1. RNG is annoying in this game. Especially with the trials. 2. Trials seem half-designed. Star progression means absolutely nothing when it gives you cards you unlock later. THE ENTIRE POINT OF PROGRESSION TO GET THING YOU CAN ACTIVELY UNLOCK WITHOUT HAVING TO UNLOCK OTHER THINGS. Not wait while doing other things. (For more context, it gives you cards that you can't currently unlock, forcing you to unlock other cards first. Poor design choice.) 3. The "guide" or "solutions(s)" for the trials they claim to have in their discord is 1. NOT IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, and 2. Does NOT have ALL the solutions/guides in it, making it almost ENTIRELY POINTLESS to even join. All in all, this needs some more work, and the devs need to make an actual guide instead of putting low effort into a discord channel. 2/10, deducted 6 for the devs poor design choices, and low effort "guides". Will update IF the above gets fixed. Edit: Reolling locations is an absolute poor design. There's only 4-6 different locations it gives you upon rerolling. I tested this 20+ times, and never got any other locations in the reroll other than those same 4-6. Ever. edit 2: Trials are... not balanced. Having to get 1,500 length of energy circut is just so damn annoying and NOT. FUN. You either sit there and abuse the pyramid's 'impossible face' for discount potions and be bored out of your mind, or be bored out of your mind doing it under 25,000 tiles. Boring, not fun, not engage, bad design. Players should not be forced through a slog fest like this. ANd I doubt the other ones after this will be much better. And, yes, that is the "solution" in their discord. "Sit there and reroll the shop while using an autoclicker to roll your dice" Terrible design. Be. Better. On top of that, most of the other trials are either an RNG fest, or mid difficulty. It's honestly more annoying and tedious than fun. I don't recommend, and I'm sitting at a solid 0 for this game. Not even a 1/10. A 0. For what it's worth, you're better off getting cookie clicker and not dealing with this rng slog packaged as a "fun dice game", which is only fun to people who like to be bored out of their mind, and who enjoy tedious, boring tasks. Hard pass. Would refund if I still could.
If you´re a fan of "Numbers go big" and a fair amount of Roguelike elements and don´t mind a little bit of Math, You sure gonna have a fun time here for like 10-30 hours. Then why the negative review? - will be explained a little bit down below: I really dig the basegame and everything, even tho very rng-heavy with the curse stuff that gets introduced a lil bit into the Game, but fun for some playthroughs. (but barely took me 5 hours to "finish" all the basic modes and having seen/stared most artfiacts). But my review gonna be a bit more based on the newest addition to the Game, the Trials, which was my main-buying Point. Starting out felt pretty fun and trying to figure out the "Puzzles" but honestly after the first few down, It was more and more "Force your Hand" type of Puzzles, where there was barely more than 1 solution you had to find/figure out and done. And now even worse - a lil bit deeper, You´re forced to bring what the Game tells you to, like not even anymore pretending of "freedom of choice" or maybe trying to find your own way. Which honestly makes the attempts just purely RNG. Don´t get me wrong, I absolutely love me my good challenges - but calling it a "Rogue-lite" mode and advertising for thus with stuff like meta-progression/personalizing runs, is plain clickbait. It´s simply up Puzzle-mode and little bit later straight up throw yourself at it enough times - til the stars align. And since it was my main selling point for the Game and since i dispice fake or wrong Advertisment - resulting in a negative review from me, Still had a fun few hours tho!
I just finished the last trial. It was a absolute journey. This game is truly S tier. This game offers what it is perfectly. Its a game about rolling dice, failing and then being better next time. There is two ways to play the game, the normal way includes different difficulties and have some replayability, but not that much. The other is trials that came in a huge update. I bought the game when it came out and already thought I got my bang for my buck, I even got on the leaderboard once. But now with the update, it is so much fun. Trials are really challenging and even more rewarding. It feels perfectly challenging, so not stupendously hard and it is pretty long. Now when I have finished trials, I am going for 100% the game. Thanks for the game daVinchy
Pretty satisfying and had a good time playing it, but I don't expect to have the urge to play it more in the future.
It takes you for a spin.... it can lul a bit, but if you play casually and dont invest too much on the result, it's pretty fun for a run or two at a time. It can feel extremely RNG, you end up picking up some strategies along the way, but RNG it's still there heavily influencing if the run will be successful or not (some key upgrades and upgrade order make all the impact)
A game where I really wish there was a "middle" option in reviews. This is a fun, beautifully created puzzle/maths roguelike with some great mechanics, hard to master gameplay and amazing soundtrack. I got about 30 hours of satisfying play out of it, trying to find new combinations and complete challenges etc. BUT. If a game is very challenging, and requires a lot of luck with the RNG and careful set up for over an hour to try and create a winning run, it simply HAS to get the code right. Unfortunately, somewhere in the late game it's clear there's a bug (at least one) whereby something which should stay constant (the cost of an upgrade to your "character") rapidly increases for no good reason, and you end up in a failed game, contrary to what should happen based on the stated mechanics in the game and on the forums. This has happened repeatably and provably. To their credit, the developer quickly responded to the bug report but didn't seem to have much idea what could be causing it, despite a detailed description of what had happened. I hope it's tracked down and fixed, but I get the feeling it won't be and I won't be playing now that it has been identified - a puzzle game that "cheats" on you in the late game just isn't worth the time sink. A shame as it was a blast trying to figure out how to break things - like all good games of this genre, it actively encourages you to do that. So by all means buy this if you want a real challenge, chilled music, interesting art, and a great premise - and you don't mind waiting for a bug fix if you happen to pick the same combo strategies I did which seem to have the bug in them.
At first, the game seemed not worth it. I don't know why they made the standard mode then another one before giving you the game. But overall you need to beat standard mode before the game becomes interesting. I would just drop the player in trial mode immediately to make sure they see the actual game and don't refund after failing the first mode a couple time and not seeing the point of it. The game is trial mode, where your goal is to unlock new cards (passive powers) by completing certain objectives. It's satisfying to figure out the way to get these objective, and then unlocking a new passive which will allow you to complete another objective which you could not complete before. The crucial point of this game is RNG. There is no secret techniques, most little optimization are pretty obvious. And even when you make a mistake, it probably doesn't matter because your not 5 or 10 roll close to success most of the time. THEREFORE This is not a very empowering game. It's possible to play perfectly and fail, it's possible to play suboptimaly and win. When you feel like unlocking a card is impossible (don't pass 10 tiles and score a 32) it's because it is impossible right now with the cards you have. don't be hard on yourself and just do another one. Your chance of success are quite obvious, and the answer is black or white. You will know you've won or failed way before the end. This is not balatro or slay the spire. But it IS relaxing and and i must admit that i get my dopamine rush when i have a good run and when i finally complete an objective using a unique gamestyle the game makes me explore for the time of a small run. If you're looking for a chill, relaxing and decently satifying game to spend time trying to get all the trophies and just going throught the progression, this is a good game. If you're looking for huge big brain roguelike with complicated builds and where you can complete all the challenges as soon as you unlock them if your good enought and have a big brain, this is not a game for you.
