Rotten Apple is a 4 player co-op zombie wave shooter. Survive waves of a large variety of zombies, kill to get cash, spin the slot machine for weapon upgrades and stackable perks, then rinse and repeat. Sounds simplistic, doesn't it? What you can't describe is the pure adrenalin rush that this hectic, crazy, fast paced game gives you. You become so focused on nailing those headshots (more $$) that time slows and you are just there, in the moment. Standing shoulder to shoulder with your pals, blasting zombies, calling out threats and desperately trying to survive. I played with fellow creator Surjical from IndieVR and at one point, we both had to stop, take a breath and wipe away the sweat, it was THAT intense. The game is in early access, there is currently only one map BUT there is a story mode on the way in a week or so as well as another level for the horde mode (called Wavemode). I loved playing this game, its so much fun with friends plus its an absolute bargain!
This game is super fun with friends! I love it when a game rewards covering your mates' back with better progress. There might be a little hickup someplaces but honestly nothing that gets in the way of my fun :P
I love it!!! Its beautifully done. I got lost in it and before i knew it an hour and a half had passed by in a snap. The reload is fun and smooth, the movement is comfortable. I especially liked the fact you can play music 💜🥳, it was so much fun dancing while killing zombies. The slot machine is super fun as well, you can get cool perks and they stack. Theres a depth to the game as far as strategy as well. Let the ones with tanks in so you can shoot the tanks if surrounded in closed space, DONT let the shield guys in because its almost impossible to hit them once they are, opening up gun cases at set number of levels to maximize success, ect. Love it, just love.
I must say, it's an absolute blast! Rotten Apple offers an adrenaline-pumping experience that left me hooked from the very start. Can't believe how fast the first hour went by :) The gameplay mechanics are intuitive and easy to grasp, allowing players of all skill levels to jump right in. Armed with a variety of weapons, you'll navigate through hordes of zombies in an attempt to survive. The gunplay is satisfying, and the sensation of reloading weapons and taking down enemies in VR is incredibly immersive.
It's been a long time since a game has caused me such an adrenalin rush. You turn to the right, bam Zombie, turn to the left, bam see a giant mutant zombie approaching and it won't and won't die. Even 20 minutes of game play are definitely a work out. Love how well made the game is, (1) ...power ups are being sufficiently highlighted, so they are not getting lost in the carnage. (2) ...reloading is really intuitive and fast. (3) ...physics in the game do what you'd expect them to do. Graphics are not like in half life: alyx but to be honest, I haven't seen many games where they would be, so was really positively surprised by how real everything felt. Since it's still early access, some things that would be really nice for the future: (1) ... Seated mode support (2) ... There are some areas of the game that feel less polished (Glitching Zombies) (3) ... MELEE!!! The game has lots of potential, so it's definitely worth giving it a look - but I'm also looking forward to the story mode and to find out more about the lore of the game. Otherwise, the wave shooter may become a bit repetitive over time. It would also be nice to see how well other players are doing and maybe to add a bit of competitiveness to the whole thing.
Nothing better after a long day than shooting some zombies! It's very fun, intuitive, overall well done.
Currently this game is a solid zombie co-op game, we're missing a few features, but it is still in Early Access and I look forward to what the future of this game is going to look like. Keep up the good work!
good game
Honestly, I'm kind of grateful that this game came out. It was actually only released for VR Arcades and some people had asked the devs if a consumer PCVR version might be possible too and here it is. The game doesn't have the story mode yet, but I have to admit that even the wave shooter part is fun already. Great gore effects and the weapons just feel right. It's been a long time since I've played VR wave shooter but while the story mode is still WIP I'll play it a few more times for sure!
Nice new zombie shooter, good gore and gunplay, but very limited place for move in campaign make it feels like ordinary wave shooter. Also manual reload and shooting haptic feedback would be nice..
