Perfect for after a stressful day of work or a Multi-hour gaming session. Coupled with a nice mellow soundtrack it really is a great choice for anyone looking for an easy going game with what can only be described as a pleasant difficulty curve. Its a steal even at full price!
