rowrow is a mathematical sliding game, except the role of numbers is played by shapes, which was enough for me to try the free version on kongregate, then pick it up, seeing as I'm not a math kind of person and actively avoid most puzzlers with numbers, except picross/nonograms and their derivatives. it also shows how smart I am if I'm tricked this easily, but there you go. your goal is to move shapes around so that they add up to the black shapes scattered around the level. for instance, if you need a square, you can move a square to that row or column, or a triangle and a dot, or two lines, or a line and two dots, or four dots, but nothing else. doesn't sound too bad and it starts out easy enough, but of course you have to take other rows, columns, directions and mechanics into account as well, and sadly later levels turn into trial & error madness. there are about 100 levels, which should keep you busy for a few hours, but not all of it is fun, most levels are either trivial or way too finicky. there's no move or time limit though, you can experiment to your heart's desire, and the price is okay for what it is, even if you can experience about a third of it for free, though not sure if there are any levels on kongregate that aren't in the steam version, but the level order is definitely different. speaking of, the level select screen isn't great, very mobile, so very useless. instead of showing 15-20 levels on one screen, it's a scrollfest of single levels and it skips every other one, so if you want to play the level in-between, gotta click the top or bottom of the screen where that particular level is barely visible. still, it could've ended up as a cautious recommendation, but there are some serious technical shortcomings as well, that haven't been fixed, nor acknowledged: - no windowed mode, alt+enter only creates an unresizable window - no volume sliders - the very few settings are only available while playing a level, not from the menu - audio is really buggy, turns on every time you start the game and even mid-game when an achievement pops up or whenever it feels like it, have to turn it on and off if you aren't bothered by these and enjoy similar games, you might like this one too, but even for the low asking price I wouldn't recommend it because of the low-effort presentation. minimalist shouldn't mean lacking basic functionality.

Each symbol represents a number. For example: A triangle has three sides, so it's a 3. Slide rows of black symbols to fill the white symbols. A Challenging Mathematical Sliding Puzzle!
Overall - Recommended
I think this might be one of the best minimal puzzle games on Steam. It's unique, challenging and visually appropriate. Sounds are great, ambient and not over done. I needed some time to get the hang of it but after 20 stages it was fun to play with. There's a few twists on the road to the end. Really clever. From stage 80 til the end it really gets challenging(Still couldn't solve few stages). Great game.
Game Objective
Align blocks to match several goal shapes for each stage. (There's a animated in-game instruction) To be honest I wouldn't have needed this. Maybe players who don't play much puzzle games might.
Puzzle Logic
4.5/5 The most thing I like about this game is its unique-ness. A lot of minimalistic puzzle games on steam are fun and enjoyable maybe more compared to this game but in many cases they lack the unique factor that this game totally has. and it comes from the puzzle logic. The levels where you combine the Gridlock-style mechanic with the main game mechanic is brilliant! It can be a bit too hard if you don't like math puzzles but definitely worth trying out(It's just a dollar).
Design
4/5. Sometimes minimalistic design can give you a feeling that a game is not well polished. This game manages to make it look complete. (I hate 100% white backgrounds or over saturated ones. They seem to make my eyes dry.) The animations are simple, not too much or not too less. It seems though it can be improved in timing. When I finish 1 round it gives less than a second to feel the satisfaction or check how I solved it. Overall, It will be a great new addition to your minimalistic puzzle games collection.
I don't think the shapes really work, they look good and that's it. I'd just prefer numbers. Game started getting pretty guess-and-check-y towards the end. Options don't save on exit and music keeps turning itself back on. Some levels would benefit greatly from a way to mark tiles as "solved", just a little easier for the player to remember what they've deduced already.
Wow, this puzzle was hard.
