Warning: Asset Flip!
ROOM FOOTBALL - Dark Place is a Unity Asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", Top-Down Games/Hede, took the Deserted Village Unity Store game assets from the real developers, Triplebrick, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work. It gets worse... "Deserted Village" has already been shamelessly dumped on Steam by Hede before:

"3D PUZZLE - Deserted Village"
Take a look for yourself... he's flipped the same asset twice! Because this is an almost exact 1:1 copy + paste of the original Unity asset, it's in violation of the Unity Asset Store Terms of Service and EULA. Specifically, Section 2, Subsection 2.2.1a:
Subject to the restrictions set forth in this EULA, Licensor hereby grants to the END-USER a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, and perpetual license to the Asset solely:(a) to incorporate the Asset, together with substantial, original content not obtained through the Unity Asset Store, into an electronic application or digital media that has a purpose, features, and functions beyond the display, performance, distribution, or use of Assets ("Licensed Product") as an embedded component of that Licensed Product, such that the Asset does not comprise a substantial portion of the Licensed Product
Because the developer misused the asset pack such that it comprises the vast majority of this "game", the developer has unethically and deliberately breached the license agreement. Worse, this intellectual property violation was done in an attempt to profit from their illicit actions. Why is this permitted on Steam? Top-Down Games/Hede has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Deserted Village" is just a simple Unity asset with a deserted medieval village scene, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game. It's just a minimum viable product, just enough to get through the non-existent quality control on Steam Direct. Not a real game. Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off. Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. ROOM FOOTBALL - Dark Place has the completely insane price of $200 USD, which is incredibly suspicious, higher than AAA pricing for an asset flip shovelware scam game. Why would the "developer" put such a high price tag on an asset flip with no true value as a game? There's no direct proof for this, but it's entirely possible this game is priced this way for money laundering or other criminal purposes. Valve have previously banned developers for running money laundering scams. While there's no direct evidence in this case, it's highly suspicious and gamers should be wary. The quality problems and defects with this game makes the asking price totally unrealistic. It's impossible to recommend this to gamers here on Steam.

An excellent game with a good dark atmosphere. It's simple: you need to calculate the force of your shot and hit the ball into specific points to achieve victory.
Это простая казуальная головоломка, которая сочетает в себе аркадный футбол и физику. Главная идея игры понятна сразу: вам нужно исследовать локацию, найти объекты, помеченные красными лучами, и уничтожить их с помощью футбольного мяча.
A cool way to search for things. You find an item and try to hit it with a ball.
ROOM FOOTBALL – Dark Place, developed and published by Hede, is a physics-based puzzle experience that reimagines the simple act of kicking a soccer ball into a series of exploratory, target-driven challenges set within stylized 3D environments. Rather than focusing on traditional competitive football mechanics, the game transforms the ball into a tool for solving spatial problems. The result is a hybrid between a casual sports game and a first-person physics puzzle, offering a relaxed yet surprisingly engaging gameplay loop centered on precision, observation, and experimentation. The core objective in each level is straightforward: locate objects marked by visible indicators and knock them down using a soccer ball. However, the simplicity of this goal belies the subtle challenge embedded within the design. Players must carefully control both camera positioning and shot power, adjusting angles and force to account for environmental obstacles and distance. The ball’s physics behavior plays a central role, making each kick a small calculation of momentum and trajectory. Success depends less on reflexes and more on patience and understanding how the ball interacts with the world. Exploration is a defining element of the experience. The levels are not tightly linear arenas but rather open spaces that encourage players to roam and scan their surroundings. Targets are often placed in unexpected locations, requiring careful visual inspection before attempting a shot. This exploration component slows the pacing in a deliberate way, giving the game a contemplative tone. Instead of rapid-fire action, ROOM FOOTBALL – Dark Place favors methodical progression, rewarding players who take time to observe and plan their approach. Visually, the game adopts a clean and stylized aesthetic that prioritizes clarity over realism. Environments are rendered in a colorful yet restrained palette, allowing interactive elements to stand out. The absence of overly complex textures or visual noise helps maintain focus on the gameplay itself. While the graphics are modest in scope, they align well with the game’s casual and accessible design philosophy. Sound effects are functional and reinforce successful hits or interactions, but the presentation remains understated overall. The physics system provides the primary source of engagement. Each kick requires a balance of power and direction, and the absence of rigid constraints allows for creative solutions. Players can experiment with unconventional angles or rebounds to reach difficult targets. This sandbox-like quality introduces replay value, as different approaches can yield equally effective results. The inclusion of achievements and leaderboards further encourages optimization, inviting players to refine their strategies and improve efficiency. Despite its strengths, ROOM FOOTBALL – Dark Place operates within a narrow scope. It does not offer a narrative campaign or deep progression system. Instead, its appeal lies in its focused mechanics and the satisfaction derived from mastering them. For players expecting a fully realized sports simulation or a story-driven adventure, the experience may feel limited. However, for those drawn to physics-based experimentation and light puzzle-solving, the game provides a steady and enjoyable rhythm. The pacing supports short, relaxed play sessions. Because objectives are self-contained within each level, players can complete challenges at their own speed without feeling pressured. This makes the game suitable for casual play or brief sessions between more demanding titles. Over time, however, the core mechanic remains largely unchanged, which may reduce long-term engagement for players seeking evolving systems or escalating complexity. Ultimately, ROOM FOOTBALL – Dark Place succeeds by committing to its central idea: transforming a soccer ball into a puzzle-solving instrument within open 3D spaces. It offers a distinctive blend of exploration and physics experimentation that feels approachable and satisfying. While modest in ambition and presentation, it delivers a focused experience that rewards precision and patience. For players who appreciate creative, physics-driven challenges wrapped in a casual framework, it stands as a charming and unconventional indie offering. Rating: 5/10
