Short; If you like mancala, raccoons, or want to support Roxy on her journies, pick this up! You do not need knowledge of the other Roxy games to play this, but you will see familiar faces. Longer: The story mode is a bit short, especially if you win every match first try. It's 8 matches, with a bit of story between them. The story is set after 1 (adventure platformer), pinball and bowling, and before 2 (mazes). This is the first game with a tutorial too, in case you aren't sure how to play. The traditional how to play screens are also available. There is a versus AI mode, local and online MP, and the usual Rapid Ryan Arcade with some new additions, including peg solitaire. There are various customization options for both character, including accessories and fur color options, and the board game itself, including the pieces and board. More options are unlocked through playing different parts of the game. All of the maps have hidden things to click and they react. It was so fun trying to find them. There is no reason to other then curiosity, but have fun finding them too! All achievements work and the game should take you 2 hours with just doing the bare minimum for them. This will require you to play the tutorial, read how to play, play through the story, play against certain AI, play a few select mini games, read the credits, read each page of the character book, and change one thing on each customization slot except character. All in all, solid addition to the Roxy lineup. Plays well and was fun for an afternoon.
It's a simple but very fun and addictive strategy board game to play as it is moving stones and trying to capture your opponent’s stones. Gameplay: https://youtu.be/8JEDznYYfOA It's suitable for children aged 5 years and older/can play with the whole family! It is fun and can be addictive. The board is a tray with two rows of pits and a longer pit at each end (known as a Mancala). The player selects one of their pits on the board and grabs all the stones from within it. Going counter-clockwise from the now empty pit stones are placed, one by one, into each pit around the board, including their own Mancala pit (except for the opponent's Mancala). If your last stone is placed in an empty pit, you capture the stones in the opposite pit on your opponent’s side and place they in your Mancala. Once a player has placed all the stones on the board, it’s the opponent’s turn. As soon as all pits from one side are empty of stones, the game ends. The opponent then takes all the stones from the pits on their own side. The winner is the player with the highest number of stones. [u]You can read other reviews and subscribe to our curators. Oh boy! I love Mancala, so when I found out the Roxy devs were making a Mancala game I knew I had to get it. This was a childhood favorite of mine and one that I regularly play with my daughter. So, does this game deliver? Yes it does! It’s basically everything I could hope for and more. There’s a lot of stuff here and is a ton of fun. I don’t see myself playing online much but that’s okay, there’s plenty of stuff to do single player as well as offline multiplayer!
I love Mancala and this seemed the best option on Steam. The characters are cute, but the UI/fonts/menu are garish and jarring. There's a lot of little extra fluffy content like memory match, peg solitaire, etc. The story mode felt VERY short and there was only one match in which I was in any danger of losing (I still won). But it works.
You want to play a game to relax and pass the time, this is one for you. Classic Mancala you love with a twist. Lots of customization which has come always with all Roxy Raccoon games. Fun story line. A must play.
Mancala On Steriods! Playing Mancala has never felt so good! I used to play back in middle school all the time. I was pleasantly surprised by how polished the gameplay is for this game. There are some very satisfying effects and good level of detail on the boards. Playing is very intuitive, there are visual and audio queues, and you even get to play as little creatures that are extremely cute. I was also impressed with the AI - it has a great difficulty curve, starting out as easy to beat and ending with a few more challenging opponents. The dev clearly went all out, as for a simple Mancala game, this really has a crap ton of extra content. I mean, there is a whole story mode, tons of customization options (including the actual board you play on - there is a Canoe, my personally favorite), and even a minigame mode where you can play like 5 different minigames. It also has an online mode even! There was unfortunately no one else playing while I was on, so I cannot attest to how well it works, but if its anything like the rest of the features I would assume it works well. Also - the soundtrack is an absolute BANGER! There is a wide variety of tracks to listen to, and you can even skip to your favorite one mid-match. There is really just some minor issues with things like resolution (I'm on 2560x1080 [1440p], it appears that the canvases aren't quite scaled for this res), a couple of the minigames could use some more work, and I personally feel that some of the UI is either too big or in the wrong places, especially for the story mode text boxes. But again - for a cheap little 5$ game, this was done extremely well. And most of the issues are both minor AND are part of things that IMO are complete bonuses when considering the fact that this is just a little Mancala game. I'm very impressed with the developer, as I hear he made it all by himself. Hats off to you sir! Would definitely recommend.
Raccoons and Board games, what’s not to love? Recommended? You betcha!
Roxy meets Mancala? Never thought I’d see the day but I can’t say I’m totally surprised. I suppose it will tide me over until we get a proper Roxy 3.
Short and sweet Mancala game. Another entry in the Roxy games series which follows the adventures of Roxy Raccoon, facing against the witch and her companions in games of Mancala. Plenty of customisation allowing you to personalise your experience while going through the game. There are also other minigames available in the menu which is neat. There were a few minor bugs I found when playing through but nothing major. I enjoyed this game overall and it was my first time playing Mancala again since experiencing it in Club Penguin as a young Mouse.
Great game. Played through the story at first with only reading the short form instructions but had never played the game it's based on before. Went back and read the full manual and went ooooohhhh now I get it. As always with this creator I love the customisation options and the textures included in the design like the textures of the board... I may be odd to notice things like that though lol. I really like the extra little games included too. The carrot mine sweeper type game was probably my favourite as I have played far too many hours of minesweeper in my life, oops. The odd one out was rather soothing, kinda stimmy feeling from it (iykyk). Music was enjoyable again, don't think I've ever felt like turning sound off or down from this creator. I think the tutorial could be more like a play through one but otherwise great game. Frankly it's not like you need the tutorial if you've played the game it's based on before anyhow.
