I have played this game through the development as a tester and it was a great surprise to see even more in the game on release than what I tested. Last night i deleted all my old data from testing and started from scratch, before I knew it I was on year 4 and 5 hours had passed by, highly recommend this game it is great fun and challenging and a bargain price.
I like beans on toast. Everybody likes beans on toast. Well, I haven't found any toast in this game. But that doesn't mean there isn't any. Or mebbe the dev will put some in now that I've mentioned it. And then I'll put some beans on toast. Because everybody loves beans on toast. Except that I'm diabetic. I shouldn't have toast. But I do have beans on whole wheat tortillas. That's pretty good. So, about the game, right? I use cards to fight monsters. Which is, to my mind, even better than beans on toast. You'd prolly think so too, if you just played the game. So what are you still reading this for? Obviously my "beans on toast" rhetoric has convinced you that this is the game for you. If it hasn't, then God help you.
Actually pretty good and charming for the price. Leans to being a tad easy so far, but does have scaling difficulty levels that you unlock as you play. Pretty easy recommend if you want something chill that is a bit silly. Edit: I'm in the game!
This is the strategy game you are looking for. Beans are not just a musical fruit. Beans can be weaponized. Unique monster types, fun storyline (which you can fast forward if you want but it is hilarious), Defense, attack, and range types for enemies and allies. Permanent and specific battle boosts. Turn-based combat. If you need to think or get a snack you can do both. No time limits. Highly recommend.
What a lovely silly, but challenging game. It has its own twist on a classic formula. You have a turn or three to build up your defences, then the battle kicks in and you find out if you're well enough prepared for it. It's not easy and you have to learn what works and when. I really like the balance now that i'm used to it. You have to decide sometimes if you're going to reach for the killing blow at the cost of damage, or aim to win a war of attrition. While there is skill in what cards to play, it is the deck building that separates the men from the boys. I'm really enjoying the challenge and i've been playing for a couple hours a night all week. Also, the developer is a funny guy. The entire premise of the game, the 'story', is exactly the right amount of weird/lazy to be hilarious. I mean, the whole point is to defend a town of beans, that live in bean cans, from what I can only describe as various imaginary monsters from the dreams of an eight year old. It's awesome. For less than the cost of a beer, yeah, this is a nice, funny, good game.
Delightful. Graphics may be a little rough, but this is a superb deckbuilding roguelike.
this game is wonderful. it's so strange and charming!! the worldbuilding in this bean game is very confident. like, the systems are all completely novel, but the game is just like, here, line up your defensive beans and your bean rangers and get ready to fight snakes and robots. your enemy is a can of beans and also your buff is a different can of beans. SURE, I'M READY i would say one big thing i'd love to see is a different and way more legible font on the cards -- it's almost unreadable and this would be hard to recommend too widely because of that.
Really well made, graphics didnt seem appealing before I downloaded it but they work really well with the theme. I come back to playing this game on a regular basis which is something I rarely do these days.
Yep, a lot of fun. I've played a LOT of deckbuilder games and this brings a lot of new mechanics/features to the table. The developer is constantly updating, rebalancing and adding new cards / features, so is keeping it interesting. It's very, very addictive and a lot of fun finding new, different deck builds that work well - a lot of thought has gone into different card synergies and it's really fun finding out new ways of playing things. Also, the story is intense; gripping, compelling, layered (ok not really and the game makes i very clear that the story is not really even a story). There's a lot of humour in the game; read through the lore and there's a lot of laughs to be had, if absurdist humour is your thing. Really good and for the price you really can't go wrong - I'd happily have paid double what i did.
Surprisingly deep and original game for the price. Deck building with unlockables between runs, but with beans that you sacrifice for defense or attack (Diana would be mad, those who played would know). Synergies can be quite powerful and interesting. Dialogues are hilarious, I skipped none of them, and they're not invasive (it's mostly tutorial and main quest). I'm 15h in and there are still some things to unlock (not sure how many, I'm at "day" 5 on 7). The game is not in early access anymore, but the dev is not finished with adding things to it. Quite some fun for the price of a cookie.
