tl;dr I'm enjoying it! I also got it for less than $5, and it was definitely worth that price in any case. And I'll be honest, I bet by the time I'm finished with it, I'll have spent at least 25 hours in the game and the game is $25, so...winning? The narrator (aka the Devil) reminds me a LOT of the narrator in Dungeon Keeper, so if you like that vibe, Rogue Lords has it in spades. AND you get to cheat in this game (you spend your overall health to do it) which tbh I love cuz sometimes it just feels good to be like NOPE when something happens in a fight you don't like or when your stats aren't great for a social encounter, so you want to bend the odds in your favor to try and make the roll anyway. It's a turn-based combat game centered around a series of "chapters" to retrieve stolen relics so you can--presumably--face the final boss who crushes your face in the initial time around. I'm only up to working on getting my fourth of six relics, so that's all I know. You acquire skills and social stats as you run through the map each time, spreading "Terror" with your deeds as you progress to give yourself nice little bonuses down the literal road since you're actually running through the map as whatever "leader" of your merry band you chose. You gain xp regardless of winning or losing a run, and unlock future advantages a la the roguelike mechanics. It's cool being able to chose your preferred party/playstyle in a game like this (you start with three characters and unlock 9 in total, I'm up to seven atm) and I've been pleasantly surprised several times at how choices made in "Trait" acquiring map nodules had longer lasting effects than I initially expected. Now there ARE little discrepancies here and there, where the game sometimes doesn't understand its own mechanics and won't calculate projected damage loss correctly AND in voice lines of certain characters not matching up with the captions, but I'll be honest...I got it for less than $5, I'm not going to complain much with that kind of discount.
